Caldicot man jailed for taking indecent photos of schoolgirl

A CALDICOT man who boasted in an internet chat room that he had been spying on a young girl and taking indecent images of her has been jailed for 16 months.

Kevin Williams, 44, formerly of Cirencester, Gloucestershire, but now of Blackbird Road, Caldicot, had spied on a girl, removing her clothing so he could take photographs of her breasts, Gloucester Crown Court was told today.

When police arrested him after they had been alerted to his chat room comments they found indecent images of children on his computer, said prosecutor Janine Wood.

He was bailed by police and then went missing – later being found in London where he was threatening to kill himself.

Williams admitted two offences of sexual assault on the teenage girl by touching her.

He also admitted eight further offences of taking and making indecent images of children.

Judge Michael Cullum sentenced him to 16 months in jail for the assault offences and four months concurrently for making and taking indecent images.

The judge said the case was too serious for anything other than an immediate custodial term. He made a 10-year sexual harm prevention order against Williams and told him he would have to sign the sex offender register for 10 years.

The judge also ordered the confiscation and destruction of Williams’ computer equipment.

Mrs Wood told the court that police in Norfolk informed Gloucestershire police on January 7 this year that Williams, using the name Ciren, had stated in a chat room that he had watched a girl of 11.

Police went straight to his Cirencester home, arrested him and seized his computer equipment.

On January 12 he went missing and was found in London making suicide threats. Mrs Wood said 733,000 images were found on Williams’ computer and police checked a sample of 17,000.

Of those, some were the most serious type of child abuse at category A, and others at Category B and Category C.

When interviewed by police about the offences Williams made no comment.

The victim of his assault offences had suffered ‘psychological trauma,’ she said.

Clare Fear, defending, said he was remorseful and had shown insight into the effect of his crimes.

She submitted that he was suitable for counselling and a sex offender programme coupled with a suspended sentence.

But Judge Cullum said there had to be an immediate prison sentence for such serious offences against the girl.

Convicted paedophile, 73, goes on trial for historic sexual abuse of two girls

A PENSIONER previously convicted of a string of child sex crimes – including rape – has gone on trial accused of abusing two girls.

Arthur Bierton, who is now aged 73, admits indecently assaulting the youngsters in North Yorkshire in the 1980s and 1990s.

But he is facing a trial at Teesside Crown Court this week because he denies some of the accusations and disputes repeatedly raping one of them.

The court heard yesterday (Monday, April 25) how his alleged victims initially kept their ordeals a secret, but even after telling people they did not go to the police.

Prosecutor Paul Newcombe told a jury that the accusers – now women – felt ashamed and scared, and were worried that they would be badly judged.

He said Bierton would give the girls sweets or money to buy treats “as bribes to keep quiet” and got one a CD by 80s boy band New Kids on the Block.

Bierton, of Stockton Road, Thirsk, has pleaded not guilty to eight charges of indecent assault, three of indecency with a child and three rapes.

Mr Newcombe told the jury that the counts were “specimen” charges to reflect a course of conduct over a period of time.

The jury heard that one of the women – when she finally went to the police – told detectives: “It happened so many times it was like Groundhog Day.”

Mr Newcombe said: “She told the police ‘I was ashamed, I suppose, and I was scared of people thinking I wanted it’. You may think that’s natural.”

After his arrest, Bierton made a “no comment” interview, but has since gone on to admit an indecent assault on each girl in his defence statement.

The jury was told that in 1975, he was convicted of an indecent assault on a female, and four years later of child rape and multiple indecent assaults on teenagers.

Mr Newcombe said: “The prosecution say that is important evidence for you to consider. The defendant has previous convictions for sexual offences with children.

“In this case, in the case of both girls, he has admitted he sexually abused them. He has admitted touching their vaginas on numerous occasions, but the prosecution’s case is that he went much further.”

Two men sentenced after being caught by Greenwich ‘paedophile hunters’ Unknown TV

A 23-year-old man has been sentenced after being caught by a group of self-styled Greenwich ‘paedophile hunters’.

Aaron Jackson, of Radford Road, Hither Green, pleaded guilty at Woolwich Crown Court to attempting to meet a female child under 16 when the offender is 18 or over.

Unknown TV set up a fictional social media profile of a 15-year-old girl called Rebecca Swallow and sent friend requests to local men to identify online predators.

On October 3 last year, Jackson befriended the ‘Rebecca Swallow’ profile and began messaging ‘her’ privately.

In the messages he discussed having sex with Rebecca, who stated that she was 15 and arranged to meet the child.

Police were notified and arrested him when he attended the meeting location.

Jackson was sentenced earlier this month to 16 months in prison suspended for 24 months.

He was also sentenced to rehabilitation for a maximum of 60 days, a sexual harm prevention order for seven years and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years. He must pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Another man who was trapped by Unknown TV was also sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court earlier this year.

David Boyce, 58, of Oakdene Avenue, Chislehurst, (pictured below) was sentenced to 12 months in prison suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, a 8pm to 6am curfew electronically tagged and must pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Another suspect identified by Unknown TV will stand trial in July.

Unknown TV has since closed down its investigations.

When he spoke to News Shopper in October 2015, Unknown TV member Charlie Gaines, of Shooters Hill Road, told News Shopper: “I am not against the police but they could do more.

“Instead of beating these people up, we thought why don’t we help the police get them arrested?

“We don’t get violent. We don’t threaten them.

“The police are saying we are taking the law into our own hands but we pass our information to them.

“I have got to try and get these sex offenders off the streets.”

A convicted sex offender raped a girl after telling her she ‘needed to have sex with him to make her grow’, a court heard.

Mohammed Dauhoo, 71, allegedly watched porn with the young girl at his home before trying to perform some of the actions in the videos with her.

After asking him to help fix her bike the girl would be showered in gifts by Dauhoo including a laptop and jewellery, it is said.

Dauhoo repeatedly told the young girl he loved her in an effort to keep her coming back to his home, Southwark Crown Court heard.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place at Dauhoo’s north London home on various occasions between July 31 2009 and March 31 2013.

Five years for serial sex offender

A pervert banned from London’s buses for groping a teenage boy was jailed for five years after he was caught using his freedom pass on public transport.

Rodney Fenlon, 45, was locked up for 21 months in 2010 after he spotted by a plain clothed police officer abusing the lad on the 143 from Finchley to Brent Cross in 2010.

Fenlon was then jailed for 54 months later that year for attempting to rape his cellmate.

Under the terms of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order issued by Snarebrook Crown Court, Fenlon was banned from using London buses.

He was also barred from having unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

Rodney Fenlon, of Barnet, jailed for sexual assault on bus

A MAN from Barnet has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after sexually assaulting a young man on a bus.

Rodney Fenlon, who was also given an amended Sexual Prevention Order, rubbed the 18-year-old victim’s hip, legs and arms, while touching his own groin on the Route 143 bus.

The victim stated he was very distressed and shaken and that there were definitely sexual intentions.

The incident was witnessed by a Transport for London Police officer and Fenlon, 39, from Sunny Gardens Road, was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 4.

He is also on bail for harassment in another case involving repeated visits and calls to a journalist, who was helping Fenlon to write letters for his solicitor.

As a result Fenlon caused distress to the victim and his wife, and is on a suspended sentence for two years for five similar offences.

Fenlon is a registered sex offender and the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

He was jailed for 12 months for breeching the suspended sentence, six months for sexual assault and three months for the harassment charges, to run consecutively.

Fenlon was jailed for 21 months in total with 47 days on remand to be taken into account.

The existing sexual offences prevention order has been replaced with a varied order.

Man jailed for five years for sexual offences against children

A man has been jailed for five years after being found guilty of sexual offences against children, including an incident in Oxford.

Michael Strang, 52, of Stockton on Tees, was found guilty by jury at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday of one count of inciting a girl under 14 years of age to commit an act of gross indecency and one count of causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The latter offence took place in Oxford between August 2005 and August 2007, with the other in Milton Keynes.

Strang was arrested on November 20 2014 and was charged on September 28 2015.

He was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for the Milton Keynes offence and three years’ imprisonment for the Oxford offence, which will run consecutively.

He was also subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and restraining orders.

Strang made the victims go through the process of giving evidence in a trial and claimed they had colluded with each other to make up the offences.

A jury found this was certainly not the case – as they did not know each other – and returned guilty verdicts on both counts in just 23 minutes.

Paedophile Devon scout leader jailed for abusing boy, 8, in shower

A disgraced scoutmaster has been jailed for ignoring an order to stay away from children and abusing an eight-year-old.

Michael Blyth offered sweets and toys to other children and took a job at a seaside caravan park despite being a convicted paedophile who was banned from contacting children.

Police became suspicious that he was grooming children near his home in South Devon but he carried on doing it after a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) was made.

He hid his past when he befriended the mother of the eight-year-old and she had no idea he had already served an eight year sentence for abusing boys when he was a scoutmaster in Yorkshire.

He offered to take the boy to the swimming pool and spa at the four-star Palace Hotel in Paignton but abused him after joining him naked in a shower.

Blyth was branded as a danger to children as he was jailed for seven and a half years by Judge Erik Salomonsen at Exeter Crown Court.

The judge also extended Blyth’s licence period and made a new Sexual Harm Prevention Order which will allow police to monitor him after his release.

Blyth, 60, of Cotehele Drive, Paignton, admitted four breaches of a SOPO and four counts of making indecent photographs of children.

He was jailed for a total of seven and a half years with a two and a half year extended licence.

The judge told him: “You are a sex offender with an interest in young children. You began to groom the family, the mother and therefore the child who was to become your victim.

“As the probation report points out, all these offences show a pattern of grooming and a clear escalation. There was a blatant disregard of the order which was in place to protect children.

“You are assessed as posing a high risk of further sexual offending against children and are a dangerous offender. You broke the terms of the order, were looking at indecent photographs, and went on to commit the sexual assault.”

The Judge praised the efforts of Detective Constable Melanie Dunne from the Torbay public protection team, who identified Blyth as a danger, and whose monitoring of him revealed his offending.

Peter Coombe, for the prosecution, said Blyth was jailed for eight years at Leeds Crown Court in 1998 for abusing seven boys and two girls while acting as a scout leader.

He moved to Devon after his release and DC Dunne became concerned about him in 2012 when he joined a table tennis club where a number of boys played.

The police obtained a SOPO in March 2013 but he broke the order by befriending children, offering them sweets and toys, taking them bowling, and getting a job at a holiday park in Torquay.

Inquiries showed he had taken the eight-year-old swimming at the Palace Hotel’s spa pool and the boy later revealed to police how he had been abused in the shower.

Officers also found 146 indecent images of boys on his computer including three which showed very serious acts of child abuse.

Mr Coombe said: “There was a pattern of behaviour of the defendant using various means to have contact with children, so he had obviously learned nothing from the imposition of the SOPO.”

A Nottinghamshire man who sexually abused three girls has been jailed for nine years.

Graham Dallison, 64, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on April 18 2016.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of gross indecency with a girl under 14-years-old and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14-years-old.

Vale pervert sexually abused teenager while she slept

A pervert sexually abused a teenager while she slept – admitting the victim wouldn’t have known he was doing it.

Brian Miller, of Milton Estate, Jamestown, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old pleaded guilty to three of four charges of historical sex abuse against him dating from between 1994 and 2001.

He had been due to go on trial this week, but admitted the three charges.

Procurator fiscal depute Sarah Healing told the court Miller had handed himself in to police in June last year, after seeing one of his victims at a local swimming pool.

He was interviewed on June 7 by police, who then conducted further inquiries, before arresting Miller on June 26 last year.

Ms Healing noted there was no evidence Miller had done anything untoward in regards to any member of his family.

Miller’s first victim was 14 at the time, when he pushed her on to a bed and kissed her.

The victim had told Miller of pushing a boy against a wall at school and kissing him.

Miller sat down beside her, pushed her back on the bed so she was lying down, and as he did he was kissing her on the lips, tickling her feet and playing with her hair.

The victim was “shocked” and shouted at Miller, before getting up and running from the house.

The incident happened on a date between January 30, 1994 and December 29, 1994.

The court was told the victim is now 36 years old.

The other charges related to a second victim – once every two or three weeks – for a period of around 18 months.

The victim, now aged 31, who was between 12 and 15 years old when the incidents took place.

Miller told police he would touch the girl while she slept “on every occasion” she stayed over – and that she probably had no idea he had done it.

He also admitted an amended charge which is said to have happened on April 20, 2001.

His victim woke up and Miller was “dry humping” her.

On awakening a second time, she found him between her legs.

Ms Healing told the court Miller had told police he “hoped at the time the complainer would want what he was doing, but accepts that she had never given any indications to him and she was asleep when he got in beside her.”

The girl “froze” and “was in shock” when she realised Miller was in the pull-out bed with her.

The incident was not reported until Miller saw the victim in a swimming pool and heard her say to her children he was a “bad man”.

Last year he decided to turn himself in to police.

Sheriff Simon Pender placed Miller on the sex offenders register, and deferred sentence for reports until June 1.

His bail was continued.

Woman’s shock as she sees Worcester pervert who assaulted her she was eight

A “high risk” 69-year-old Worcester man with a history of sex offences against children daring back half a century has been sent to jail for indecently assaulting a young girl.

Peter Cooper, of Hawkwood Crescent, carried out the offences against the girl, who was aged eight at the time, in 1996, Worcester Crown Court was told.

One day he lifted her up above his shoulders and sexually assaulted her. Later the same day he saw her sitting on the toilet and gestured to her to lift up her skirt but she refused and he did not carry out any further offences.

He was convicted in 1998 of offences dating back to 1990 against two other girls, then aged eight and five.

Many years later, the girl from the 1996 offence, then in her twenties, saw Cooper again and the shock brought the memory back to her. She made a complaint to police in April, 2014. He was arrested and pleaded guilty on the day of a trial.

The court heard Cooper has 17 convictions for 34 offences.

He had been convicted of indecently assaulting a young boy and girl in 1966 and having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1979.

Recorder Denis Desmond gave Cooper a sexual harm prevention order banning him from any contact by any means with under 16s except with the consent of their parents or in the course of everyday life until further notice.

“It is clear that you show no remorse and you are a high risk,” he told Cooper.

He was jailed for a total of 15 months and will have to register as a sex offender for life.

Pervert found with ‘library’ of 12,000 indecent images of children

A 50-year-old Northamptonshire man has been jailed after more than 13,000 indecent images of children, including babies and infants, were found on his computer.

Ian Nash, of Gordon Road, Wellingborough, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of making and three counts of distributing indecent photographs online.

Caroline Bray, prosecuting, said police officers carried out a search warrant at his address on May 21, 2013 and found a library of indecent images on his computer.

After the computer was analysed, officers uncovered 710 category A indecent images of children and 203 videos. There were also 1,126 category B images and more than 12,700 category C images.

Ms Bray said many of the files involved babies and toddlers as well as one image where a child appeared to have been drugged.

The files had been placed on an software program that automatically shares the images with other users.

His Honour Judge Fowler sentenced Nash to 27 months in prison. He is likely to serve half in jail before being released on licence.

He will be on the sex offenders register for at least 10 years.

Paedophile sentenced to seven years in jail

A 77-year-old man who abused a young girl in Northamptonshire has been sentenced to seven years in jail.

David Paterson was convicted of indecently assaulting a young girl after a trial at Northampton Crown Court.

Paterson, who now lives in Lochgoilhead, Scotland, is likely to serve half his sentence in jail before being released on licence.

Voyeurist jailed for 12 months for lying about military service record

A peeping tom who created a fictitious military career in an attempt to win a lighter sentence has been jailed for 12 months for perverting the course of justice.

Dean Culverhouse, 32, secretly filmed women and children showering and using the toilet in Frome and Trowbridge between 2009 and 2014.

Culverhouse, of Kenwood Close, Trowbridge, pleaded guilty to eight charges of voyeurism when he appeared before Somerset Magistrates at Yeovil last year.

This week Taunton Crown Court was told that Culverhouse told probation officers preparing a pre-sentence report that he had post-traumatic stress disorder.

He told them that he had served eight years in the Armed Forces in Northern Ireland and Iraq, had two close friends killed in action and suffered post-traumatic stress disorder.

However, none of that was true.

Culverhouse was given a 36-month community order after a judge said it was clear he suffered from serious emotional problems as a result of his military service.

This week his defence barrister, Paul Cook, told Taunton Crown Court that Culverhouse had believed that what he imagined had really happened.

He required a lot of medical intervention and was prescribed six different types of drugs and was in ‘a wretched state’.

Speaking from the dock, Culverhouse said: “I am sorry for what I have done.”

Jailing Culverhouse for a year, Judge David Ticehurst said he would have handed down a longer sentence but for the medication the defendant needed.

It was “abundantly clear” he deliberately lied to his legal advisers and probation officers.

“Those lies were calculated and intended to pervert the course of justice. It’s clear those who pervert the course of justice should receive a sentence that reflects the seriousness of that offence”, Judge Ticehurst added.

Man jailed for online grooming and indecent images

A man from Heysham has been jailed for grooming children online and possessing indecent images.

Philip Montford, 54, of Stanley Road, Heysham was sentenced to nine years imprisonment on Thursday 22 April after he was found guilty of possessing and distributing indecent images of children. He was also found guilty of three counts of inciting a child to perform a sexual act.

Montford was arrested in February 2014 after officers received an initial referral from the Children’s Exploitation Online Protection Centre (CEOP).

Following a search of his computer equipment, around 500 child abuse images and videos were recovered.

During the investigation, officers received information that Montford had also been contacting children over social media, leading to a further analysis of his internet devices.

It emerged that he had contacted over 100 children online and extensive enquiries revealed two further victims that Montford had been grooming.

DI Bev Foster from the Lancaster Public Protection Unit said: “Montford’s sentence reflects the grave, disturbing nature of the images he had in his possession.

“This result is the culmination of a complex, two year investigation and is the result of the sheer hard work and tenacity of the investigating officers.

“We are committed to protecting and safeguarding children within our communities and the experienced detectives at the Public Protection Unit in Lancaster have worked tirelessly to ensure that Montford is brought to account for his actions.”

Montford was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and will be subject to a comprehensive Risk of Sexual Harm Order.

Former Stockport scout master jailed for sex offences against boys in the mid-1990s

A former scoutmaster has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to a catalogue of historic sexual offences against young boys.

Perverted Peter Loco, 50, was in charge of First Bredbury and Woodley Scout Group in Stockport during the mid-1990s when the crimes took place.

He was convicted of 11 counts of indecent assault on a male, one count of making indecent images of a child and 13 counts of making indecent photographs of a child/children at Minshull Street Crown Court .

An allegation was made against Loco by a teenage scout in 1996 but police were unable to prosecute because of a lack of evidence.

But nearly 20 years later Loco uploaded an indecent image to social media triggering a reopening of the case and a police raid on his home.

Officers who searched the address on Lyne Edge Road, Dukinfield, found indecent images of children on a laptop computer and a sickening stash of VHS video tapes of children being sexually abused.

The victim behind the mid-90s complaint against Loco has now spoken to the Express about his long wait for justice.

The man, who is now in his 30s and wants to remain anonymous, said: “It affected me a lot.

“As a kid I used to think ‘why did I let him do it’ – I always had that question.

“I had to have counselling. I used to get angry at things, it made me an angry person.

“I used to get into trouble and it never happened before that. I don’t know if it was because of what happened to me but it might have been a factor.”

And the man said he was disturbed to find out Loco was still involved with the scouts a decade after he abused him.

He said: “I went up to the scout hut ten years later with a few mates to see if he was still there.

“When I saw him walk out my heart sank, I thought ‘after all that happened to me, and he is still working with kids’.

“It wasn’t good because I knew what he had done and wondered if there were any other kids who had been through what I had.”

And he adds that he now hopes he can move forward with his life with Loco put behind bars.

He said: “I have got a bit of closure because he has got time and people know what he has done and what he is capable of – I can crack on now.

“It’s given me peace of mind that he can’t hurt any more kids.”

Perthshire boarding school teacher guilty of child sex abuse

A former teacher at a top Scots boarding school is facing jail after sexually abusing five boys.

William Bain preyed on pupils at another private school where the 62-year-old worked at the time.

He was caught when one victim contacted police after discovering Bain was still teaching in Perthshire.

It sparked a large-scale probe into the abuse claims resulting in shamed Bain ending up at the High Court in Glasgow.

Bain was “immediately suspended” by Glenalmond College when the historical accusations arose last year and subsequently retired.

He pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to five charges of using lewd and libidinous practices while employed as a teacher at the Dunbartonshire school between 1989 and 1995.

A judge heard how one boy was attacked after going to Bain for help because he was being bullied.

The attacks were said to have occurred either in an empty classroom, a photography dark-room or at Bain’s private flat at the school.

Bain later went on to secure a post at £22,000-a-year Glenalmond College in Perth and Kinross.

Bain – who lives with his mum in Crieff, Perthshire – had his bail continued pending sentencing next month.

He was a teacher at the time at a fee-paying school in Dunbartonshire.

The victims were all pupils there.

‘Depravity’ of child sex abuse images

A TWENTY nine year old man has pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse images videos of the “most serious” classification at his address in Mid Yell last year.

Sam Hesketh, of Burra Park Road, Mid Yell, admitted an offence of permitting indecent images of children to be taken between 3 May and 5 June 2015.

Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie told Lerwick Sheriff Court on Tuesday that a national policing agency had become aware of suspicious online activity that had caused concern.

Specialist officers attended the Mid Yell property armed with a search warrant and discovered abuse videos on Hesketh’s laptop involving children, some as young as two years old.

A total of 14 videos containing abuse of young boys and girls were discovered, several of which were designated as category A, and Mackenzie said it “doesn’t need any comment from me as to the depravity of the images”.

Defence agent Tommy Allan said his client, who first appeared in private on 25 June last year, had cooperated fully with the police since the investigation began.

Sheriff Philip Mann called for a criminal justice social inquiry report prior to sentencing on 20 May, making clear to Hesketh that the “most likely outcome” would be a prison term.

“This is an extremely serious charge involving extremely serious criminal behaviour in relation to young children,” he said, “and I have to say a custodial sentence will be uppermost in my mind.”
