Paedophile back behind bars for breaching court order in Alloa

paedo

A CHILD sex offender has been given a four-month prison term for making contact with children in Alloa.

Richard Carnwath (45) was convicted of breaking the terms of an interim Sexual Offences Protection Order (SOPO).

He appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday (26 February) for sentencing following the completion of social work reports.

The offence took place on 9 January 2015 when he was living at Tarragon House, Mar Place, in Alloa.

Carnwath has previously served a significant prison sentence following a conviction for serious sexual offences against children.

He served his sentence at HMP Glenochil and was released in the middle of December of last year.

Upon his liberation, he was made subject to an interim SOPO which banned him from making contact with anyone under the age of 16, save for incidental or unavoidable interactions.

However, on 9 January he went to his friend’s house in Alva where he knew young children would be present in advance.

Depute fiscal Marie-Claire Chaffey said: “He told his friend had been in prison for robbery and stabbing someone; he made no mention of the sexual offence prevention order to which he is subject to.

“He was clearly aware of the children being present and made no effort to leave.

“At no point was he left alone with them and the police report states that he made no efforts to engage with them at all.

“However, the partner of the accused’s friend then became uneasy as she noticed he was paying extra attention to her older daughter.

“She said she saw him staring at her daughter and when he saw she was observing him doing this, he quickly looked away.” Members of the family later became aware of Carnwath’s past and soon reported the matter to the police.

A few days after he had visited his friend’s house, Carnwath called him and asked him to deny that he was ever present in his home.

After being interviewed by police, he was arrested and charged.

He then admitted the offence at a hearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (2 February).

In mitigation, defence lawyer Claire McCarron said: “Mr Carnwath fully accepts responsibility for this offence, and although it is a breach, it is not at the top end of the offence scale.

“The report here is concerning, especially with regards to his actions after visiting the house.

“His position is that, following his release, he was trying to get to some normality and to engage in a typical social setting.

“Any custodial sentence which may be imposed is likely only to be a short one, so perhaps it would be in the public interest to impose an extended period of supervision and allow Mr Carnwath to remain in the community.” SOPOs are intended to protect the public from any risk posed by liberated sex offenders by placing restrictions on their behaviour.

They are only ever granted when it has been decided the subject continues to present a risk of serious sexual harm to the public or to particular sections of the public.

Sheriff Simon Collins noted the degree in ‘planning’ that Carnwath exhibited during this offence and found that custody was the only course of action to take.

He said: “Mr Carnwath, I have considered all that has been said from the prosecution and on your behalf and I am satisfied that there is no alternative to custody here.

“It is concerning the level of planning involved in your gaining access to these children as well as your subsequent attempts to cover your tracks.

“And so in these circumstances, there is simply no other option before the court today.” Sheriff Collins ordered that Carnwath serve a sentence of four months, reduced from five months, which is backdated to 14 January 2015.

Father-of-three, 34, who raped two underage girls after plying them with vodka until they were ‘paralytically drunk’ is jailed for 16 years

mark

A man who raped two under-age girls after inviting them back to his flat and plying them with so much vodka that they were ‘paralytically drunk’ has been jailed for 16 years.

Mark Jackson, who also sexually assaulted a third girl on a later occasion when she was also drunk, was ordered to register as a sex offender for life following his conviction.

Jackson, aged 34, of Sandy Lane, Radford, had denied raping a 14-year-old girl, assaulting her by penetration, and orally raping her and a 15-year-old friend in April 2014.

But after deliberating for a total of just over 18 hours over four days, a jury at Warwick Crown Court found him guilty of all four of those charges by a majority of 10-2.

He was also convicted of assaulting another 15-year-old the following month and of sexual activity with her as an alternative to a further charge of assault by penetration.

Prosecutor Peter Arnold said that two girls, aged 14 and 15, first met Jackson in April 2014 when they approached him near a shop in Sandy Lane to ask him to buy some vodka for them.

In her evidence the older girl said she had told him she was 16 at that time because she thought he would be more likely to get them alcohol if he thought they were older than they were.

After buying the drink for them, Jackson gave her a piece of card with his number on it and told them that if they needed any more alcohol, to get in touch with him.

They contacted each-other a number of times before Good Friday when she and her friend, who told Jackson she was 15, made three visits to his flat, drinking vodka while he drank whisky.

On the last visit late that night she had crept out of her own home to go back there with her friend, and they had so much to drink that she was sick.

Jackson forced them to take off the onesies they were wearing and forced each of them to perform oral sex on him.

The case was heard at Warwick Crown Court

He also raped her friend and, at one stage during their visit, locked their phones in his car so they could not use them.

The one girl returned to his flat on another occasion with two other friends, also aged 15, and after her friends had been drinking in the lounge Jackson put his hand down one girl’s trousers and assaulted her.

Jackson, who Mr Arnold said was aware the girls were all under 16, did the same again later against her will.

Matters came to light in May after an ambulance had been called to one of the girls because she was found drunk in a park – and after being taken to hospital she revealed what had happened.

When asked if he was attracted to the girls Jackson said: “Well, I’m a single man. Why not? They looked young, but whether they were 16 or under, it’s hard to tell.

“At first they said they were 16, but it came out that [one of them] was 15, then that [the other girl] had been lying as well. I now know they’re 15.”

He denied kissing or touching them, and denied there had been any sexual activity with them at all.

Jailing Jackson, Judge de Bertodano told him: “These girls you took to your flat and gave them alcohol. These were girls who should not have been drinking, and when they did drink they were clearly incapable of dealing with it.

“On two occasions when you had more than one girl in your flat they became so drunk they were clearly not in a state to consent to anything at all.

“On the first occasion you took advantage of that to rape two girls, and on the second you indecently assaulted another girl. One was only 14 at the time, and the other two were 15.

“On top of that these girls, as you well knew, had their vulnerabilities.

“Despite knowing all this, you jumped at the opportunity to provide alcohol to girls who were half your age and encouraged them to lie to their parents about their whereabouts.

“I have absolutely no doubt you did this with one motive in mind. You have a daughter of the same age these girls were at the time. You didn’t care about their wellbeing, you just wanted to have sex with them.”

Scunthorpe man sentenced for having 122 indecent images of young boys

Blake Madison

A MAN who had more than 120 indecent images of young boys on his mobile phone was spared an immediate prison sentence.

Blake Madison, 41, of George Street, Scunthorpe pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of a child between February 8, 2013 and February 9, 2015 and was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court.

Prosecuting, Craig Lowe said police went to Madison’s home on February 8 last year in relation to a similar matter which his partner was arrested for.

He said a search of Madison’s bedroom led them to find a mobile phone which he admitted was his, containing indecent images of young boys.

Mr Lowe said: “While their search of the property was conducted, a mobile telephone was seized from under the pillow on the bed.

“It was sent for analysis and was found to have a number of indecent images of boys, the youngest being seven to 10.

“There were five images at level A, 27 at level B and 90 at level C.

“The defendant, understandably, was arrested, cautioned and interviewed in relation to that.

He accepted the phone was his and he was the only person with access to it.”

Mr Lowe said Madison told police he was born with spina bifida, which had affected his development and meant he had to have reconstructive surgery.

Mr Lowe said: “That led him to be fascinated with male development and that led him to a fascination with male pornography.

“He said he had never had any help with that but wanted help to make sure he didn’t offend again in a similar way.”

Mr Lowe said Madison had three previous convictions relating to 15 offences, including two for similar matters.

He had been given a 12-month prison sentence at Hull Crown Court in 2011 for making indecent photographs of children.

Mitigating, Antony Farrell said Madison had pleaded guilty to the offence at the first opportunity.

He said Madison was due to undergo reconstructive surgery at the end of the year.

He said: “His fascination seems to be how he is and how other people look in relation to development.

“Certainly in respect of that, he feels himself to be in a situation where he views himself as extremely ugly and as such, it has caused a constant source of depression since he was nine years old.”

Mr Farrell said Blake had endured a difficult upbringing and had been “more or less kicked out of the family home at a very young age”.

And he asked for any custodial sentence to be suspended to allow Madison to get help to address his problems.

He said: “He is extremely keen not simply to avoid prison but to rid himself of those demons.

“He wants help in respect of being able to lead a normal, law-abiding life.”

Sentencing, Recorder Tahir Khan told Madison: “Against your background of previous convictions for similar offending, this offending is, in my judgment, so serious as to justify a sentence of imprisonment.

“The matter that has been exercising my thoughts, that requires a judgment from me, is whether you represent such a danger to the public that only immediate custody can be justified or whether there are reasons for concluding that punishment within the community may in the long term be better for society.”

Recorder Khan said he felt able to suspend the sentence, partly because of Madison’s motivation to get help in relation to his issues.

Madison was handed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete the sex offenders’ treatment programme and a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

He must also sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

Notts paedophile who raped eight-year-old girl is jailed

Mark Whitehead

A man from Bulwell has been jailed for 16 years after raping a terrified Sutton schoolgirl when she was eight.

Mark Whitehead, 29, of Hucknall Lane, also admitted a string of other sex offences against the girl over a two-year period, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, still suffers nightmares.

Judge Stuart Rafferty told Whitehead: “You should be ashamed, and I hope you are.

“It is difficult to describe what you perpetrated against this wholly innocent child. You exploited her in a way no child of any age should be.

“It is perfectly apparent that you sought sexual gratification in a wholly inappropriate way, and used her. It was systematic and repeated. She may never fully recover.”

David Outterside, prosecuting, told the court that the abuse started when the girl was aged only seven. It came to light when she complained to her mum, and the police were called in.

In a video interview, the girl told officers: “He has been all over me. I tried to stop him, but he kept carrying on. I couldn’t move him away because he was too strong.”

The girl also told how the man hurt her. Video footage of her naked was even found by her mum on her mobile phone. It had been filmed by the man and sent to the girl.

Mr Outterside read statements to the court from the mum and her daughter.

“The emotional impact has been devastating,” said the mum. “I have been suffering from depression, and this has tipped me over the edge. I have been unable to cope.

“It has had massive consequences. The pressure on the whole family has been huge.

“I wanted my daughter to grow up in her teenage years without worries. He has ruined so much.”

The girl’s statement read: “I would like the judge to know how I feel. I find it difficult to get to sleep at night. All I can think about is him. I have had to go to the doctor’s, and sometimes I have nightmares about him.

“Before he was taken to prison (on remand), I was scared he would come and take me.

“My teacher says I am the bravest girl she knows. I haven’t recovered and I haven’t forgotten, but I feel I am coping better.”

The court heard that Whitehead originally pleaded not guilty. But positive results of sperm-stain tests added up to “overwhelming evidence” that persuaded him to change his plea just before a trial was due to take place.

Whitehead also pleaded guilty to a charge of producing cannabis after 12 plants were found in the loft at his home. He was jailed for 12 months, to run alongside the 16-year sentence.

The judge said: “You knew what you had done and yet you chose to plead not guilty to prolong the agony.”

Queen’s Park paedophile downloaded indecent images of children and animals

A paedophile from Queen’s Park has admitted downloading thousands of sickening images some featuring children and animals.

Edmund Lynch, 53, of Fifth Avenue, was caught with the indecent images following an undercover police operation into a notorious film company.

Westminster Magistrates Court heard he downloaded 4,105 photographs January 2010 and August 2015.

They included 19 images at the most serious Category A featuring children and bestiality.

Officers raided his house after he was identified as a customer who bought videos and DVD’s made by Azov films in Canada.

The company claims the movies feature naturist or naturalist pictures, of boys coming of age, but it’s nude young males in commercial films.

Edward Aydin, prosecuting, said: “This case originates from the Toronto Police department in Canada, as part of Operation Spade.

“The police officers conducted undercover operations identifying cases in more than 94 countries who had purchased videos and DVD’s made by Azov films.

“He [Lynch] had ordered sexual pictures and videos, and stored them on digital equipment.’

Mr Aydin told the court there were also 268 images at Category B and 3,818 at Category C.

Lynch pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs.

Bench chair Penny Hatfield sent the case to Southwark Crown Court for sentence on a date to be decided.

She said: “There is a small number of category A, but due to the number of images, this court does not have the sentencing power.

“We also take into account the scale of time that these images were accumulated.”

Pensioner caught with indecent images at his home in Leeds

POLICE discovered over 3,500 indecent images and movies of children after seizing computer equipment from a pensioner’s home in Leeds.

Marshall Morris was arrested after officers executed a search warrant at the property on Queenshill Gardens, Moortown, on June 29 last year.

Stephanie Hancock, prosecuting, said officers had received information that an internet service provider address linked to the property had been used to access illegal images.

Morris, 66, was at home on his own at the time and told officers: “I will save you some time.”

He then directed them to computers and equipment which he said he had used to access illegal images.

A total of 3,729 illegal images and movies were found on a USB stick and a hard drive.

Miss Hancock said 213 movies were at category A – the most serious level of offending.

The images featured young children of both sexes.

Some were described as “extremely young, vulnerable, children” aged between one and four years of age. Morris was interviewed and admitted full responsibility for the offending.

Miss Hancock said: “He said it was because he was 65 and did not have a partner and that he was bored and lonely.”

Morris pleaded guilty to three offences of making indecent images of children.

Michael Walsh, prosecuting, said Morris had admitted the offences at an early stage.

Mr Walsh said Morris had been frank with police and was willing to receive treatment to address his offending behaviour.

Morris was made the subject of a three-year community order, during which he must take part in a sex offender treatment programme.

He was also told he must go on the sex offender register for five years. An order was also made for the seizure and destruction of Morris computers and equipment.

The Recorder of Leeds, judge Peter Collier, QC, said: “It is quite clear from what I have read about you that you are someone who would benefit from doing a significant amount of work to understand what it was that led you to commit these offences.”

‘Horrifying’ child abuse images found on second-hand phone at Rugby Cash Generators

mullin

DISGUSTING child sexual abuse images were found on a second-hand iPhone by a horrified pawnbroker.

The police were contacted, and it was found that phone owner Ricky Mullin had also disturbingly been posing as a female agent to get teenage models to send him images of themselves.

Mullin, 41, of Murray Road, Rugby, was jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty at Warwick Crown Court to three charges of making indecent images of children.

Prosecutor Blondel Thompson said that towards the end of 2014 Mullin deposited his iPhone at the Cash Generators shop in Rugby, and later redeemed it.

He deposited it again in January last year, and after failing to redeem it by April, a staff member began to prepare the phone to be sold – and came across indecent images of children.

When he was arrested, Mullin denied any knowledge of the images.

On the phone, the police found 15 indecent images of children, of which two were classed as being in the most serious category A.

But Miss Thompson pointed out there were also more than 100 ‘indicative images’ of females involved in sexual activity, but whose ages could not be determined.

There were also messages, and when Mullin was interviewed again he admitted he had posed as a female agent for teenage models and had been sent pictures by would-be models.

Miss Thompson pointed out it was not known whether any of those were among the indecent images to which the charges related.

Although he admitted downloading the images, Mullin denied his motive was sexual, claiming he was ‘a lonely 40-year-old’ who found it easier to talk to teenage girls online.

Daniel Oscroft, defending, said: “At the time of these offences the defendant was a heavy user of crack cocaine. He had been introduced to it by his former partner.”

Referring to a pre-sentence report, he said there were ‘some disturbing aspects’ to that relationship, and Judge Andrew Lockhart QC observed: “This was a highly sexualised house that he remained in.”

Mr Oscroft said Mullin, who has now stopped using crack, accepts there was a sexual motivation for what he did.

And arguing for a suspended sentence or a community order with a sex offenders’ programme, Mr Oscroft added: “He is someone who is capable of redemption and will not pose an ongoing threat to children.”

But jailing Mullin and ordering him to register as a sex offender for ten years, Judge Lockhart told him: “Between November 2014 and March 2015 you were making indecent photographs of children by downloading them.

“One of (Cash Generators’) female employees saw the images I have just seen and was disturbed by them.

“You denied being responsible and made up a story of having it for only a few days and then selling it on.

“In a second interview you admitted downloading indecent images from the internet.

“You deny targeting young girls, but I find that a hard assertion to understand or accept. You had pretended to be a female called Paris or Louise, a model agent, and were getting people to send you images.

“In the light of the proclivity you had, I find that disturbing, but you are not charged with any offence in relation to that.”

Of the indecent images, the judge added: “These are serious offences. Every viewing perpetuates the abuse of those children, who may now be young women. They are abused each time someone like you looks at these images.

“More significantly, you left the images where others could readily view them, and that then happened

Perverted Plymouth musician jailed for sexually abusing three girls over two decades

fry

A former musician has been jailed for ten years after being found guilty of indecently assaulting three girls over more than two decades.

George Fry, aged 72, was found guilty of nine charges of indecent assault and one of attempted indecent assault on the girls between 1982 and 2002.

One of the girls estimated she was abused two or three times a month between the ages of 11 and 17.

At the time Fry was a professional singer and guitarist with the Plymouth band Wild Country.

Fry, now living in Heamoor, Penzance, had moved to the city in his 20s and started work in a factory. However, he gave it up to be a professional musician, playing at night in Plymouth pubs and clubs.

The first victim only came forward in 2013 when training for a professional post brought back some of her emotions from more than a decade before.

Police then traced two other victims who told similar stories of abuse.

One said she was regularly touched in bed by Fry for years but pretended to be asleep and tried not to think about what was happening.

Another said she told her mother of the abuse, only to be told she was having a “bad dream’.

In mitigation, Fry’s advocate Kelly Scrivener said the 72 year old’s early life was “horrendous” after his mother left him and his siblings to fend for themselves until a year later when social services was made aware. From the age of nine to 14 he lived with his grandparents. He suffered racism growing up in Cornwall because his grandmother was black.

Failing to find work in Cornwall he moved to Plymouth.

Ms Scrivener said over the past decade he had led “an unblemished life” and character references were offered to the Recorder for consideration.

Recorder Martin Meeke QC, said the evidence presented to the court by the three victims was “heart rending and clearly difficult for them to give”

He said Fry showed “not a single sign of emotion or of concern for any one of them” adding that his not guilty pleas were a “selfish and cold-hearted attempt to avoid conviction.”

Recorder Meeke said he had little doubt Fry’s childhood experienced had “marked” him but went on to describe the offences in details, noting the “campaign of sexual offending and degradation” of the young girls he abused.

He noted that he was sentencing Fry under the 1956 Sexual Offences Act, for incidents which under the 2003 Act would be considered oral rape of a child aged under 13 years, adding it was “difficult to perceive of a more indecent act”.

He sentenced Fry to a total of 10 years – five years and two years for the offences against the first girl to run consecutively, and a further 18 months for offences against each of the other two girls.

His licence was extended by a year to three-and-a-half year and Fry was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offender Register for life.

He was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order where he would not be able to communicate with any female child under 16 nor live in the same premises as a female child without authority of social services.

Six breaches of sex crime order

parn

A 25-YEAR-OLD man who admitted six breaches of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order has been handed two years of supervision.

Bristol Crown Court heard Shaun Parnell, 25, was placed under the order – a SOPO – by magistrates in August last year and it was designed to keep him away from youngsters aged under 16.

Parnell, whose address was withheld by the court, admitted falling foul of the SOPO by attending two parties, sleeping in a house where there were youngsters, going for a walk and cycle ride with children, as well as a fishing trip.

The breaches happened between September and October last year.

Julian Howells, prosecuting, told the court that, in September last year, Parnell attended two birthday parties were children were present, contradicting the terms of his order.

At one of the events, Parnell put up a bouncy castle and gazebo and chatted to youngsters, Mr Howells said.

The court heard Parnell also got drunk and stayed overnight at an address where youngsters were, again breaching his SOPO.

Parnell only admitted that he had previous criminal convictions for car crime to the children’s parents.

Mr Howells said further breaches occurred when Parnell went for a walk with youngsters in Dundry, as well as a cycle ride in Hengrove Park and a fishing trip.

A police spot check established Parnell was with the youngsters when he shouldn’t have been.

Parnell told police he had thought people knew about his SOPO, though accepted some didn’t.

The court heard his previous sexual offence involved an indecent assault on an 11-year-old girl, for which he was handed a community rehabilitation order, amended to 18 months in a young offenders’ institution.

Timothy Rose, defending, handed the court positive references for his client.

He stressed the SOPO breaches did not involve physical abuse of children.

He also told the court that Parnell’s father was also called Shaun and, following publicity surrounding the case, he had been the target of attacks.

The judge referred Parnell to the community learning disability service and said he would review the case on a monthly basis.

Paedophile raped babies, toddlers while in Malaysia

Richard Huckle

One of the most prolific paedophiles ever to have been brought before a UK court is being sentenced tomorrow

Former grammar schoolboy Richard Huckle, 30, from Ashford, Kent, targeted poverty-stricken communities in Malaysia and Cambodia, and – after winning the trust of locals – systematically abused 23 boys and girls as young as six months old.

The freelance photographer used religion and an English teaching qualification to gain access to children in an impoverished community in Malaysia.

He raped babies, toddlers and children – subjecting some to abuse over a seven-year period – and shared videos and pictures with fellow paedophiles on the dark web.

Details of the abuse can only now be reported because investigators had sought a court order allowing time to make sure the victims were safe from other online sexual predators.

Grammar school educated Huckle was arrested at Gatwick Airport in 2014 after Australian authorities alerted the National Crime Agency to his crimes.

Investigators found more than 20,000 abuse images on his computer, along with a handbook he wrote advising other paedophiles on how to abuse children and get away with it.

Huckle’s crimes were so serious that prosecutors planned three separate Old Bailey trials as they felt one jury could not cope with viewing all the videos and photographs of abuse.

In January, Huckle pleaded not guilty to all 91 charges, but ahead of his trial in April, he gradually admitted 71 of the offences over the course of five more hearings.

At his first plea hearing at the Old Bailey, it took more than an hour to read out all the charges.

According to one charge, Huckle had bragged: “I’d hit the jackpot, a 3yo girl as loyal to me as my dog and nobody seemed to care.”

Twenty-two of the offences he pleaded guilty to carry discretionary life sentences and 18 of these are multiple incident counts.

At an earlier hearing, Judge Peter Rook QC said: “You have pleaded guilty to 71 counts.

While he admits raping and molesting 23 youngsters, many more are thought to have fallen prey to him between 2006 and December 2014 when he was finally arrested as he returned to Britain for a Christmas holiday.

He even wrote a 60 page instruction manual for other perverts called Paedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide, which he shared in twisted chatrooms.

He treated his sick crimes like a game by awarding himself ‘paedo-points’ for how vile the offences were

Huckle’s favourite method was to target vulnerable children in poverty stricken communities, even boasting of his exploits to other paedophiles online.

In one posting he wrote: “Impoverished kids are definitely easier to seduce to than middle-class Western kids.”

He used sick sites on the dark web to sell images of his abuse to other child molesters, accepting payment in Bitcoins.

Huckle’s victims included boys, girls, toddlers, pre-teens and even babies, including one aged just six months old.

Huckle also kept an electronic ledger or score card on which he would award himself points according to how far his abuse had gone with a particular youngster

In one exchange found online, he wrote about “hitting the jackpot” after discovering a three-year-old girl who he said was as “loyal as a dog”.

Investigators found a posting in which he said: “I have found a three-year-old girl who I can have so much sex with it’s boring.”

Huckle also kept an electronic ledger or score card on which he would award himself points according to how far his abuse had gone with a particular youngster.

When detectives investigated his laptop, camera and phone they discovered more than 20,000 indecent images of young children, many featuring Huckle participating in abuse.

“As you know these amount to sexual offending of the utmost gravity and as a result I am considering life sentences in your case.”

He is thought to be only the third British man convicted under a recent law that allows the UK prosecution of “sex tourists”.

The sentencing is expected to last until Friday.

Ex-David Cameron aide,  walks free for making indecent child pictures as judge says punishment is his ‘very public humiliation’

rock

former aide to Prime Minister David Cameron has been given a two-year conditional discharge after downloading indecent pictures of girls as young as 10 in sexual poses.

Patrick Rock, 65, of Fulham had faced 20 charges of making an indecent photograph of a child, but argued the 20 images he downloaded on to his iPad over three days in August 2013 were not indecent.

A jury at Southwark Crown Court in London deliberated for more than eight hours on Tuesday and Wednesday before convicting him of five counts and acquitting him of three others.

Jurors were discharged after being unable to agree on the 12 other counts, which will lie on file.

Judge Alistair McCreath sentenced Rock to a two-year conditional discharge on each count, to run concurrently.

The judge said: “I have not lost sight of the obvious reality that right-thinking people will quite properly consider that those who did what you did should be punished for it.

“You should be. And you have been. The punishment for you is the loss of your reputation and your very public humiliation.

“It is a punishment which you brought on yourself, but is nonetheless a very real one. And it is one that is utterly merited.”

Rock must register as a sex offender for the duration of the two years and was also banned from using a device with the internet unless it can retain his browsing history and he surrenders it for inspection by police on request over the same period.

The court heard that the youngest of the girls in the pictures was just 10 when he downloaded it – meaning she would have been younger when it was taken.

The court heard Rock downloaded the images at a golf club while on a trip to visit family in the US.

Judge ‘very surprised’ at police caution for sex offender

A judge has expressed his surprise that a sex offender who admitted having sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl five years ago was only given a caution by police.

Lee Murray, aged 41, of High Street, Weston Favell, avoided court prosecution in 2011 after he was found to have engaged in sexual activity with a young teenage girl on three occasions after meeting her online.

Priyi Bakshi, prosecuting, said Murray had paid for the girl’s taxi fares to and from his address.

Murray was given a sexual harm prevention order in 2014, which had a number of conditions including a ban on him deleting his internet history or from contacting girls under the age of 18.

Northampton Crown Court heard on Tuesday Murray contacted a 14-year-old girl after she put an advert online on the Gumtree website appealing for baby-sitting jobs.

Ms Bakshi said Murray contacted the girl and pretended he had a 13-year-old daughter who needed an “older sister”.

Murray then sent the girl text messages from a different mobile phone pretending to be the daughter.

The court heard the messages were of a sexual nature.

Murray was arrested and several mobile phones were recovered from his address, and a number had the internet history deleted from them.

He pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Michael Fowler said he was “very surprised” that Murray had been given a caution by the police after he admitted having sexual activity with a child.

He said: “This case has a somewhat unusual history as you have not been in trouble with the courts before, although the circumstances you were given a caution lead me to be very surprised there was no court prosecution.”

Murray was given a three-year community order and must complete the sex offenders rehabilitation programme.

Marham airman admits possessing indecent images of children

A serving aircraftsman based at RAF Marham has today admitted possessing indecent images of children.

Adam Dobson, 28, pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing indecent photos and videos, plus a further charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image, during a hearing in Lynn yesterday.

The case was adjourned until June 24 for a pre-sentence report to be compiled.

But district judge Nicholas Watson told him: “A prison sentence is inevitable. The question I have to decide is how long it should be and whether I can impose it.”

Court papers showed the offences had been committed at Marham on May 20 last year.

Alison Cotterill, prosecuting, said the case came to light during an investigation initiated by the Metropolitan Police, which was then passed to the Staffordshire and Norfolk forces.

A total of 29 indecent images were found on a laptop and desktop computer, plus a separate hard disk.

And Miss Cotterill said the prosecution intended to seek a sexual harm prevention order because of the risk posed by Dobson.

Dobson, who gave the court an address in Doncaster, was bailed until his next court appearance.

Rattray man admits having indecent images of children

A man who had indecent photographs of children was ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid community work.

Perth Sheriff Court heard Mark Thomson, 46, of Glenshee Drive, Rattray, admit the charge which took place at his address between April 11 2013 and March 28 last year.

Solicitor John McLaughlin, appearing for Thomson, said there were seven images and one video, which was classed as category A.

“My client resigned from his job following this incident and is still looking for a job,” he said.

“He has had problems dealing with his case. He is now on more suitable medication.”

Thomson was also given two years’ supervision on a community programme order.

Dad of ten faces jail for abuse of two teenage girls

perv

A father-of-ten who used to live in Barrhead is facing jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting two young teenagers.

Robert Kerr could be caged for as long as five years for attacking the pair, who can’t be named for legal reasons, in the early 1990s.

The 56-year-old was in his 30s when he abused the youngsters, who were aged between 13 and 15 at the time, between July 1991 and November 1992.

After his trial this week he was also cleared of claims he sexually assaulted two girls at a house in Barrhead between 2010 and 2014.

Kerr denied he’d done anything wrong and went on trial over the sex abuse claims at Paisley Sheriff Court this week.

Two charges related to the two girls, whom he abused in the ‘90s, in the Thornliebank area.

His trial heard he sexually abused his first victim between July 14, 1991 and July 13, 1992. He denied using lewd indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the woman, who is now 39.

But she told his trial that, at a house in the area’s Kilvaxter Drive, he was naked in her presence, exposed his erect penis to her, made her touch it, forced her to sit on his lap and made her perform a sex act on him.

The younger girl, now 37, who was abused by Kerr between November 9, 1991, and November 9, 1992, at the same property, also gave evidence against him.

Now 37, the woman told the jury Kerr abused her between the ages of 13 and 14.

Kerr was also accused of assaulting two girls between 2010 and 2014. He denied abusing the girls at a property in Blackwood Street, Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, between August 1, 2010 and April 30, 2014.

Prosecutors claimed he preyed on one girl when she was aged between seven and 11. He also denied sexually assaulting another young girl, between the same dates, in the same way, when she was aged between six and 10.

And he was acquitted of the most recent assaults with the jury finding the charges in relation to those two girls not proven.

But the jury believed the two older women, and found him guilty by majority of breaking Section 5 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 1976.

Claims that he had forced the first girl to perform a particular sex act on him was deleted from the charge by the jury before they found him guilty.

Sentence on Kerr was deferred for him to be assessed by social workers and he will return to the dock next month.

Pervert awaits sentencing

west]

A VICTIM of historic sexual offences has spoken out about the devastating impact the indecent assaults have had on her life as her abuser awaits sentencing for his crimes.

Richard West, whose address is listed as Armstrong Rise, Charlton, was convicted of six counts of historic indecent assault against a young girl during a two-year period in the late 1970s after a jury found him guilty following a trial in November.

It took the panel of jurors 39 hours to return a majority guilty verdict after the 73-year-old denied the charges.

Six months later and the former RAF officer awaits sentencing.

“I didn’t have a childhood; he has ruined my life,” his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said following the trial. “I feel like my whole life has been taken up by this. It has always been there, I have been living like a robot just doing what I had to do to get by.”

The woman, who is now in her 50s, has attempted to take her own life on numerous occasions and has undergone years of extensive therapy to come to terms with what happened to her as a child.

“I have spent years feeling ashamed and guilty about what happened to me, like it was all my fault because that is how I was made to feel,” she continued. “It has affected my relationship with my husband, we have separate bedrooms. When my children were younger I just felt like I was existing.

“That is the one thing that really hurts, that I cannot get that time back with them and enjoy them. When I gave birth to my eldest I said to my husband ‘you touch her and I’ll go to prison for what I do to you’ – another thing ruined by the past. It should have been a happy occasion, that was our first child together.”

“I truly believe if I had not met my husband I would not be here now. I feel like he saved my life and now he has been fighting for his.”

West originally faced 11 allegations of historic sexual offences but the jury did not return a verdict on the further five charges against another witness.

Continuing to describe how the crimes have affected her everyday life she said: “People tell me I’m strong but I don’t feel strong, I feel like I’m pretending to be strong. At work, if something goes wrong and I know it’s not me that has done it, I feel like it is my fault, that I’m going to get the blame.

“I get the bus to work and I have to sit at the back because I can’t bear anybody to be behind me after what he did to me.”

Talking about when the verdict was read out, she said: “It was a bit muddled at first but then she said guilty on all counts. I just screamed and fell on the floor but even him being found guilty does not make it go away.”

At the time of going press, West continues to await sentencing.

Paedophile, 26, travelled 100 miles to rape girl, 12

markg

A paedophile travelled 100 miles to rape a 12-year-old girl and threatened to circulate explicit pictures she sent him at her school, a court heard.

Mark Greenall, 26, persuaded her to send him indecent images of herself with ‘a relentless tsunami’ of requests after they met on an online chatroom and swapped mobile numbers.

When she refused to send him pictures of herself in her underwear or topless, he threatened to print images she had already sent and hand them out to her classmates.

He pressurised her to have sex with him and when she refused, he posted a topless picture of her on a website and sending her a screengrab to show her he was serious. He even threatened to kill himself in order to manipulate the girl.

She eventually agreed and Greenall travelled 119 miles from his home in Liverpool to a hotel in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, where he raped and orally raped her on February 12.

Greenall pleaded guilty to two charges of rape and one of oral rape earlier this year but the case was adjourned to give the prosecution time to consider charging him with further offences.

He has now also admitted making indecent images of the girl, distributing images of her and disclosing a ‘private sexual photograph’ with intent to cause her distress.

Greenall is currently in custody and was due to be sentence on Friday but the judge refused after he was haded a detailed report saying he poses a danger to children too late to be properly considered.

Warwick Crown Court Recorder Michael Burrows QC said: ‘Ten to six on a Friday and I am handed a report which says he’s a high risk of [causing] sexual harm.

‘I am troubled by the issue of dangerousness. I need time to consider this. I’m not going to start to sentence at ten to six, having been handed a report like this.’

The judge adjourned the case until later this month but rejected an application for Greenall to be granted bail.

He added: ‘We are only talking about the length of the sentence not the nature of it. I think it’s best he starts that today.’

The court heard Greenall first made contact with the girl, who lives with her family in north Warwickshire, through a chat site and they then also began exchanging text messages.

Prosecutor Delroy Henry said there were over 2,000 pages of texts between Greenall and the victim, with 80 pages containing messages of a sexual nature.

He added: ‘What then happens is that the defendant embarks on a relentless tsunami of requests for images of her.

‘On some days there are persistent requests for images of an indecent nature, despite her reluctance, and when she refuses he becomes manipulative.

‘Matters persist in which this defendant introduces explicit sexual language which is very graphic and very detailed and he seeks to encourage her to get her friends to take images as well.’

The court heard to encourage the girl to send pictures Greenall told her he would send her presents.

He sent her a picture of a diamond ring and on one occasion he falsely claimed to have taken an overdose because of her reluctant attitude.

Prosecutor Mr Henry said Greenall then moved on to introduce the topic of them meeting and going to a hotel room for sex.

To punish her for her reluctance to ‘meeting and f*****g me’ he posted a snap of the girl exposing her breasts on a website and sent her a screen-grab to show what he had done.

He persuaded the girl to meet him for sex and booked a room at a hotel in Bermuda Park, Nuneaton, which he travelled to from Liverpool by train on February 12.

Mr Henry added: ‘She had told her mother she was staying at a friend’s house, a lie he had encouraged her to tell, and they checked into room 418 where they spent the night together.

‘He undressed her and raped her both orally and vaginally and the next morning he asked her for sex again, and they embarked on intercourse before showering together and getting dressed and leaving the hotel room.’

The court heard Greenall was caught after the girl’s mother saw a Facebook message to the effect that she was no longer a virgin, having slept with her boyfriend in a hotel.

Police were called and were able to identify the paedophile from CCTV footage of him checking in and the credit card he had used to pay for the room.
