Man guilty of sex offences
A man has been branded a sexual predator and has been remanded in custody
Merfyn jones, 53, of Rowden street, Shotton as warned he faced a long prison sentence after he was convicted of sex offences
Jones had denied 13 offences of rape, attempted rape and indecent assault against four victims
The offences dated back to the 1990’s but he was unanimously convicted by a jury at Mold Crown Court
He held his head in hands and cried when the jury foreman returned the guilty verdicts
Judge Rhys Rowlands revoked his bail and remanded him in custody pending sentence in January
On the verdicts of the jury, he is to be sentenced as a sexual predator who had got away with it for many years, he told the court
The judge said that Jones should prepare himself for a lengthy sentence
There was cries from the public gallery when the verdicts were announced and there was angry scenes outside the court afterwards
