Jail for Luton paedophile who followed kid and ‘fantasised’ about rape

kelly

A MAN who fantasised about raping children and followed them to their homes has been jailed for 12 years.

Stephen Kelly, 50, of Montrose Avenue, Luton, was already listed as a sex offender, and pleaded guilty to attempting to arrange or facilitate a sexual offence against a child, as well as four counts of breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Kelly first came to the attention of investigators from Bedfordshire Police when he was writing disturbing stories based on pictures of young children dressed in nappies.

In 2015, he was convicted of offences relating to the possession of indecent images of children and made subject to an order restricting him from contact with or proximity to children.

Kelly, whose sick urges led him to follow children he lived near or would see in town, was kept under close watch by Bedfordshire Police’s Violent and Sex Offender Management Team (VSOMT).

As a result of their regular contact, the team discovered Kelly’s activities had breached the terms of his order and also led to admissions which allowed them to charge him with the serious offence of attempting to facilitate the rape of a child he had spotted by waiting outside her home.

At Luton Crown Court, Kelly was sentenced to 12 years for attempting to facilitate a sexual offence against a child as well as 12 months for each breach of his order, to be served concurrently.

Kelly will be eligible to apply for parole after six years and, if granted, he would spend the remainder of his sentence on extended licence.

Convicted Greenwich paedophile found after police search

55

A paedophile convicted of 13 counts of rape and indecent assault against children between nine and 15 years old has been found after a police hunt.

Richard Pentreath, 63, also known as Hilary Thomas, was wanted for sentencing after he was convicted in his absence of offences against three children in Greenwich, London and Coventry between 1975 and 1992.

He was arrested this morning in Gloucester by local officers working with detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.

Pentreath, of Bishop’s Cleeve, Gloucestershire, failed to attend the conclusion of his trial at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, October 4.

An investigation was launched in 2013, when one of Pentreath’s victims contacted the police and told them about the abuse she suffered as a child.

Her evidence led to police contacting two other victims.

During his trial the court heard that Pentreath committed offences against two girls and a boy, who were between the ages of nine and 15 years old.

Police in North Wales also wanted to speak to Pentreath about arson at an address in Prestatyn, Wales during the early hours of Thursday, October 6.

Pentreath also has links to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and areas of Cornwall.

Jailed: Wirral paedophile had obscene images of children as young as six

taylor

A paedophile who breached a court order restricting his internet use has been jailed for 12 months.

David Taylor, who has convictions for downloading 25,000 indecent images of children and historic child abuse, was arrested after police called at his Wirral home.

An officer made a routine visit to check he was complying with the order restricting his internet use and found that he was not obeying it.

His laptop was seized and when forensically examined it was found to contain 36 images in each of the three categories of seriousness, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

65-year-old Taylor, of Alexandra Road, Oxton, pleaded guilty to four charges involving downloading and possessing indecent images of children.

The court heard children in the images included some as young as six.

Jailing him the judge, Recorder Anthony Long said, “It is suggested you might respond to the Northumbria Sex Offenders Programme.

“In my judgement you have had ample opportunities over the years for help for what is obviously a serious problem but you have failed to take that help or act upon it.

“You were the subject of an order preventing you accessing the internet for this purpose but you went ahead and did it anyway.”

He imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years.

Former Wallasey Sea Cadets volunteer jailed for sexually abusing teenage boy

A FORMER volunteer with the Sea Cadets was jailed for sexually abusing a teenage boy in his care.

Merchant seaman David Taylor held a lieutenant’s rank in the Wallasey Sea Cadets when he carried out a three-year campaign of abuse against the boy.

Liverpool crown court heard the abuse only came to light after Taylor was jailed in 2010 for possession of child porn and his now grown-up victim realised by not speaking up more children may have suffered.

Kim Egerton, prosecuting, said the sexual abuse was carried out during the 1980s when Taylor would return from sea and would “groom” the boy, buying him sweets and equipment in exchange for sexual favours.

She said: “The police got to know about it after the complainant saw in the newspaper that the defendant had been prosecuted for indecent images and realised that if he had said something sooner those offences might not have occurred.”

The victim described his abuser as “a very, very nice man” and said he did not use force on him but said he had felt guilty for his entire life.

Taylor, 61, of Great Howard Street, Vauxhall, has previous convictions for abusing boys under 16 going back to the 1980s and 1990s and was jailed for 27 months in 2010 for possession of child pornography.

He was banned from working with children after that conviction.

When arrested this year he gave no comment to police but pleaded guilty to six offences of sexual assault when he went to court.

Jonathon Duffy, defending, said Taylor was sorry for what he had done.

He added: “He has reflected on his conduct and realises the pain he has caused and the enduring problems he has suffered.”

Judge Stephen Clarke jailed Taylor for 30 months adding he was constrained by the laws of the time as to sentence.

Taylor was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Paedophile teacher used fake social media accounts to lure children – jailed

ock

A TEACHER who admitted inciting sexual activity with children using fake social media accounts has been jailed.

Cory Baptiste, 24, previously of Fanns Rise in Purfleet, was sentenced to four years imprisonment for sexual offences, but this was reduced to two years eight months due to an early guilty plea.

He admitted five offences of abuse of a position of trust: one of causing or inciting sexual activity with a boy aged 13-17, one of causing or inciting sexual activity with a girl aged 13-17, one of causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act and two of causing a child aged 13-17 to watch a sexual act.

He also admitted failing to appear in court on August 12.

He absconded to Spain but was apprehended in Barcelona on Thursday, October 6 following a Spanish National Police led operation supported by the National Crime Agency and Essex Police.

Baptiste, a former teacher at the Ockendon Academy, in Erriff Drive, South Ockendon, was given a further four months imprisonment for failing to answer his bail, making the total sentence three years.

Baptiste was arrested on Tuesday, January 6, this year.

Essex Police’s Online Investigation Team launched an enquiry following a referral from the National Crime Agency.

He used fake social media accounts including Facebook and Snapchat in the names of Daniel Jenkins, Danielle Mason and Dan Bounce Jenny to commit the offences.

A man has been sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for a series of sexual assaults on two boys, police said

After a thorough police investigation, and following a week-long trial at Chichester Crown Court in August, Roy Thorp, 72, of Brook Way, Lancing, was found guilty of 11 counts of sexual assault on a male and five counts of gross indecency with a child.

On Friday, October 21, at the same court, he was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment by judge Christopher Parker.

He was also issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) restricting his access to children, and will be a registered sex offender for life, police added.

Nine historic offences happened against one boy at various addresses and locations in West Sussex, police said.

Five were of indecent assault and four were of incitement to gross indecency.

Police said the other boy was offended against eight times at various locations and addresses, principally in East Sussex.

Six offences were of indecent assault and two were of gross indecency.

Dangerous paedophile jailed for abusing three young children

uk1

A paedophile has been jailed for abusing his own daughter and sexually assaulting two other youngsters.

Belfast man David Osborne subjected his own daughter to years of sexual abuse over a six year period between 1997 and 2003. He started abusing her when she was just nine-years-old.

During the trial, he was also found guilty of sexually assaulting two other young children. However police suspected that there could of been other victims.

Osborne faced a total of 47 charges which he denied, forcing the young victims to give evidence in court against him.

The jury found him guilty on charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, indecent assault and other sexual offences relating to the three children.

He was sentenced to a total of 21-years, but because the individual sentences were concurrent, he was told he must serve a minimum of seven.

Paedophile who was almost murdered faces jail for child abuse

harry

He was described as a ‘gentle, kind and helpful’ man who was devoted to his dogs after he was tortured and left for dead in a pool of his own blood.

But in fact Harry Campbell was a paedophile who had carried out a series of sex attacks on young boys and girls.

He’s now been convicted of three offences against children as young as seven and has been told to expect a lengthy jail sentence.

Teesside Crown Court heard that the 68-year-old almost lost his life when he was set upon by a man who severely beat him up and who in turn is now serving a life sentence.

His house was ransacked, his suffered head injuries, bleeding on the brain, knife wounds, fractures to the face and jaw, and was kept in an induced coma.

Following the attack he was described as a kind man who was devoted to his dogs.

But, he had kept the secret of his child abuse a secret since the 70s and 80s when he targeted young children.

Campbell was found guilty of three charges – the jury did not come to a decision on two others and he may face a retrial.

He was cleared of making a boy and girl, aged five and seven, watch him have sex with his ex-girlfriend.

Praising the jury for listening to what he described as a ‘difficult’ case, Judge Ashurst said Campbell’s victims would be offered the chance to attend the sentencing hearing.

After the ruling Campbell appeared crestfallen, gazing vacantly ahead in silence as he was told he would be heading straight to jail.

Frail Campbell, of Brookside in Boosbeck, is already starting what is likely to be a lengthy prison sentence after judge Stephen Ashurst said: “To grant him bail at this stage would be offering him false hope.”

Monday’s hearing heard Campbell’s GP will be asked to give an update on his health ahead of his sentencing.

That is expected to detail how he is recovering from the vicious beating he endured.

The trial heard Sullivan repeatedly stabbed Campbell repeatedly with a 12 inch knife which was caked in blood.

Campbell was found in a pool of his own blood at his home which had been “ransacked”, suffering head injuries, brain bleeding, knife wounds and fractures to the face and jaw.

He was kept in an induced coma before he underwent six hours of surgery.

It took a jury around the same amount of time to convict Campbell, who had denied a total of 11 charges, after they began deliberations on Friday.

Paedophile spared jail after admitting raft of indecent images

A pervert who watched young children being abused online has been slapped with a community order.

Phillip Wilson admitted downloading almost 100 indecent images and 16 movies featuring youngsters between five and 13 years old.

Handing the sex offender a two-year community order yesterday, Judge Ian Pringle QC told Wilson he would take a ‘merciful’ course and spare him from jail.

He added: “Some people quite wrongly think there are no real victims when they simply look at images on a screen. They’re wrong.

“These are real children that you are watching being abused and if you are ever tempted to look at such images again, just remind yourself, when you flick the switch, that’s what you are doing – creating a market for abusing children.”

Prosecutor Cathy Olliver told Oxford Crown Court police seized Wilson’s laptop after searching his home in Prescott Avenue, Banbury.

Wilson, who appeared at the court via video link from Bullingdon Prison, initially told officers he had only viewed sexually explicit material involving adults, denying he shared indecent images with others.

But the 30-year-old later admitted to his crime after police discovered the illegal material on his laptop, revealing he tried to delete most of it.

Wilson, who admitted seven counts of making indecent images of children, was also made subject to a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, must pay a victim surcharge and sign the sex offenders register.

Paedophile caught with sick stash of child abuse images

doug

A paedophile whose sick stash of child sexual abuse images was found after he bragged about his horde to a fellow visitor to a gay rights conference has avoided a jail term.

Douglas Thomson told another person at an LGBT conference in Glasgow that he had “stuff he wouldn’t want others to see” on his computer at home when they asked to borrow his laptop.

His acquaintance then found search terms on the laptop so disturbing that they called police.

Cops then raided his home in Dundee and uncovered his sick haul.

Fiscal depute Saima Paedophile caught with sick stash of child abuse images after bragging about disgusting images at gay rights conference Rasheed told Dundee Sheriff Court: “The accused was at the European LGBT conference in Glasgow when a witness asked to borrow his laptop. He said yes.

“He added that he kept his porn on his other laptop and said it was stuff he wouldn’t want others to see.

“The witness saw searches in his history that were concerning, such as ‘man f*****g son porn’.

“The matter was reported to police on August 8 last year.

“His home was searched on September 4 and his laptops were seized.

“It was forensically examined and it was confirmed indecent images were present.

“A total of 271 indecent images were found on his second laptop.

“His phone was also searched and showed search terms suggesting he had searched for child abuse images.”

Thomson, 21, of Drumlithie Place, Dundee, pleaded guilty on indictment to downloading indecent images of children between December 12 2013 and September 4 2014.

Sheriff Alastair Carmichael imposed a community payback order with 200 hours unpaid work, three years supervision and conduct requirements around his internet usage and contact with children.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years.

Pensioner jailed for “horrific” sexual abuse against three girls over nearly 40 years

don

A pensioner isolated and committed “horrific” sexual abuse against three girls over nearly 40 years.

Donald Eaton groomed and molested his victims, one aged as young as four, between the 1950s and 1990s.

The 84-year-old, of Langford Road in Aigburth, admitted nine counts of indecent assault at Liverpool Crown Court .

Eaton, using a walking stick in the dock, also pleaded guilty to a charge of indecency with a child.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, today jailed him for eight and a half years, with an extended two years on licence.

He said an attack on one of the girls “was such a horrific act that she will never forget it”.

Judge Watson said: “It’s hard to imagine a more traumatic set of circumstances for the three individuals concerned.”

The offending began when Eaton was in his early 20s, having been discharged from the army on mental health grounds after serving in Korea.

Paul Treble, prosecuting, said in each case the paedophile “would try and isolate them and take advantage of them”.

The first victim was confused by the abuse and only realised many years later what Eaton actually did.

Donald William Eaton, 84

She told the court she felt guilty because reporting it sooner could have spared future victims.

The woman said: “I have struggled since and for the rest of my life keeping the memory to myself, sort of burying the thoughts.

“I am now left full of sadness and loss, feeling sick every day and suffering disturbed sleep nightly.”

Mr Treble said the second victim also struggled to understand but now felt Eaton “robbed her of her innocence”.

The woman said: “This man is a dangerous sexual deviant and not to be trusted around children.”

His third victim sobbed as she recalled the “horrors” perpetrated by Eaton, which “changed my life forever”.

She said the “twisted” pervert filmed himself abusing her and “used me like a puppet in his sick games”.

The woman added: “I still suffer from anxiety, nightmares and feelings of panic.

“I had to have cognitive behavioural therapy to try and cope.”

Judge Watson told Eaton to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and gave him an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Paedophile jailed for seven years for offences against young girl

robertv

A CEFNLLWYD man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after admitting 10 charges of assaulting a young girl and encouraging her to carry out acts of gross indecency.

Robert Vincent, 58, of Gwynfa, Cefnllwyd, near Penrhyncoch, had admitted at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court in August five charges of indecent assault and five charges of inciting gross indecency against a girl under the age of 14.

Magistrates heard that all of the offences were against the same girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and were committed over a five-year period in the 1980s.

After sentencing was passed to Swansea Crown Court because of the seriousness of the offences, Vincent appeared in front of Judge Paul Thomas QC on Tuesday, 19 October, where he was imprisoned for seven years.

The judge also sentenced Vincent to an extra year on licence.

Man jailed after he groomed and raped schoolgirl when he was a child

Pervert Craig Braham has been jailed after he was convicted of grooming a child and raping her when he was 13.

The 23-year-old was found guilty by a jury of sexually abusing his victim, who was much younger than him, ten years ago.

The jury was told the defendant would get the girl on her own before committing the offences.

Now Braham has been jailed for six years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Sally Hancox said: “The victim was a child and was particularly vulnerable because of her extreme youth. There was grooming and deliberate isolation of the victim so the offences could take place.”

In a statement read to the court, the victim said: “Even though he has hurt me I will not let him ruin my life. This has turned my family upside down and caused my dad heartache. He still sees me as his little girl. When I first disclosed I started to feel I was to blame and believed it was my fault. I wanted to hurt myself with anything sharp.

“When taking my GCSEs I always had this on the back of my mind. This resulted in me not doing as well as I could have done. He made me feel used and no worth to anyone. What he did to me was unforgivable. He took my childhood from me.”

Braham, of Dayson Place, Bradwell, denied rape, assault by penetration, and inciting sexual behaviour but was convicted of all three offences after a trial last month.

The court heard since committing these offences the defendant has been convicted of sending offensive messages – pictures of his private parts – and exposure.

Anis Ali, mitigating, said the defendant, a dad, continues to deny the offences.

Mr Ali said: “He recognises the very real and difficult situation he finds himself in by reason of the evidence put before the jury. The offences are historic. It is recognised he has changed his attitude.”

Jailing Braham, Judge David Fletcher said: “These offences were disturbing and were offences which you committed when you were all but a child yourself.

“You took the opportunity when it presented itself to sexually assault her. You also took advantage by persuading her to behave in a sexual manner towards you.”

The judge said it was not necessary to treat Braham as a dangerous offender.

But he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life.

Man spared jail for Facebook bid to have sex with girl, 15

A 30 year old Brockworth man with a ‘very low IQ’ has been spared jail after he used Facebook to try to entice a 15 year old girl to have sex.

Ashley Rogers of Vicarage Court, Brockworth, pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday to attempting to incite the girl into having non-penetrative sexual activity during January 2015.

He was sentenced to three years probation with a 60 day activity programme and fined £40. He was also ordered to sign the sex offender register.

Prosecutor Janine Wood said the offence began when Rogers, using the false name Ben Jones, made a friend request to the girl on Facebook. She thought he was a boy she had met a couple of years earlier and she accepted.

When she began chatting with him via the social media site she noticed that most of his other friends appeared to be girls pictured wearing underwear, said Mrs Wood.

“He asked her about herself and suggested meeting her in Cheltenham,” she said.

“He also asked her for her mobile number and she gave it to him. He then texted her saying what he wanted to do to her, which she found disgusting. That was on January 29 last year.”

Mrs Wood told the judge “Your Honour has the text of what was said between them and I won’t repeat it in court. “

Judge Jamie Tabor QC said “It was getting pretty gross.”

Mrs Wood said the girl’s mother became concerned and took the girl’s phone from her. She saw the defendant trying to contact her daughter again on January 30 and February 3.

“Again he was saying what he would like to do to her,” said Mrs Wood. “But she did not take the bait and she did not encourage him. She made excuses. When he asked to meet her she said she couldn’t.

“The police were then informed and made enquiries which led to the defendant in Vicarage Court.

“Among property seized from his home, including his mobile phone, was a packet of girls pants for age group 13/14. The seized phone was found to be the one that had been used to create the false Facebook account.”

Mrs Wood said Rogers had one previous conviction, when he was 26, when he got a conditional dischgarge after a missing girl was found in his company.

At the start of the case yesterday Judge Tabor had questioned whether it was really in the public interest to prosecute Rogers given his IQ of only 69 – in the bottom two percent of the population.

But Mrs Wood said the Crown Prosecution Service had reviewed the case and decided to proceed.

Sentencing Rogers the judge said “You know what you did was wrong. You knew it was wrong because you had to pretend to be someone else.

“Although you may not be the sharpest tool in the box you knew how to do that. It was a bad thing to do.

“I accept you did it partly out of loneliness and I have some sympathy for you if you are lonely but you must not do this sort of thing again.

“You would do far better to find a young woman nearer your own age and talk to her face to face rather than have secretive messages with girls you should not be messaging at all.”

Bowthorpe man sentenced over indecent images

A man from Bowthorpe, Norwich, has been jailed for two-and-a-half years, for sending indecent images of himself to young girls he was chatting to online.

Jamie Palmer, who is 36, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday, October 25, having pleaded guilty to eight offences; six counts of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity, possession of indecent images and distribution of indecent images, committed between April and May in 2015.

Police recieved information about Palmer in May 2015, when indecent images were uploaded to Instagram.

Palmer’s home address, then in Reepham, was raided by the police in June 2015, when Palmer’s electrical devices were seized.

Officers examined the items, and Palmer’s phone was revealed to contain 140 indecent images and conversations with young girls online.

Palmer had been chatting to girls aged between 13 and 15, pushing them to engage in sexual activity, asking girls to send him photos of themselves and sending explicit images of himself.

Palmer pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced to a total of two-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for five years.

Stockton man admits having 3,435 indecent photographs of children

A man could face prison after he admitted having more than 3,000 indecent pictures of children.

James Hyland, 42, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent photographs of children at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.

He admitted making a total of 3,435 illegal images on dates before November 18 last year.

Paul Cleasby, defending, said: “There’s a real risk of a custodial sentence in this case.”

He asked for sentencing to be adjourned for pre-sentence reports and psychiatric reports to be prepared.

Judge Howard Crowson agreed, bailing Hyland until he is expected to learn his fate on January 16 next year.

He told the defendant: “By that time we should have everything ready to sentence you.

“In order to get the right sentence I will want some more information about you.

“Bail doesn’t mean you won’t go to prison at the end of this. You might.”

Hyland, of Timothy Court, Stockton , will now be on the sex offenders’ register.

An Oxford rapist is ‘where he belongs’ after he was convicted of child sex offences last week.

Paul Wells, 45, from High Street, Beckley, was found guilty of a number of sex offences with children by a unanimous jury at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday last week after a seven-day trial.

He was found guilty of eight offences of sexual activity with a child, one count of rape of a female aged 15 and under and two counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

The offences took place in Oxfordshire between 2011 and 2013 and involved two girls aged under 16.

He will be sentenced on November 18 at the same court.

Seaman caught with child abuse pictures after scaring girl, eight, in ladies’ toilets at airport

A seaman was caught with child abuse pictures after photographing his own privates in the female toilets of a North East airport.

Chief Officer Tor Mikalsen told the authorities he was using his laptop in the ladies’ loo at Newcastle Airport to take illicit shots he had planned to send to a woman over Facebook.

When the married 50-year-old’s computer was examined, police found two downloaded images – one a sketch drawing and one a computer-generated picture – of child abuse.

Mikalsen, who had been working on a ship in Scotland for three weeks, had been heading home to Norway when he was collared. At Newcastle Crown Court today, he pleaded guilty to making pseudo photographs of children and was jailed for three months, with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Mikalsen came to the authorities’ attention on August 21 when an eight-year-old girl using an adjacent cubicle in the toilet spotted his laptop and thought he was taking a picture of her. When the upset child informed her family, who were due to fly on holiday, the police were called.

Prosecutor Neil Pallister told the court: “Officers viewed the laptop and immediately saw a picture of the defendant, the defendant’s penis. “

He told officers he was going to send that picture to a female he had been talking to on Facebook. “

Police then looked through the laptop further and saw two indecent images of young children, of a sexual nature.”

Mikalsen told police he had gone into the wrong toilet accidentally after becoming unwell and confused due to diabetes.

He claimed he used the child abuse images to “trap paedophiles”, an excuse Judge Paul Sloan QC said he was sceptical about.

The judge said Mikalsen was a “highly qualified” individual who had been going through a “difficult period” and drinking too much, resulting in three UK court appearances over the summer for vandalism, public order and burglary.

Nine years behind bars for Northallerton man who admitted child sex charges

nor

A NORTH Yorkshire man who groomed and had a sexual relationship with a teenage girl after meeting her at a Midland riding school is now behind bars.

Stuart Moreland, 37, from Northallerton, has been jailed for nine years after admitting admitted six charges of sexual activity with a child.

The court heard that following the offences the young victim had become a “shell of her former self”.

The story came out after the victim revealed to someone at the school what had been happening to her in August this year.

Robert Davies, prosecuting at Birmingham Crown Court, said Moreland, who was married and a father himself, had initially sent “flirtatious” texts to the teenager and had “challenged” her to kiss him the next time they met.

He added: “What took place between them then developed into a full sexual relationship for many months.”

Mr Davies said on one occasion a sexual act had taken place in a field and that Moreland had told the victim to delete texts he sent to her, although police were able to retrieve some of them.

When quizzed, the teenager said it was her first sexual experience and she had been sworn to keep the relationship a secret

The victim’s father told the court her ordeal had greatly affected their lives and the family had struggled to cope with the consequences.

“A loving and carefree teenager has been replaced by an angry and bewildered child,” he said.

“She is a shell of her former self.”

Passing sentence, Judge Kirstie Montgomery told Moreland: “She was described by her family as being quiet and dedicated to her passion for horses.

“You were a married man with a child at the time you began to abuse her.

“You were audacious and arrogant in the way you abused her telling her to delete texts that would trace the relationship.

“You used a form of emotional blackmail to ensure her silence. You exploited her, groomed her and sexually abused her.

“It has had a devastating effect on that family.”

The judge said it had also been an aggravating feature that Moreland had a previous conviction for having sex with a teenage girl in 2000 at a youth club.

Pervert locked up after raping unconscious girl while friend filmed it on mobile phone

Two perverts have been locked up over the rape and sexual assault of a drunk and unconscious girl as her friend filmed it on a mobile phone.

Jamie Leppard, of Sword Grove, Wainscott, was convicted in June of raping the victim.

lepp

Harry Ludlow, of Leeward Road, Rochester, admitted one offence of sexually assaulting the girl.

harry

Tommy Conway, 19, of no fixed address, denied two offences of sexually assaulting her, but was convicted.

tommy

Ludlow was also to be sentenced for four offences of sexual activity with a child when the victim was 10 years old, but his case was adjourned for four weeks for a medical assessment.

Leppard, 19, was sentenced to eight years youth custody and Conway, 19, to two years and five months.

Judge Philip Statman said the vulnerable victim had been “humiliated and degraded”.

“She was comatose through drink,” he told Leppard. “She was completely unable to consent because she was unconscious.”

Maidstone Crown Court heard the 18-year-old rape victim was so inebriated that she was not aware of what happened until the friend later sent her the video clips.

She had earlier been to a birthday party in Medway and drank “everything from vodka, Malibu, Bacardi, beer and wine”.

Around midnight in March last year she and a friend met up with Leppard, then aged 17.

They, Conway, Ludlow and others bought vodka and went to a house in Medway.

There, they played drinking games.

After Leppard led the girl upstairs the friend burst into the bedroom shouting: “Oi, oi”. She saw Leppard on top of her friend and said “Oh s—”.

As she filmed them, Conway and Ludlow ran into the room. Conway jumped on top of Leppard while he was having sex.

He and Ludlow were imitating Leppard’s motions and making groaning noises.

Prosecutor Nina Ellin said the victim was “clearly unconscious or out of it, or passed out – or just asleep”.

The friend went downstairs but reflected on what she had seen and went back. Leppard was now behind the girl having sex with her. Conway was lying near them.

Ludlow entered the room and he and Conway slapped her bare bottom. Conway said “Man, give me a turn” as he fiddled with his bottoms.

Leppard then stopped having sex saying: “No way. She is asleep innit. ——- a girl that’s asleep innit, that’s technical rape.”

They all left her naked and face down on the bed. Leppard’s friends later described him as “a legend”.

Catherine Farrelly, for Leppard, said the teenager was very immature when the offence was committed.

“He is from a very good, decent, hard-working family,” she said. “He has a history of self-harm. He doesn’t seek to use it to his advantage.”

Miss Farrelly added she entirely accepted the victim was vulnerable.

Judge Statman said the victim’s friend started to film what was happening because she thought it would be a bit of a laugh.
“But in the course of that which occurred thereafter she realised this was no laughing matter,” he said.
“Having watched the video I am sure that when filming commenced on the second occasion she was unconscious. She was comatose through drink.”
The judge said of Leppard’s filmed comment at the end of the rape that it was “technically rape” if a girl was asleep: “I make it absolutely clear there is nothing technical about it at all – this is rape.”
Leppard had unprotected sex with the girl and did not enquire whether she was on the pill.
“It seems to me over and above all this one has a victim here who would never have known about that sexual act perpetrated upon her but for the fact it is later she is told by her friend she had been the subject of  filming.
“I am satisfied this is a case where you had a deep-seated streak of arrogance that materially affects the way you react towards women and this needs to be addressed and focussed upon in the future.
“The impact on her of not knowing you had sex with her, according to her victim personal statement, understandably caused her great distress.
“It resulted in her having to go for doctor’s appointments. As she rightly says in her statement in her state of unconsciousness and not knowing what happened to her she could have woken up three months thereafter to find herself pregnant and not knowing who the father of the child was.
“Thankfully, that is not the case. You took advantage of her vulnerability.”

Judge Statman said the filming was not instigated by Leppard but formed a valuable part of the prosecution case.

“At the age of 19 you know what the rules are in regard to sexual conduct without any doubt whatsoever.

“Regrettably, from start to finish you have shown absolutely no remorse for that which you have done.”

Leppard’s name will appear on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely and he will be barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.

A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the victim.

A jury acquitted Leppard of one charge of rape at a previous trial but could not reach a verdict on a second rape charge.

A retrial was ordered and he was convicted by the second jury.

Sordid paedophile ‘scared girl beyond belief’ in Beverley sex attack

stephen-tyler-thorngumbald

A paedophile who groomed and abused a girl he met “by chance” told her she would be “sold to another family” as he drove her to Beverley Westwood to assault her.

After indecently assaulting the girl, who was in tears, Stephen Tyler reminded her he had a knife in the car and told her about “butchering cows”.

This was to “scare her beyond belief” a judge said, as he jailed Tyler, now 58, for seven years.

The abuse took place in the 1990s when the girl was eight or nine.

It also included an occasion when Tyler went into the girl’s home knowing her parents were out.

Hull Crown Court heard she was so traumatised when the abuse finally came to light her husband considered having her sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Tyler, of Elm Tree Avenue, Thorngumbald, denied the abuse but was convicted by a jury of three indecent assaults and indecency with a child.

The jury was not told he had already admitted two offences relating to 1,835 indecent images of children police found on his computer.

Of the sample that were graded by police, 31 images were Category A – the most serious – 36 were at Category B, and 274 at Category C.

Before sentencing, prosecutor Simon Reevell said there were “elements of abduction” to the Westwood incident.

Richard Thompson, for Tyler, said it was “not a case where anybody was suggesting the complainant was abducted”.

Mr Reevell said the girl’s parents had not made such a complaint because they had not known about it.

Mr Reevell said the victim’s evidence was that she was told “when she was taken to Beverley that she may be sold to another family, and given descriptions about the way animals are butchered by a man who had her in his car with a knife”.

Tyler had no other previous convictions.

Recorder David Dixon said Tyler had shown a “complete lack of remorse”.

He told him: “It seems to me that in the 1990s you came across [the victim] by chance.

“You set about grooming her, you befriended her and bought her gifts.

“That continued, and you started a campaign of gradually touching, by touching of the sort no one would think anything was amiss, but gradually became more, and more, and more.

“You did things behind [her] parents’ backs.

“The very nature of your offending required you to be dishonest and secretive.”

The judge said Tyler also “gripped her hip in the way an adult male might do if they wanted to show interest in sexual activity with an adult female”.

He told Tyler: “She was eight or nine, and you carried that on behind the backs of her parents for some time.”

He said as Tyler abused the girl in his car on the Westwood, he “discussed sexual matters with a child of eight or nine, all for your own sordid benefit.

“Then when you stopped, rather than taking her home, her now being in tears and upset, you went further and told her about butchering cows.

“The only reason you did that was to scare her beyond belief, to make it clear to her that she could do nothing about what you were doing to her.

“The words may have been implied; the meaning was clear.”

Tyler was given an extended sentence and will have to serve an extra three years on licence when he is released.

He was banned from contacting the victim for life, must sign the sex offenders register for life, and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 20 years.
