Man admits child abuse images offences after setting up fake Facebook profile

A man from Ilfracombe has admitted downloading over 1000 indecent images of children after setting up a Facebook account in a false name.

Ian Peacock, 47, claimed to be aged 15 on the Facebook account, and may have been in e-mail contact with children, Exeter Crown Court was told.

Peacock, of Queens Avenue, Ilfracombe, admitted three charges of making indecent images of children and his sentence was delayed for four months by Judge Geoffrey Mercer.

He adjourned sentence to allow time for the police to carry out further inquiries into the use of the Facebook account and investigate if there has been contact with children.

Peacock admitted downloading 47 images of the worst category A, which shows activity including the rape of children

Richard Crabb, for the defence, said Peacock has already been on police bail for almost a year and is very keen to have the case finalised.

He said Peacock denies having been in email contact with any young people.

Primary school teacher groomed schoolgirl in Portsmouth

kemp

A 14-year-old schoolgirl took an overdose after she was groomed and abused by a primary school deputy head teacher, a court heard.

Trusted John Kemp has been jailed by a judge after the 42-year-old used Kik instant messaging to find, groom and then sexually abuse the young girl in a hotel in Portsmouth.

“Undoubtedly the fact that you were a senior teacher will have played a part in the trust and the confidence that she misguidedly thought she could place in you”

Kemp booked a room in the Holiday Inn in the city and committed a string of sex offences against her – all after winning her trust by telling her he was a teacher.

The girl, 14, struck up the courage to tell her family after being left confused by what Kemp had done and he was later arrested.

But when released on bail he spoke to her again, booked a hotel room and travelled down from Manchester for a second time – but was arrested by waiting police.

Officers found condoms and a Valentine’s Day card in his bag when he was arrested.

Jailing Kemp for seven years, judge Roger Hetherington said: ‘You were deliberately seeking out, for some reason, a young girl. You came into contact with her and over some seven weeks groomed her by a series of texts and telephone calls.

‘Undoubtedly the fact that you were a senior teacher will have played a part in the trust and the confidence that she misguidedly thought she could place in you.’

The judge said the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was left confused about what happened and about her feelings for Kemp, who worked in Manchester.

Matthew Lawson, prosecuting, said Kemp ‘manipulated’ the girl schoolgirl who had an ‘adolescent crush’ on him.

In a victim personal statement read by Mr Lawson the girl’s father told how she took an overdose on paracetamol.

He added: ‘She doesn’t know whom she can trust.’

The judge added: ‘One of the worst features of this case is that that was her first experience of sexual intercourse.’

He said she girl had ‘summoned up courage’ to report what happened.

The judge added the girl looked up to Kemp because of his job.

Kemp, of Barlow Moor Road, Manchester, previously admitted two counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming and eight counts of sexual activity with a child.

He was sentenced to five years for the eight counts and two years for both of the grooming charges. One of those terms, committed while Kemp was on bail, was ordered to run consecutively to the rest of the sentence.

Kemp was banned from contacting any girls under 16 and the victim for life under a sexual harm prevention order. Kemp is also on the sex offenders register for life.

Pervert was hired as the chief executive of a disability charity

A CONVICTED child abuser from Sheffield was hired as the chief executive of a disability charity in the south of England despite trustees being made aware of his criminal past, an investigation has found.

Blind keyboard player Michael Higgins, aged 46, from Portland Court, Langsett, Sheffield, was jailed for two years in 1993 for indecently assaulting a boy.

Fifteen years later, in January 2009, he was employed as chief executive of the Hampshire Coalition of Disabled People, HCoDP.

He kept the post for nearly a year before he quit last November – keeping secret the fact he had been charged with another historic sexual offence against a child.

Two months later, in January this year, he went on trial at the Old Bailey in London, accused of molesting a boy, then seven, who said he had attacked him in London in 1987.

Higgins was cleared in February after being given an alibi by DJ Liz Kershaw, who told the court she could remember sharing a taxi with Higgins around 1990.

But following an anonymous tip-off the charity regulator launched an inquiry, after Hampshire and Southampton councils complained trustees at HCoDP had knowingly employed a convicted sex offender and refused to carry out criminal record checks – because they thought it was an invasion of privacy.

The Charity Commission ordered Higgins’ suspension while it conducted its investigation into his appointment. Two trustees quit, saying they had lost trust in charity officials.

The remaining trustees demanded Higgins’ suspension was lifted during the inquiry and continued to assert he was the right person for the job, claiming the councils’ reaction was “grossly disproportionate”.

Now, in a damning report, the Charity Commission has found HCoDP trustees knew Higgins was a convicted sex offender yet did not think he was “unsuitable” for the post. The Commission concluded HCoDP had been mismanaged and there had been a “serious lack of effective governance”. It ruled trustees had failed to fully discharge their duties and responsibilities as there were no “effective safeguarding policies and procedures”.

However, the Commission said trustees were now properly equipped to fulfil their duties.

It has given the charity until next month to appoint two new trustees to reinforce governance and draw up appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures.

A man who used social media websites such as Facebook, Tinder and Instagram to contact teenage girls and to obtain indecent pictures of them has avoided a prison sentence.

Amazon warehouse worker Steven Alexander greenhorn, 26 of Methilhill in Fife was sentenced in court 3 at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on the 14th June 2016 after he was charged for posing under fake profiles and befriending teenage girls with the intention of obtaining indecent images.

Police in Fife appealed for the assistance of the public in an effort to trace him back in May this year after he skipped bail.

Greenhorn was sentenced to a two year community pay back order and was told he must register on the sex offenders register for a period of two years.

Man jailed after filming underage girl drying herself after shower

dg

A Fife man has been jailed after setting up a camera to record “paranormal activity” in his house – then using it to secretly film an underage girl naked after she got out of the shower.

David Gilchrist set up a camera in his home to try and capture unusual goings-on.

But instead he caught unsuspecting images of a young girl, aged between 13 and 16 at the time, drying herself after showering.

Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard twisted Gilchrist found the film – then went on to film her a further three times over a period of 17 months.

And when police investigating the crime looked at his computers they found hundreds of sick child porn images – some at the highest levels of severity on the scale used to measure abuse pictures.

Gilchrist – who had known his victim since she was five-years-old – was jailed for 14 months after a sheriff told him: “You deliberately filmed this young girl in circumstances which caused her considerable distress.”

He added: “This was a serious breach of trust.”

Gilchrist (37), of Nith Street, Dunfermline, pleaded guilty on indictment to two charges.

The first states that between October 2, 2011 and June 25, 2014 he downloaded indecent images of children.

The second states that between January 22, 2013 and June 25, 2014 he filmed a girl aged between 13 and 16 doing a private act in that he recorded a girl naked while drying herself after showering.

Defence solicitor Gordon Martin said Gilchrist had admitted the offences and spared his victim from having to give evidence in court.

He said: “He had known the victim since she was five-years-old.

“The images had been deleted from the USB drive they were stored on and it was passed on to his wife – he didn’t destroy the device.

Sheriff Jamie Gilchrist QC jailed Gilchrist for 14 months, and imposed a 22-month extended sentence that will see him supervised in the community upon his release.

He was also placed on the sex offender’s register for 10 years.

The sheriff said: “The indecent images charge represents a significant quantity of images of children being abused.

“In relation to the other charge I have to have regard to the fact that it represents a substantial breach of trust in the circumstances in which it was committed.

Picture of Rawlins is recent

A man who was found guilty of inflicting terrible injuries on a baby boy has been jailed.

Unemployed Jeremy Martin Rawlins of Torquay appeared before Exeter Crown court on 13 October, 2000 for the offence of grievous bodily harm of a child which was committed in 1999.

The court heard that the 8-week-old baby boy suffered 13 broken bones including several ribs, spiral fractures in an arm and a leg and a subdural haematoma which is a serious condition where blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain which was caused by a head injury inflicted on him by Rawlins.

The court was told that the mother found the child fitting and immediately rushed him to the hospital where upon arrival the baby stopped breathing. He was resuscitated.

The court was told that 33-year-old Rawlins was also found guilty of breaking a seven-month-old girl’s arm and a charge of burglary of a person close to the case.

When asked why he had attacked the children, Rawlins blamed alcohol for his actions.

Rawlins was sentenced to just 15 months imprisonment.

He showed very little remorse before or during the trial.

60-year-old Robyn Timothy Sherratt of Hoyles Road, Paignton was found guilty of intentionally touching a woman aged 16 or over and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and did not reasonably believe that she was consenting

The court heard that the victim had woken up in her bed and had found plant protection officer Sherratt had gained access to her house and was on top of her attempting to penetrate her.

The court was told that since the ordeal, Sherratt had stalked his victim and was even found hiding behind her house.

Reading sex offender who plied teen with drink and drugs fails to reduce sentence

A Reading sex offender who gave a young teenager drink and drugs as he abused her deserves every day of his prison sentence, top judges today said.

Heroin user Robert Lees Alexander, 49, of Caversham Road, used the vulnerable youngster to satisfy his sick sexual desires.

He admitted sexual activity with a child and was jailed for 12 years at Swindon Crown Court last November.

Today, rejecting an appeal against the sentence, Mr Justice Globe said the term was tough, but not too severe for Alexander’s abuse of the girl.

In a hearing on Tuesday, May 24, he told London’s Court of Appeal “In the end analysis, this was extremely serious offending.”

‘A total sentence of 12 years was a severe sentence, but it wasn’t one that was manifestly excessive.’

The court heard Alexander was high on drink and drugs when he abused the vulnerable teenager.

Judge: “The taking of drugs and alcohol are an unattractive feature of the case”.

He gave her alcohol and heroin and they had sex before she reached her 16th birthday.

Although evidence suggested she consented, the girl later said she had felt ‘ashamed’ and ‘scared’ and was left psychologically damaged.

Lawyers for Alexander, who had no sexual offending in his past, argued today that the sentence he received was over the top.

But Mr Justice Globe, sitting with Lord Justice Hamblen and Judge John Wait QC, said the term was fully justified.

He said: “The taking of drugs and alcohol are an unattractive feature of the case”.

The appeal was refused.

Plymouth rapist Shaun Harrison jailed for 1989 attack

1

A former policeman has said he is “so pleased” a rapist has been jailed for attacking a teenage girl 23 years ago.

Shaun Harrison, 46, of Orchard Road, Plymouth, was jailed for eight years at Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday for raping and indecently assaulting the 16-year-old in the city centre in 1989.

He had denied the charges but was convicted as a result of DNA evidence.

Stuart Butler, who was involved in the investigation, said he hoped the jailing brought the victim closure.

Harrison dragged his victim into an alley and raped her early on a Friday evening in September 1989.

He was found guilty of rape and two counts of indecent assault at a trial in March of this year

Judge Paul Darlow told Harrison he had subjected the girl to a “terrifying and brutal” ordeal in Eastlake Street.

Harrison was also jailed for another four years for raping another woman outside a nightclub in Plymouth in 1995.

Judge Darlow said Harrison had shown “not a shred of remorse”.

He had denied two rapes and two indecent assaults but was found guilty at a trial.

Police said after the case that Harrison was identified by a sample found on the girl’s dress thanks to advances in DNA technology.

Judge Paul Darlow, sitting at Plymouth Crown Court, told Harrison he had raped the girl as she waited for her boyfriend on September 22 1989.

He added: “Brutally and terrifyingly, you took her to a secluded car park behind the shops in what is now Drake Circus and you raped her.”

Judge Darlow said Harrison had shown “not a shred of remorse” for his crimes.

He jailed him for eight years for the first rape and four for the next, with no additional sentence for the indecent assaults.

The Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence on a string of other alleged sexual offences. The judge entered formal ‘not guilty’ verdicts.

The court heard Harrison was convicted of an assault causing grievous bodily harm in 1985, for which he was fined.

Ship captain jailed for sex offences against child

A “world class” cruise ship captain from Donington has been jailed for nine months for sex offences against a 14-year-old girl while she slept in her cabin.

Lincoln Crown Court heard on Thursday how Peter Russell (64), of Bicker Road, performed a sex act on a schoolgirl while she was asleep in her bunk.

The victim thought she had dreamt the incident but it later came to light when Russell chatted to her on the internet on MSN Messenger and made obscene suggestions.

Matthew Lowe, prosecuting, said Russell made comments about the girl’s breasts and urged her to perform a sex act while chatting to him over the internet.

Russell went on to request that the girl take a photograph of herself naked and send it to him.

The incidents came to an end when the girl broke down in front of her dad and showed him the records of her online conversations she had with Russell.

Russell admitted two charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity together with sexual activity in the presence of a child and a further charge of sexual activity with a child.

Judge Sean Morris jailed Russell for nine months and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.

The judge told Russell: “You are a sea captain of great distinction and have a glittering reputation.

“You have brought that crashing down.”

Russell worked throughout the world as a captain of oil tankers for the Esso oil company and, following his retirement, went on to skipper cruise ships.

William Powell, defending, said: “He stands before the court an utterly humiliated person.

“His outstanding career is in complete ruins. He is a man who has disgraced himself to an appalling extent.

“He has spent almost his entire career at sea.

“He retired from Esso at the age of 50 with a reputation as a world class player.

“He was up there with the elite. He was hugely regarded.”

Stepfather jailed for Christmas beatings that killed a little girl

pair

A three-year-old girl’s final Christmas amounted to a “gathering storm” of abuse that involved her being beaten, punched, kicked and burned by her mother’s boyfriend.

The child was also struck with a reinforced cardboard “stick” whenever Gareth Rees, 21, considered that she had been too slow in changing channels on his television.

Manchester Crown Court was told that When Courtney died on Jan 5, on top of the blow which caused the brain damage which killed her, the little girl suffered more than 100 different injuries in two weeks of “sustained cruelty” at the hands of Gareth Rees including a bite to her leg, numerous bruises all over her body, whiplash injuries to her neck and a burn, probably caused by a cigarette

The whiplash injuries were inflicted when Rees swung her round the house by her legs.

The child’s mother, Sandra Bennell, 24, turned a blind eye to the unrelenting campaign of torture and used make-up to disguise her bruises.

The court heard how he began abusing Courtney and another girl, aged five, “within days” but Bennell left the girls in his care so she could go out “boozing and taking drugs”.

Yesterday Rees, of Wythenshawe, Manchester, was beginning a 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter. He had originally been charged with murder.

Bennell was jailed for three years after admitting two charges of child cruelty.

A judge at Manchester Crown Court heard that Courtney’s torment began in the run-up to Christmas, within days of Rees, a former hospital porter, moving into Bennell’s home in Baguley, Manchester.

By Christmas Day she had a massive bruise stretching from her eyes to the top of her forehead. When she complained to Rees’s visiting relatives, he told them she had been in a car crash.

Rees launched his final assault on the girl on Dec 29.

As she lay injured he ordered Bennell not to dial 999. Paramedics were summoned only when a neighbour intervened.

Rees told another child he attacked, who survived her ordeal, that he would break her fingers if she told police what had happened. She told officers Rees had also hit her, strangled her and banged her head.

Even after admitting the crime in court, which entitled him to a reduction in sentence, he insisted to a psychologist that he had not done it.

According to detectives, lying came easy to the young man.

While he had briefly been in the Territorial Army he created an elaborate fantasy life to impress a string of single mums he had met in internet chat rooms.

Among the information found on his mobile phone, which included a picture of an uninjured Courtney smiling up at the camera, was a disturbing video of him acting out a scene from horror film The Blair Witch Project.

During the sentencing hearing, he sat bent double with his head in his lap when details of the little girl’s injuries were detailed.

But he was reprimanded by the judge for laughing when prosecutor Paul Reid QC detailed his fantasy Army career and trying to communicate with family in the public gallery.

Moments later he shouted abuse at Mr Reid before storming out of the dock and back into the cells.

Judge Clement Goldstone rejected Bennell’s claims to have been controlled by Rees, telling her she had failed to exercise any parental responsibility and had, “at the very least”, turned a blind eye.

Courtney’s father, Paul Crockett, 24, said after the verdict: “Ten years is not enough. When I saw her in hospital I could not believe what he had done to her.”

York retail manager Daniel Leeks jailed for sex with girl, 14

leeks

A RETAIL manager from York has been jailed for plying a 14-year-old girl with vodka and then sexually abusing her.

Daniel Derek Leeks, 23, invited the girl and a friend to his home in Acomb Mews, Acomb, said Roderick Hunt, prosecuting.

He gave them vodka and strong drink until the girl was so drunk she could not stand up and was sick. He himself drank lager.

Leeks then walked the friend home claiming he would look after the 14-year-old who could sleep in his bed while he slept on the sofa.

Instead, he subjected the girl to a “full night of sexual activity” and then gave a “graphic account” of it to police.

The victim was so drunk she couldn’t remember anything of it, York Crown Court heard.

The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, jailed him for three years and put him on the sexual offenders’ register for life.

He told Leeks: “You have brought all of this down on yourself by being quite unable to control your sexual urges on that night where in circumstances because of the drink you had provided, she was in no position to make informed decisions for herself.”

The girl had wanted to sleep off her drunkenness. But Leeks had had unprotected sex with her, told her not to tell anyone about it because of her age.

He claimed to police that the girl had been an “enthusiastic participant”.

Leeks pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child.

He was also given a sexual offences prevention order banning him from associating with children under 16 and the girl in particular.

For him, Chris Tehrani said he had a managerial job with a large retail organisation in York that was prepared to stand by him if he didn’t go to jail.

“He doesn’t know why it happened,” he said. “He had been drinking himself and he is thoroughly ashamed of himself.

“He had split up with his then girlfriend two or three months before.

“He was working and felt alone and one thing led to another.”

Afterwards, he had been concerned that the girl might be pregnant.

Convicted paedophile caught with 250,000 images of child sexual abuse

ross

A paedophile who was found with nearly a quarter of a million indecent images of kids on his laptop, some of which showed very young children being tortured and raped was said to be “addicted” to viewing them.

Ross McNaughton was sent to prison for four years after pleading guilty at Winchester Crown Court to six counts relating to making, distributing and possessing the images, some of which showed children as young as one-years-old being abused.

The 47-year-old, of Silvester Close, South View, was arrested by police in August last year, and tried to shut down a file sharing programme on his laptop when officers found him in his room.

A forensic examiner found McNaughton had searched the internet for child abuse of young children and had made and distributed thousands of the images, some of which were the most serious category A.

Prosecutor Sadie Rizzo said: “The age of the children are extremely young and there are images showing distress to these children.”

She told the court that the images were of female children, and that McNaughton viewed them every day between June 2014 and August 2015.

The court heard that McNaughton has a history of similar offences and had spent three months in prison for possessing indecent images in August 1997.

He last appeared in court in July 2006 for making and possessing indecent images of children, and was given a community rehabilitation order for three years.

Judge Michael Vere Hodge said he had taken this into consideration but concluded: “It simply can’t affect the way in which I have to sentence you.”

He described the number of images as “staggeringly high” showing “child sexual abuse of the worst kind”. He added: “To watch images of children in distress, being tortured in some, must put this in the worst possible category.”

Hull PhD student had 247 ‘utterly revolting’ videos of child abuse

A university graduate was caught with hundreds of “utterly revolting” videos of child abuse.

German national Kevin Rother, 29, had images and films on his computer when Humberside Police, acting on intelligence, raided his home on August 6 last year.

He was arrested and his computer was seized. Analysis showed it contained 247 movies and four images at Category A – the most serious – 43 videos at Category B, and 34 videos and two images at Category C.

An example of one of the Category A videos, which showed a girl aged four being abused, was described by prosecutor Dale Brook at Hull Crown Court. The details are too distressing to publish.

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC said: “I have seen, also, the summary in the pre-sentence report of the sort of material. I don’t think the public interest is well served by going into all these utterly revolting details involving young children.”

Rother, who is enrolled at the University of Hull as a PhD student, made “full admissions” in interview and pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children.

Rother, of Clarendon Street, west Hull, had no previous convictions. He was an “intelligent man” who had already started to address his offending by working with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, the court heard.

The judge said the public interest was best served by trying to reform him by sending him on the Northumbria sex offenders programme, which is run by the probation service.

But he told Rother: “It almost defies any form of understanding that, first, anybody would wish to indulge in that form of sexual perversion on a young child, and it almost defies understanding why someone like you would wish to view it. But it happens.

“It is a crime, it is a serious crime, and you must be punished. The public interest in this case is best served by placing you upon the Northumbria programme.

“But I wish to make it absolutely clear that had I not decided, in all the circumstances of this case, to send you on the Northumbria programme, I would unquestionably have imprisoned you.”

Rother was sentenced to a three-year community order, which includes 30 days of rehabilitation. He must sign the sex offenders’ register for five years, and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits him deleting the history of his internet use for three years.

Pensioner walks free after downloading more than 1,000 child abuse photos

A PENSIONER who downloaded more than 1,000 images of child abuse images has walked free from court after a judge said it was “not in the public interest” to jail him.

But lung cancer patient Geoffrey Bowyer defended his actions and told police it was “morally wrong” but not illegal.

He claimed none of the children photographed in the warped images were being forced to take part in the sick abuse.

Despite his act he walked free from court after a Judge felt it was not in the public interest to cage him.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photos of a child at a previous case.

Prosecuting, Lisa Goddard told Reading Crown Court: “As part of that investigation police were able to track one of those IP addresses to this defendant’s home address.

“They attended on April 15 last year and seized a number of pictures on computer equipment from the defendant’s bedroom.

“Mr Bowyer was at home when the police carried out their search. When he was arrested he made the comment ‘I have viewed but not distributed any images’.”

The files were created between 2008 and 2011, Ms Goddard added after it was revealed Bowyer was using a peer to peer network to share the images.

She added: “He thought it wasn’t illegal, but morally wrong.

“He admitted using the USB for storage and using software to remove his internet history. He had seen images of children as young as two, three and four.”

But Judge Stephen John told Bowyer’s barrister he would not be sending the sick pensioner to prison.

He said: “It’s very sad to see a man of your age in the crown court for the first, and I very much hope, only time.

“You had a significant collection of material; a quantity in excess of 100 being considered as large by the courts.

“You must understand that each image of this kind represents an occasion upon which a child has been abused. Abuse doesn’t only exist when children are physically harmed; it also happens when they are required to be photographed or filmed so their photos can be viewed by people such as you.

“The number of children abused has escalated. It is an offence which has become much too common.

“That you did not believe what you did was an offence is not credible.

“You have accepted responsibility, although you have minimised your culpability; worryingly, in my judgment, stating none of the victims were crying or pushing the abuser away, and none were being forced or under duress.”

He was given a 24 month community order instead of a prison sentence because he does not pose a risk to children, according to Judge John.

The pervert from Ascot, Berks, will be subject to notification requirements for sex offenders for the next five years.

Pimp ex-RAF man slept with underage teen girl then tried to kill himself after arrest

A FORMER Royal Air Force man who tried to encourage two 16-year-old girls into prostitution has been spared jail.

Sesum Malik, 44, paid one of the girls twice for sex and lied to the other that he ran a brothel, the court heard.

The “half blind, overweight and balding” man also told the girls they would be paid if they sent him photos to upload to an “adult working” website.

One of the videos sent by the young girls was of her inserting a sex toy into herself, the court was told.

When first arrested in connection to the offences 18 months ago he had tried to kill himself by jumping out of a bedroom window.

During the trial Malik broke down in tears and swore to the court: “You’ll never see me again”.

Malik claimed he thought both girls, who he had met through the rave scene, were over 18 when they were actually only 16.

One of the girls was 15 when he first met her.

The judge told Malik, of Southall in West London, that he was naive to think both the girls were 18.

Reading Crown Court was told that no penetrative sex took place with one of the girls, but he did kiss and touch her breasts and bottom during a car trip to Harrow.

Malik had sex with the second girl and pimped her out to another two men for which she was paid £100, the court was told.

Judge Alexia Durran told Malik: “You befriended them and acted in order to win their confidence.

“You offered to drive them around at the end of raves; that’s suggested as using grooming like behaviour.

“What you were doing was befriending them in order to see how far you could go.

“By your own admission, you described yourself as half blind, overweight and balding, and feeling inadequate and unattractive.

“It was having contact with them that was able to give you a feeling like being James Bond.”

John Lyons, defending, said: “This is a man who feels enormous shame and substantial remorse.”

He admitted four offences of causing or inciting a child into prostitution and child pornography.

Malik was given 24 month prison sentence suspended for two years and was released from the crown court dock.

He was also ordered to attend a community sex offender group work programme for 100 days and made the subject of a 24 month supervision order.

Pervert’s double life exposed as indecent images of kids are found on computer

A twisted pervert’s double life was exposed when police raided his Motherwell home in front of his wife and discovered dozens of indecent images of children on his computer.

Paul Galbraith appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to possessing the sick images between June 9 and September 23 last year.

Cops found a total of 43 indecent pictures in the hard drive of his computer.

The court heard that on September 23, police obtained a warrant to search the home 50-year-old Galbraith shared with his wife.

Officers arrived at the home at around 7.30am to find Galbraith at home with his partner.

Galbraith immediately told police that he knew why they were there.

He then said that anything that was on any of the computers were his and his alone. Galbraith said anything he had downloaded was in the computer in the lounge area of the house before telling police he was the only person who used the computer and that there would be indecent images on it.

Police spoke to Galbraith’s wife who confirmed that she never used the computer.

When she left the police carried out an extensive search of the computer and Galbraith was detained and interviewed.

During the course of that interview he made admissions that he had searched the internet for indecent images and viewed them.

Fiscal depute Jason Bell added that out of the 43 images found on the computer, 34 of them were certified as Category A – these are classed as sexual penetration involving children and animals.

A further seven were found to be Category B and two from Category C.

Police officers also found several search items within a computer search engine such as “pre-teen”.

Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen deferred sentence on Galbraith, of Cypress Road, until July 14 and called for criminal justice and social work reports to be prepared.

Galbraith’s bail was continued with special conditions.
