Leeds man sexually assaulted girl,13, while out on bail for GBH
A man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl while he was on bail for a violent attack on a teenage boy has been jailed for eight years.
Leeds Crown Court heard James Dowson and accomplice Charles Letizia attacked the 16-year-old boy in Chapeltown on July 28.
Dowson, 25, of Carberry Road, Burley, kicked the boy in the chest and punched him in the face while the youngster was on the ground.
The youth suffered a broken jaw during the attack.
The court heard Dowson was arrested the following day, charged with grievous bodily harm and released on bail.
Prosecutor, Timothy Capstick said on August 17 and 18, Dowson twice sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl on a bus and on a third occasion at his home address.
Mr Capstick said: “She continually pushed him away and told him to stop. She was clearly in pain.”
Mr Capstick said Dowson was arrested on August 21, adding: “He said he had limited recollection because he had drunk some 20 cans of Stella Artois lager.”
Dowson admitted causing grievous bodily harm to the 16-year-old boy and sexual assault and sexual assault by penetration in connection with the 13-year-old girl.
Mitigating, Adrian Dent said: “He has spent a good deal of his time abusing drugs and alcohol.
He does seem to be recognising he does need some help.
He apologises for what he has done.”
Jailing Dowson for two years for the attack on the boy and six years for the sex offences, Judge James Spencer told him: “You took advantage of her.
She was hurt and frightened.”
Letizia, 23, of Conway Mount, Harehills, was jailed for two years after admitting grievous bodily harm in connection with the attack on the 16-year-old boy.
