Cumbrian child sex pervert jailed
A pervert convicted of child sex crimes dating back more than a decade has been jailed for five years.
Michael Tremble, 46, will also have legal restrictions placed upon him for 20 years after being sentenced for a string of offences.
Carlisle Crown Court heard how one of his two victims suffered nightmares after he assaulted her.
His denials that he committed the offences provided “no comfort whatsoever” to his victims, said the sentencing judge.
Tremble’s latest address was given as William Street, Great Clifton, Workington and has previously lived at Thomson Street, off London Road, Carlisle.
Tremble appeared before court to be sentenced after last month he was found guilty of four offences but cleared of a fifth by a jury following a trial. He denied all the charges.
He was found guilty of one count of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child and one of sexual assault. But he was cleared of one charge of indecent assault involving a child.
The first crime, involving a girl, nine, was on the eve of the Millennium – December 31, 1999.
Two other child sex crimes took place in the early 2000s and related to a different girl.
He was also convicted of assaulting the same girl when she was 16.
Brendan Burke, prosecuting, read a statement outlining the impact on the second victim.
Mr Burke said she described Tremble as “sick, horrible, selfish and twisted”.
“She speaks of suffering nightmares, reliving each moment repeatedly,” he told the court.
“Even in sleep there is no escape.”
Laura Nash, in mitigation, said Tremble suffered problems with his mental health.
“He is absolutely terrified of his impending custodial sentence,” she said.
Judge Barbara Forrester handed out the five year sentence saying Tremble must also be subject to a sexual offences prevention order, which can place conditions on how he lives, for 20 years.
