Man jailed for 8 years for abusing boy in York in the 1970s

albert

A PENSIONER has been jailed for eight years after he was found guilty of sexually abusing a boy in the 1970s.

Albert Dorsey, now 76, of Hagg Lane, South Duffield, near Selby repeatedly abused the youngster at a property in York between February 1972 and January 1977.

The offences did not come to light until a few years ago when the victim, now middle-aged, finally reported them to police.

Dorsey was questioned and charged with eight counts of indecent assault.

He denied all eight charges but a jury at York Crown Court in October found him guilty on all counts.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and police found him on Tuesday afternoon.

He was hauled straight to court to be sentenced by trial judge Rodney Jameson QC, who jailed him for eight years and placed him on the sex offenders’ register.

38-year-old Minehead man jailed for sexual abuse of two girls

andre

A man who sexually abused two young girls was jailed for eight years by a furious judge today (December 21).

38-year-old Andre Egington, currently a serving prisoner, but originally from Penfield Road in Minehead, had sex with a 15-year-old and then months later went on to abuse a 12-year-old girl.

As he assaulted the younger girl he told his crying victim: “Don’t tell. I could get in trouble. What goes on in this house, stays in this house.”

Prosecuting, Mark Worsley said Egington had tried to cover his tracks by telling the girl’s father he had ‘accidentally’ touched her, but broke down in tears and confessed what he had done when the girl told her school what had happened.

“When he was confronted by the girl’s father, he told him ‘I didn’t mean it’,” Mr Worsley said, adding that Egington had admitted his crimes when interviewed by police.

The judge sentenced him to four years for sexual activity with a child and one year for sexual assault on a child under the age of 13, to run concurrently.

He also sentenced him to four consecutive years for a penetrative assault on a child under the age of 13, and a further 12 months on license.

Egington was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and told to pay a surcharge of £140.

Sex offender caught TWICE by ‘Guardians of the North’ avoids prison

haw

A man who believed he was grooming young girls for sex has avoided a prison sentence

Scott Marsh Jones/Hawthorn of Birmingham was caught on two separate occasions by an online child protection team called the Guardians of the North after he engaged in conversation with two separate decoy accounts which represented two girls aged 13 and 11

The court was told that the pervert contacted the groups second decoy after he had already been charged with attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming and was on bail.

As the conversations progressed, they continued to have sexual overtones, essentially containing clear sexual requests and topics, raised on each occasion by the defendant asking about having sex, making requests as to what would happen if the two met up.

He was given an 18 month suspended sentence and told he must adhere to a 10 year sexual harm prevention order. He was also told he must register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years.

The judge placed a supervision order which does not allow him to be with anyone under the age of 16.

He was also banned from possessing any device which could take photos or allow internet access.

A spokesman for the Guardians of the North described his comments as the most graphic they had encountered, and were shocked that he had contacted not one but two of their decoys, whilst being on bail. They said they were appalled with the sentence handed down as it did not act as a deterrent in any way.

A former army chef who brought two condoms when he went to meet someone he believed to be an 11-year-old girl for sex has been convicted of child grooming.

Connor Lane, 24, of High Easter on the outskirts of Chelmsford, was apprehended by the online child protection team the ‘Internet Interceptors’ at McDonald’s in Brentwood High Street, after a member of the organisation posed as the schoolgirl, Jess H, and arranged to meet up with Lane.

Lane’s two-day trial began at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday (December 15) after he denied attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, where the court heard Lane had engaged in sexual messages with the Jess H profile on website Tagged.

He was found guilty by the jury yesterday afternoon and is set to be sentenced at the same court on January 27.

Sheffield pervert jailed for sexual attacks on two teenage girls

ryan

A Sheffield man is today behind bars for sexually assaulting two teenage girls.

Ryan Walsh, aged 29, formerly of Bowden Wood Road, Sheffield, was sentenced to four years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court.

He was found guilty of seven counts of sexual assault following a trial in August this year.

The charges relate to two female victims who cannot be named for legal reasons, who were under 16 at the time of the offences.

The jury heard how Walsh befriended his victims and forced them to commit sexual acts.

Walsh is already serving a custodial sentence for sexual offences, which he pleaded guilty to in November 2015.

That same month, concerned parents came forward to police to report that they believed Walsh had abused their child and a new investigation began.

Paedophile raped girl in Derbyshire – when she was just SIX

A “disturbed” paedophile raped a girl when she was just six years old.

As well as raping her, John Madin also sexually assaulted the girl on 10 occasions, Derby Crown Court heard.

Clive Stockwell, prosecuting, said the now 63-year-old first rubbed the victim’s chest and then progressed to sexually abusing her over her clothes and then under her clothes before raping her in the mid-1980s in Derbyshire.

He said the victim kept the rape and abuse secret until she told her family and then her GP – but the authorities were not alerted.

The victim finally went to the police last year after confiding to her counsellor what had taken place more than 30 years ago.

Jailing Madin, now of Ferrier Bank, Warton, Preston, Lancashire, for 10 years, Judge Jonathan Bennett said: “There are some elements of what I have read about you that seriously disturb me.

“I have read your pre-sentence report and you do not seem to fully understand why you are here because you have apologised and made an out of court settlement.

“That shows a total lack of understanding of the effect of what you did has had on your victim. This was a vulnerable child, a little girl with difficulties and you took advantage of that.

“You even suggest that she was doing this deliberately and that she was sexually active. She was six. You have some very disturbed thinking and you pose a high risk.”

Mr Stockwell said the offending took place in the mid-1980s.

He said: “He showed her affection which started with kissing and cuddling and then progressed to stroking her chest and then stroking her sexually over and under clothing. She told her family and her GP when she was around 16 but this was not pursued.

“The defendant had a sum of money that he used to bribe or compensate her for what he had done. But she continued to struggle to cope over the years and he was arrested after she disclosed what had happened to a counsellor.”

Madin was arrested and gave “no comment” answers to questions put to him.

He was charged and pleaded guilty to the rape of a child and 10 other counts of sexually abusing the girl.

Michelle Brown, defending Madin, said her client committed the offences “when he was a much younger man”.

She said: “There is little mitigation is such cases. He accepts he was looking for love and affection and appreciates he took it too far.

“It is right to say that the defendant became a Jehovah’s witness in 2011 and there is no suggestion there has been any other offending of this nature over the past 30 years.

“His strongest mitigation is that he pleaded guilty to what he did at the earliest opportunity.”

Derbyshire police were unable to supply a custody photograph of Madin.

Deviant guilty of having sex with horse tried to kill girl

A SEXUAL deviant has been found guilty of having sex with a horse as it emerged he tried to kill a girl who caught him in a pony romp more than 25 years ago.

Julian Ridgeway, 53, described as a ‘dangerous sexual deviant’, had attempted to murder the 16-year-old girl in 1990 after she caught him about to attack her pony.

Ridgeway served an eight-year prison sentence following the incident in which he tried to choke the teenager so “she would not live to tell the tale.”

This week, Leeds Crown Court, West Yorks, heard Ridgeway was at it again a quarter-of-a-century later after leading a horse into a pig pen before being disturbed by farmers.

The mare named Honey was later examined by a vet at the farm in Wakefield, West Yorks., and DNA was recovered from inside the animal which matched to Ridgeway.

Recorder Paul Greaney, QC, told Ridgeway, who will be sentenced next year: “A man with your level of deviance clearly needs help.”

The horse’s owner Louise Lumley had hidden in her barn and kept watch over her 13-year-old mare who said she had been acting strange.

She then spotted Ridgeway leading the horse into the pen before challenging him with her husband – but he ran off and denied being the suspect.

However, Ridgeway, of Netherton, West Yorks., was later arrested in May of this year after the DNA evidence was recovered from the animal.

Ridgeway denied having a “long-term sexual fascination” with horses during the trial -following the incident which happened between April 28 and May 10, 2016.

He admitted touching the horse – but said his behaviour was not sexual and claimed the DNA must have come from his clothing during the ‘touching’.

Ridgeway was found guilty of intercourse with an animal and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence by a jury during trial.

Jurors were only told of Ridgeway’s previous conviction today after taking less than an hour to reach unanimous verdicts.

A court report from March 1991 stated Ridgeway was taken from the dock at Leeds Crown Court protesting: “I have never had sex with a horse.”

That jury took less than half an hour to reach their verdict finding Ridgeway, then 28, guilty of attempted murder on July 3, 1990.

The prosecution claimed he had twice chocked her unconscious to silence her after she had found him in a “compromising situation” with her mare Ripple.

At the time, Mr Justice Jowett said: “You [Ridgeway] were about to behave in a disgusting manner with her pony and when she surprised you, you quite plainly decided she should not live to tell the tale.

“You dragged and lifted her body to a place where you hoped to conceal it.

“When you saw her begin to revive, that should have brought you to your senses; it did not – you then tried a second time to kill her.”

“It is quite clear to me, but for the fortunate appearance of her mother on the scene, you would have kept the pressure on her throat and made no mistake about it the second time, and she would have died.”

The victim had described to the jury how she had gone to her field in Wakefield, West Yorks., to look for her pony and found Ridgeway half naked.

He had no trousers or underpants on and appeared to be washing the backside of her pony from a bucket.

Ridgeway denied that he had been interfering with her horse that day and said he was not responsible for attacking the teenager.

Ridgeway’s home was also searched by police in 2011 and a video cassette was found of a man having sex with a horse.

Ridgeway was remanded in custody until February 3 to allow for a psychiatric report to be constructed before sentencing.

Aberystwyth paedophile snared in sting after release

davidjohnwilliams

A Ceredigion paedophile caught in an online sting weeks after being released for a similar offence has been jailed.

David John Williams, 54, of Aberystwyth, groomed a 14-year-old girl he met in an internet chat room while on licence in 2015.

But Williams did not know he was in fact chatting to a man hoping to help police to catch sex offenders.

He was jailed for 40 months at Swansea Crown Court after he admitted trying to facilitate child sex offences.

Judge Geraint Walters said it was “very disturbing” that Williams reoffended so quickly after leaving prison, in September last year.

“Despite the fact that you were sent to prison, you came back out and tried to do the same thing as you did before,” he said.

“I have no shadow of a doubt that, untreated, you present a significant risk.
“You are addicted to the prospect of having sex with underage girls.”

Williams, who also admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order, will be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

He was also made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Paedophile snared after arranging to meet 12-year-old victim who was actually an undercover police officer

dw

A paedophile was snared after meeting a 12-year-old girl he had groomed online for sex – who turned out to be an undercover police officer.

David John Williams was not wearing any underwear when he arrived at the Odeon cinema in Bridgend after arranging to meet the officer – posing as a girl called Beth – after chatting online to her over the course of a couple of weeks.

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to five counts of arranging the commission of child sex offences when he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday. He was jailed for 21 months.

It followed a police sting centred around the fictitious girl.

Under the username Welsh Gambler, Williams, of Llanon, Ceredigion, first contacted Beth on May 27 this year.

Prosecutor Tony Trigg told a sentencing hearing: “He was talking to Beth, saying he liked talking to younger women. He said he thought Beth was cute.”

“On May 29 there was a further conversation during which he said he would like to buy her food but it would be better if Beth were to bring a friend with her and he would tell the friend he was Beth’s uncle.”

Talking about another conversation between the two, this time on June 3, Mr Trigg told the court Williams had offered to buy Beth jewellery, make-up and clothes.

He also said he would take her to the cinema and asked her to wear a skirt – “the shorter the better”.

And he told Beth to call him “Uncle David”.

The following day he said he was looking forward to driving to Bridgend to meet Beth, saying they would go to the cinema then Porthcawl beach.

Mr Trigg added: “He said he wanted to cuddle her, hold her hands and kiss her on the lips.

“He said he wanted to play with her hair. He said he felt excited and naughty.”

Beth did not turn up the following day but sent her apologies to Williams.

And, still speaking via the online chatroom, Williams proceeded to go into increasingly graphic detail about more serious sex acts he wanted her to undertake.

Mr Trigg told the hearing Williams had asked Beth if she knew what the age of consent was, saying: “He said he had no objection to breaking the law in that regard as long as she consented.”

Police had identified their suspect by June 8, and two days later during a further conversation the 53-year-old told her he had been chatting to other girls online and that he had another ‘niece’, as Williams put it.

On June 11, the pair arranged to meet at Bridgend’s Odeon cinema – and after Williams made his way there he was arrested by the police.

Referring to the police sting, Mr Trigg said: “It was set up because it is a legitimate and proportionate way of trying to apprehend people engaged in these sorts of activities.”

Sentencing, Judge Philip Richards told Williams: “It’s quite obvious that your intentions towards her were genuine in the sense that you wished to carry them out and malign in the sense of their nature.

“It’s also quite clear that you intended to use her not simply for company but for sexual purposes.”

As well as the 21-month jail sentence – which was lower than the term which could have been passed because a real child was not involved – a sexual harm prevention order was made against Williams.

‘Dangerous’ paedophile preyed on ‘vulnerable’ mother so he could abuse her child

NEWS SIMON STORY David Rigden arrives at Hull Crown Court - sex offences.

A market trader who befriended a vulnerable mother so he could sexually abuse her young daughter has been jailed for 11 years.

Paedophile David Rigden, 64, built up such a “very high level of trust” with the family, he was able to not only bath their children but also their friend’s child.

Police found a series of indecent images on his phone, one in which the child was being seriously sexually assaulted by Rigden, a grandfather, while she was “insensible”.

It was not clear how she came to be in that state, but Judge Simon Jack, who saw the picture, told Hull Crown Court: “He must have done something to ensure she didn’t wake up.”

Rigden had also “cropped” in an innocent photograph of a child to focus on her groin area. There were also two photographs of an unidentified child’s bottom.

Rigden was handed an extended sentence after the judge ruled he was dangerous and represented a serious risk to the public.

The court heard he met the family while working 70 miles away from his home in Hemsworth Cottages, Huggate, near Driffield.

Nicola Quinney, prosecuting, said the abuse began when the girl was asleep on the front seat of Rigden’s van. He began touching her leg to what she later described as “the nappy line”. She “twitched” and he removed his hand.

“She was too scared to move or do anything,” Miss Quinney said.

Rigden, who had no previous convictions, was convicted of six offences after a retrial, after the first jury was unable to reach verdicts on all charges.

They are sexual assault of a child under 13, sexual activity with a child, making indecent photographs of a child, and three counts of making indecent images of a child.

Ruling that Rigden was dangerous, the judge told him: “You had gained a very high level of trust that I’m quite satisfied was part of a highly sophisticated process of grooming.

“I have been dealing with paedophiles for many years; most paedophiles groom children, individual children, and that enables them to commit offences against them.

“But the more sophisticated paedophiles go a stage further; they pick on a family which is vulnerable, very often a lone parent or a parent who for some reason needs support.

“It was that, that enabled you to make yourself invaluable to her [the mother], gaining her trust and gaining access to her children.”

The judge said the offence Rigden took a picture of was “one of the most serious of its kind”, and told him: “I take the view you represent a risk of serious physical harm to people you may come into contact with in the future.”

He must sign the sex offenders register for life, and was made subject to a SHPO and a restraining order for life.

Jehovah’s Witness unmasked as ‘sly paedophile’

A senior Jehovah’s Witness has been unmasked as a “sly paedophile” who abused a 14-year-old girl in the back of a van.

Family man Daniel Arthington, who is an elder and preacher in the religious order, groomed and snared his “young prey”, a court was told.

The 46 year old was caught when a local builder had noticed a van parked on occasions on a remote lane near a rugby club.

Becoming suspicious he told a friend who was a police officer who arrived and could hear voices from the back of the van, “with noises consistent with sexual activity.”

Anna Pope, prosecuting, told Caernarfon Crown Court: “He waited for about 20 minutes during which he saw the van rocking from side to side, and the prosecution say this was the defendant involved in sexual activity with a child.”

“Arthington got back into the front of the van, appearing short of breath, and the policeman asked the passenger to get out.

The court heard Arthington said to the girl: “Tell him you’re 19, I’ve already told him.”

When asked for her date of birth the girl admitted she was 14 and on his way to the police station Arthington declared: “I’m dead.”

Miss Pope said there was a mattress and sheet in the back of the van.

In an impact statement the girl said she now felt sad and depressed, had lost weight and couldn’t sleep.

Her family was now considering whether to move.

Arthington, of Llanddaniel, Anglesey, pleaded guilty to having sexual activity with a girl of 14.

Jailing him for two years and eight months, Judge Rees told him that he been greedy and lustful.

He told him: “You made a sly attempt to prevent the police from seeing her and tried to hoodwink them that she was 19.

“I’m satisfied there was an element of grooming involved in your successful attempt in snaring your young prey.

“Your fall from grace is substantial but you have nobody to blame but yourself.”

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed whose terms ban any contact with the girl and he must register indefinitely as a sexual offender.

A Sompting man is starting a five-year prison sentence for sexual offences against at least 15 schoolboys and a schoolgirl.

Russell Newman, also known as McCaw, 25, a packer, of Elizabeth Place, Sompting, was sentenced when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (December 23), having pleaded guilty at a previous hearing.

Police said he admitted two offences of sexual activity with a boy in Hampshire; three of causing and inciting two boys and a girl all aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity via the Internet; and three offences of causing the two boys to watch a sexual act.

Newman had also admitted nine offences of making and distributing indecent images of children, and two offences of possessing prohibited images, according to police.

In addition to his prison sentence he will be subject to Sex Offender registration for life and has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to last until further court notice, severely restricting his access to computers and children. He is also barred for life from ever working with children.

He systematically sought out these vulnerable children on the Internet and used money to entice them to perform sexual acts on-line for him.

Pervert jailed for sex offences with child

hunter

The former chairman of a North Yorkshire football club for girls and women has been jailed for sexual activity with a child he met through the sport.

James Hunter’s crimes have ended his quarter of a century in football as player, coach and club official, his barrister Taryn Turner told York Crown Court.

She called him a “pillar of the community” who had lost his job, his marriage and probably his house through his sexual affair with the girl who was in her teens.

Anthony Dunne, prosecuting, said Hunter, 38, had driven to three meetings with the girl during which they had engaged in sexual activity.

“He said (to the girl) it was wrong because of her age and he was married,” said the prosecution barrister. But Hunter had continued the sexual activity for a couple of months until he stopped answering her social media messages.

Judge Andrew Stubbs QC said after police learnt about the relationship, they carried out extensive investigations including within Scarborough Ladies Football Club, of which Hunter was chairman at the time, and failed to find any more victims.

He told Hunter: “You told her how wrong it was, how you could go to prison and yet you were unable to control yourself despite that honesty.

He jailed Hunter, of Tindall Street, Scarborough, for four years, put him on the sex offenders’ register for life and made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life, restricting his contact with girls under 16 and banning him from contacting the girl again.

The judge said he didn’t regard Hunter as a predatory paedophile.

Officers only made the discovery after being tipped off the 58-year-old was accessing indecent images of children online.

Members of the Sussex Police Paedophile On-Line Investigation Team (POLIT) raided Munro’s address in Goodwood Way, Brighton, in May 2015.

He also secretly fitted a miniature camera into the bathroom she used enabling him to watch her.

A Sussex Police spokesman said none of the indecent images are of the woman but they had been downloaded from the internet and not thought to be of local children.

Munro pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images, one charge of voyeurism and one charge of computer misuse.

He was jailed for 20 months when he appeared at Chichester Crown Court on Thursday (December 22).

He will be required to register as a sex offender for ten years and given a sexual harm prevention order to last indefinitely, severely restricting his access to children and computers.

On the run ‘sadistic’ construction firm boss arrested by Merseyside Police

morris

A “sadistic” construction firm boss who was handed a three year jail term for forcing children to carry out work and subjecting them to violent punishments has finally been arrested and jailed after going on the run

Officers at Merseyside Police seized Robert George Morris, 47, of Caergeiliog, Anglesey this evening.

Morris had pleaded guilty to three charges of cruelty to a person under 16 in August this year but avoided a custodial term when a judge handed him an 18-month suspended sentence at Mold Crown Court.

But that sentence was overturned at the Appeal Court in London on Monday after it was blasted for being too soft by Attorney General Jeremy Wright QC, who had referred the case to the higher court.

The Appeal Court heard how Morris “injured” three children with weapons “including a hammer, bottle and a screwdriver”.

He forced them to fight and “strangled” one of them “to the point at which the child passed out”.

Youngsters were subjected to cruel treatment and “sadistic behaviour” by Morris over a prolonged period.

Eventually they complained about their treatment at his hands and he was arrested, the court heard.

Lady Justice Rafferty, sitting with Mr Justice Wyn Williams and Mr Justice Morris, ruled: “This sentence was unduly lenient.

“The appropriate sentence in this case is one of three years.”

On Tuesday Morris was ordered to hand himself over to his local police station to be sent to prison but went on the run.

Plymouth man jailed for abducting girl and plying her with drugs

rowe

A MAN has been jailed for abducting a 14-year-old girl and plying her with cannabis.

Michael Rowe, aged 38, befriended the vulnerable schoolgirl and repeatedly let her stay at his flat, where she was supplied with the drug.

Her mother told Plymouth Crown Court that Rowe had “robbed my daughter of her childhood and her innocence”.

She added in a statement: “You took my little girl away from me.”

Judge Paul Darlow said that the girl had gone willingly to the flat and there was no evidence of sexual misbehaviour.

He said: “This girl was a highly vulnerable and damaged individual.

“The defendant provided her with a bolthole and clearly ignored the pleas of her mother for her to stay away and not to provide her with drugs.”

He jailed Rowe for two years and eight months in his absence.

Rowe, of Morice Street, Devonport, had pleaded guilty to detaining a child under 16 without lawful authority or reasonable excuse on June 20.

He kept the girl out of the lawful control of those with the proper authority.

Rowe, who had earlier sacked his legal team, refused to leave Exeter Prison and face the girl’s mother across a courtroom.

Kelly Scrivener, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Rowe befriended the girl and allowed her to spend nights there, where she smoked cannabis.

She added that the girl’s mother asked him to stop and call her if she came around.

The teenager later told police that she went to the flat about four times a week and smoked cannabis.

Miss Scrivener said the mother said that she was so badly affected by drugs after one visit that she could barely stand.

She added that police issued a child abduction notice on Rowe warning him not to let the girl, then still aged 13, into the flat.

Miss Scrivener said the girl disappeared on June 20 and was eventually traced to his flat.

The mother, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said in her statement addressed to Rowe: “You have shown no remorse, even now. You sack your legal team and refuse to talk to probation. Everything is about your needs and not about the needs of the child whose life you have ripped to shreds.”

The mother said that only once Rowe was locked up in remand after his arrest in June had the girl been clear of drugs and able to receive the support she needed.

At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Sheriff James Williamson said a social work report showed Dickson presented a low risk of reoffending.

He sentenced Dickson, 45, of Northmuir Road, Drumchapel, to a three year community payback order that included 300 hours’ unpaid work and to take part in the Clyde Quay sex offenders project.
