Man who told little girl abuse was ‘our little secret’ is jailed for three years

A 64-year-old Gloucestershire man who persuaded a young girl to touch him sexually wept as he was jailed for three years four months at Gloucester Crown Court.

Bryn Charles, of Smithville close, St Briavels, admitted inciting the little girl to touch him and then asking her not to tell anyone because it was “their little secret.”

But the girl told a family member what happened and Charles was arrested.

Prosecutor Janine Wood said: “He admitted the offence immediately. He said he didn’t know why he had done it.

“He was mortified. He said he had no interest in child pornography but had looked at adult porn.”

Charles broke down crying in the dock as the prosecutor went on to give more details of the case and read out a statement from the little girl’s mother.

She stated “I was extremely shocked by what happened.”

“What has happened has been hard to get my head around,” she stated.

“I am so concerned that what he did may affect my daughter in the future.”

Mrs Wood said Charles had unrelated previous convictions going back many years to the 1970s.

However, she said, there was a relevant incident in October 2015 when he was cautioned by the police for indecently exposing himself to an adult.

Judge Michael Cullum said he had read medical reports which showed Charles is currently being treated by the mental health services.

“He is struggling, really, with what he has done and the breakdown of his life,” the judge said.

Dermot Clarke, defending, said: “Something was obviously going on in his life. He is trying to get to grips with what the problem is.

“He appears to have some insight into why he has done this but recognises that cannot be the whole picture.

“He is obviously remorseful. He almost cannot live with himself.

“He has not tried to hide anything and realises he has very much overstepped the mark.”

Judge Cullum told Charles: “You didn’t just step over the mark – there is no mark. There is an enormous wall between what is right and wrong . You knew this because you’d had a reminder last year when you received a caution for exposing yourself.

“Your abuse of this girl is bound to have an effect on her. It is hoped that at her young age it will not stay with her. It will certainly stay with her mother and I suspect the young child as she grows up will always know of the fact she was abused and that may cause problems.”

The judge jailed Charles for three years four months and ordered him to sign the sex offender register for life. He also said Charles will be barred from working with children in either a professional or voluntary capacity.

As distraught Charles was taken down to the cells he said: “Don’t I get a chance to speak?”

Later, Mr Clarke pointed out to the judge that Charles had been charged under the wrong section of the Sexual Offences Act and a lower level of sentencing applied to that section.

But the judge said that had been a ‘bad mistake’ by the Crown Prosecution Servi ce and he did not intend to change his sentence.

Suspicious bride went through hubby’s phone – found sickening stash of indecent pics of kids

A SUSPICIOUS bride who feared her new husband was cheating discovered a horrifying stash of indecent pictures of kids on his phone.

Newlywed Jane, 47, says she desperately wishes groom David Huggins had been cheating after making the sickening discovery just weeks after their dream wedding.

But despite calling police and kicking him out, the pair are still married because disgusted Jane can’t afford to get a divorce after spending all her savings on her big day.

Jane, from Birmingham, suffered a breakdown over the hurt and humiliation of marrying a man she didn’t know, and had to tell friends and family her groom was a lying pervert.

She says she wishes David, 48, been cheating with another woman, because the sickening truth was so much worse.

But she does not regret her decision to shop him to police and wants to tell her story to name and shame him and encourage others in her distressing position to do the same

“I had absolutely no idea. When he lost interest in sex and became secretive around his phone I became suspicious that he had another woman,” Jane told the Mail Online.

“I checked his phone expecting to find evidence he was seeing someone, but what I saw was far worse.”

Lorry driver David was arrested and Jane threw him out just 10 weeks after their big day.

He later admitted four counts of making indecent photographs of children and was given an eight-month suspended sentence and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for the next 10 years.

Devastated grandma Jane was hoping to find love again after her previous husband, also called David, tragically died from a lung condition.

“To think I married a man as sick as him has destroyed me but it’s the poor children that I really feel for,” said Jane, who was unable to get the marriage annulled.

“They are the true victims.

“I want to share my story to warn other women and encourage people to report sick men like David.

“It broke me but it was the right thing to do because men like him need to be stopped.”

Man (36) pleaded guilty to sexual activity with girl

A Redditch man is facing a jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

Steven Chinn, 36, also admitted giving the girl drugs when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court.

Chinn, of Campden Close, Redditch, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with the girl between December 1 last year and April 1 this year, once in a motor vehicle.

He also admitted supplying her with cannabis and administering a psychoactive drug to the girl with the intention of having sexual activity with her.

He also admitted two child porn offences and one of having extreme porn involving sex with animals

Judge Nicholas Cartwright ordered a pre-sentence report and granted Chinn conditional bail with an electronically monitored curfew but warned him a prison sentence was almost inevitable.

He is due to return to court for sentencing on January 5 next year.

Paedophile who kissed a child insists he’s a five-year-old girl and brought doll to court

A 55-year-old sex offender sucked his thumb throughout a court hearing after his doll was taken off him.

Jorven Seren appeared before a judge after he forced himself on a girl outside a shop, kissing her in front of her mother.

He was arrested after people from a nearby church in Thanet, Kent, spotted the attack and contacted police.

They found more than 460 images of child abuse on his phone which he says were there after being persuaded to download them by a paedophile who has since died.

In court, Seren asked to be referred to as a woman and held the doll in his arms.

Judge Williams said: ‘That is totally inappropriate and I make it plain she will not be doing that for the rest of the hearing.’

In April last year members of a church had contacted officers after becoming concerned about Seren’s behaviour towards children.

Sometime later the victim’s mother saw Seren trying to get the attention of her very young child and later saw her child being kissed on the lips.

The mother later described it as ‘a prolonged peck’ and immediately took the child away after becoming ‘deeply shocked’ by the incident.

Police had a meeting with Seren and noted ‘some items of concern’ in his home.

In July last year Seren was arrested and officers found the images on his computer which he claimed had been downloaded by a man known to police as a paedophile.

The court heard how Seren thinks he is a five-year-old girl and is regarded as ‘highly vulnerable’.

Although psychiatrists concluded the defendant has personality problems he did not have any mental illness and he was jailed him for a total of 15 months.

Judge Williams told him: ‘I know it will be difficult for you to serve a custodial sentence but I have a duty to protect the public and especially young children.’

Pervert archaeologist claimed his gender confusion caused his paedophilia

An archaeologist who blamed being transgender for possessing more than 2,000 horrific child abuse images – including the rape of a baby -is this week starting a jail sentence.

Mark Woodley from Middleton, Great Linford admitted his vile crimes to police after telling hospital staff his “gender dysphoria” had turned him into a paedophile.

A judge heard that Woodley, appearing in court on his 39th birthday, admitted himself to hospital telling staff he had a “serious problem.”

Woodley, who sported vibrant green and blonde dyed hair, admitted possession 97 of the most serious category of indecent child images, 74 of the second and a staggering 1,906 belonging in the least serious category.

He was only jailed for six months after a judge sitting at Aylesbury Crown Court was told he self-reported to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and gave voluntary admissions to the police.

Prosecuter Sandra Beck said: “Police were contacted on April 7 by a member of the mental health assessment team at Stoke Mandeville where he had walked in as a patient and disclosed that he had been viewing the images.”

Judge Francis Sheridan described the “filthy” images to the court, saying they included a baby girl suffering horrific rapes and caused “immense” psychological harm to children.

Police found the indecent images on cumputer equpiment during a raid at Woodley’s home.

Judge Sheridan quizzed Mr Samat over how the “gender dysphoria” made him want to watch the horrific abuse of young boys and girls.

“How does viewing little children being raped help with his gender identity?” asked the judge.

The lawyer said Woodley was “curious” to find out if he was a paedophile after he learned his father was charged with sex offences.

“It was curiosity.. if there was a passing on of that,” said Mr Samat.

He added: “Having looked at the images he then goes to fantasise whether he would like to be a young female child and that is the gist of it.”

The lawyer, who was unable to explain his client’s actions further, then urged the judge to give Woodley a suspended sentence.

“He would be exceptionally vulnerable if he were imprisoned immediately,” he said.

Judge Sheridan however, refused, jailing Woodley to six months in jail, saying: “Everybody who pleads guilty to these offences, if they went straight into the mainstream (prison) they would be vulnerable but that is not what happens – their file is marked.”

He added: “He made it clear from the day at the police station that he was guilty of these offences.

“The psychiatric report in his case makes it clear that this man is not suffering from a mental condition or health condition, no psychiatric reasons or direct risk to the public in terms of this behaviour outside of the internet offending.

“The psychiatrist makes it clear that there is no fitness to plead or any issues such as that, so what has he pleaded guilty to?

“Ninety-seven category A, 74 category B, 1906 category C.

“There is a rape of a baby orally, anally, vaginally and that applies to some other children. These are all innocent children wherever in the world they hail from.”

The judge added: “Every child is entitled to be protected and cherished and judges across these civilised parts of the world most stand together to condemn this trade.The psychological harm to them is immense often irreparable and it is for these reasons that it must be taken seriously.”

Woodley received three six month jail sentences, one for each category of indecent images. They will run concurrently.

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his internet access was made and he was signed on to the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.

The court heard a “small tent” of seedling cannabis plants were found during the police raid at Woodley’s home. He was given no separate penalty after he admitted possession of a class B drug.

Pervert jailed for sex attack on girl, 13, in Preston park

A pervert who subjected a teenage girl to an horrific sex attack in a Lancashire park was on the FBI’s ‘Most Wanted’ list.

Gerard Zalewski, 32, of Dartford, Kent, fled to the UK to avoid jail for a sex attack on a child in the USA in 2006.

The FBI put the fugitive on their Most Wanted list, but once in the UK he was able to continue his vile behaviour.

Earlier this year, he met a 13-year-old girl online, who he then groomed and then abused in a sickening attack in Withy Grove Park, Bamber Bridge.

Today he was jailed for 12 years by a judge at Preston Crown Court.

Zalewski groomed his 13 year old victim over the internet, and persuaded her to send a number of indecent images of herself to him.

He then arranged to meet her in a park in Bamber Bridge, near Preston, in June.

Zalewski, of Dartford in Kent, subjected his vulnerable victim to sexual abuse over several hours including taping her mouth with masking tape, putting a dog collar around her neck and writing the words “rape me” on her leg.

He then took pictures of her on his mobile phone.

Following the incident Zalewski fled but was arrested in Kent on June 21 after a man-hunt.

He pleaded guilty in October to two counts of penetrative sexual activity with a child; meeting a child following sexual grooming; making indecent photographs of a child and false imprisonment.

He appeared at Preston Crown Court today (Tuesday) for sentence.

He was imprisoned for a total of 12 years and given an extended indeterminate licence period.

Zalewski is wanted by the FBI in America for failing to appear on March 29 2006, at a sentencing hearing for committing involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old female victim in June 2004, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

In November 2004, Zalewski pleaded guilty to these offences.

He was convicted in his absence to serve 5 to 20 years in a state correctional institution, and to surrender to custody by 31st March 2006. When he did not appear, an arrest warrant was issued.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicki Evans, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Gerard Zalewski is a dangerous and predatory sexual deviant who posed a significant risk to children across the country.

“He groomed this vulnerable young teenager before arranging to meet her knowing that she was under 16. He then filmed her for his own gratification.”

Exeter trained football coach dragged teen girl into his car for sex attack

A sexual predator who followed a terrified teenager around a town centre for 10 minutes has been jailed for dragging her into his car and assaulting her.

The brave victim was groped by Felix Reilly as he bundled her into his car in Exmouth but managed to escape and run to safety as he was getting in the driver’s door.

Football coach Reilly had spent the afternoon looking at sex and prostitution websites before he went out in his car in the early hours of the morning.

The CCTV system in Exmouth captured him driving slowly around the streets for 20 minutes until he spotted the girl, who he followed for a further 10 minutes before attacking her near the police station.

He dragged her into his car even though she was kicking out and screaming for help. He pushed her leg inside and slammed the door but she opened it again and he pushed her inside for a second time.

She only managed to get free as he had got into the driving seat and was about to drive off. She got the door open for the third time and ran off

Reilly took part in a community initiative “Creating Chances” programme at Exeter City which was for NEETS & Unemployed adults in which participant’s learn about Leadership, Role’s and Responsibilities within a team.

Police praised the courage of his victim after he was jailed.

Reilly, aged 30, of Maunders Place, Otterton, admitted sexual assault and was jailed for 18 months by Judge Graham Cottle at Exeter Crown Court.

He told him:”This was a terribly terrifying experience for this young girl who was making her way home alone, at night, in Exmouth.

“You can be seen on CCTV clearly circling around in your vehicle and there come a time when you are quite obviously following her.

“Eventually you tried to grab her. You grabbed her between the legs, pulling her into your car. I am not sure exactly how long she remained kidnapped but it was a few minutes before she was able to effect her release.

“It was a very frightening experience and her victim personal statement says how terrified she was and talks about the long term consequences for her of what you did that night.”

Mr Peter Coombe, prosecuting, said the evidence of Reilly’s internet use in the hours before the incident suggested he may have been planning an attack or abduction.

He said:”This case is serious because there was an abduction. There was planning because during the course of the day he was on the internet and looked at numerous sexual sites and at prostitute and escort services.

“The CCTV footage shows his car crawling around the town centre for 20 minutes, during the last ten of which he was following the complainant.

“He grabbed her and she resisted but he bundled her into his car and before that had rubbed his hand against her private parts over her clothing.

“There was a struggle in the car and she was ultimately able to escape. It is an aggravating feature t hat this happened at 4 am in a town centre.”

Following the verdict and sentencing of Felix Reilly, Detective Constable Georgina Gainford said: “This was clearly a frightening and traumatic incident and I thank the victim for her strength and bravery in coming forward to the police.

“Mr Reilly is clearly a dangerous individual and we are pleased that he has received a custodial sentence, as well as being placed on the sex offenders register.

Ex-Celtic kitman arrested in Belfast after confessing to abusing young players

A former football coach has come clean about the years of sexual abuse he inflicted on young players, saying there are so many he can’t remember them all.

Former Celtic kit man Jim McCafferty, 71, confessed to a 20-year campaign of abuse during the 1980s and 90s in a bid to “unburden himself” and “cleanse his soul” after a whistleblower came forward about his behaviour.

The ailing pensioner, who now lives in South Belfast, named four players he assaulted in the 1980s and 90s while he coached at youth clubs in West Lothian and later Celtic.

Paedophile jailed for 12 years after committing 16 sex offences against two young girls

A paedophile has been jailed for 12 years after committing 16 sex offences against two young girls over a period of more than 25 years.

Pensioner Ralph Gwynne (72) was convicted of nine offences of indecent assault of a child, six offences of sexual activity with a child and one of taking indecent pictures of a child.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that Gwynne, of Willow Close, Bramley, touched one of his victim’s private parts at his home between September 1985 and March 1986.

 ‘Disgusting’ pervert offered to pay girl cash to clean his flat topless

John Robert Cornforth, 59, made the lewd offer and then repeated his proposition via text message, leaving his victim ‘extremely distressed’, a court heard.

The brave victim confided in her mum, who went to the police.

At Warrington Crown Court, Cornforth, of Byron Street, Macclesfield, admitted inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Sentencing him to a two year prison sentence suspended for two years, Judge Tina Langdale slammed Cornforth’s behaviour as ‘absolutely disgusting’.

She said: “The victim was a young girl who has been extremely distressed by your behaviour towards her.

“You set out to exploit that child.

“For your titillation and enjoyment you offered £40 to clean your flat topless. That is extremely serious.

“Fortunately, she has a loving relationship with her mother and was able to confide in her.

“You are 59 years of age and sought to look at the breasts of a child. It’s absolutely disgusting. The disparity in age is extreme and disgusting.”

John Oates, prosecuting, told the court: “He said to the girl that he would give her £40 to clean his flat topless.

“He then repeated the request via text message.

“The girl went to her mother and was very upset. She felt guilty and that it was in some way her fault.

“When he was questioned by police Cornforth admitted it was stupid.”

Cornforth was also sentenced to a rehabilitation activity for 60 days and was ordered to complete a sex offenders treatment programme.

He was given a curfew for three months, subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Judge Langdale added: “I don’t want you to think this is a lenient sentence because I promise any breach of this order and you will go to jail.”

Headmaster of Queen’s Windsor Castle school admits he is a paedophile

A HEADMASTER at the Queen’s school at Windsor Castle has admitted he is a paedophile after a court heard he sexually abused boys in his Latin classes and watched them shower naked.

Anthony Brailsford, 69, of Rays Avenue in Dedworth who was a Latin teacher at the prestigious St George’s School, initially denied indecently assaulting a young boy and rubbing his buttocks.

But the pensioner dramatically changed his plea to ‘guilty’ part way through a trial after a judge ordered that the jury should be told he had already admitted possessing indecent images of children.

Brailsford, who was acting headmaster at the time of the attacks, today admitted three counts of indecent assault on the same boy at the school between January 1997 and March 1998.

Jurors were to be told that he had admitted two counts of making indecent images of children – which were mostly of naked, pre-pubescent boys – at a court hearing in 2014.

The judge, referring to a statement from the boy victim, said: “The defendant required him to take work to his desk.

“He was asked questions. Then it was alleged he placed his hand on [the victim’s] neck and ran it down his back and patted his backside.

“It would remain there while he was questioned by the teacher.”

Speaking of the showers incidents at the school, the judge continued: “The victim says Mr Brailsford was the only teacher who did this to him and other boys.”

The victim, who was aged 12 or 13 years old and was boarding at the school at the time, told police in 2014 that he was attacked between five and seven times and that Brailsford had watched him showering with other naked boys at the school, the court heard.

The jury was discharged from Reading Crown Court after Mr Recorder Christopher Quinlan QC ruled that they should hear that Brailsford was warned by the schoolmaster Reverend Roger Marsh over him touching boys sexually at the school.

“Another set of parents told Reverend Marsh of rumours about the defendant’s behaviour,” said the judge.

Mr Recorder Quinlan said jurors would be told about the headmaster’s note of a meeting he held with white-haired Brailsford following a verbal warning over his behaviour.

The note, which was kept in the school’s records and supported by a later statement from Rev Marsh, read: “I saw the senior master in connection with allegations made about him, touching boys on the back and bottom.

“Mr Brailsford said that he did sometimes run his hand down backs of boys in that way.”

The court heard that Rev. Marsh warned Brailsford verbally about the assaults after the boy, who had been preparing for entrance exams to join prestigious Eton College, had left the school.

The judge said Brailsford had “assured” the Reverend that the attacks would stop at the meeting in April 1998.

The headmaster’s note continued: “He said it still happened but less often, despite the verbal warning I gave him on April 7 1998.”

The court heard that the Rev. Marsh, who had also spoken to Brailsford over the rumours two months before the formal warning, later sent a further written warning to the teacher.

The judge said social services then launched an investigation and police were informed.

He ruled the jury could hear of Brailsford’s admissions of having indecent images after his defending lawyer, Jon Mitchell, told the court they were “naturist” and not of a sexual nature.

The court heard they included an image of of Michaelangelo’s world famous Statue of David. However, Mr Recorder Quinlan said: “The defence do not accept that it shows a sexual interest in boys or at all… being naturist in nature, they depict no exhale acts.

“It is right also that there is the occasional naked statue.

“There might well have been a single image of Michaelangelo’s David.”

But he added there were also hundreds of images of which the majority were of “pre-pubescent boys’ naked backsides”.

The hearing was adjourned temporarily as the prosecuter Jane Davies and Mr Mitchell agreed for the defendant, who lives in Rays Avenue, Windsor, Berks., to change his pleas and to admit the charges.

Mr Recorder Quinlan told the jury: “He having admitted those charges, your work done, so I am going to formally discharge you from delivering a verdict.”

Brailsford, who appeared in the dock dressed in a dark suit and blue tie, was released on conditional bail to return to the court to be sentenced on January 6.

The teacher, who had admitted the indecent images charges last April, was ordered not to enter St George’s School in Windsor, Berks., or its grounds.

Brailsford was also forbidden from making direct or indirect contact with anyone involved in the case and from having any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16 years.

He must also live and sleep each night at his home address and co-operate with the probation service which will prepare a pre-sentence report on him before his sentencing in January.

At the time the offences were claimed to have been committed, Brailsford was a schoolmaster at St George’s School, having been appointed as acting headmaster in 1993.

Pupils who attend the school, which is a unisex day and boarding school for students aged three years to 13 years, include the choristers of St George’s chapel – a place of royal worship situated behind the school in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Pervert avoids jail after filming up schoolgirls’ skirts

A pervert arrested for filming up the skirts of school girls and women avoided an immediate prison sentence, despite the judge calling him “wholly, utterly depraved”.

Lee Davies, 42, was spotted acting suspiciously in Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington on May 29.

Anthony O’Donohoe, prosecuting, said: “He was carrying a bag for life from a supermarket at the bottom of which was his mobile phone positioned in such a way it would record up females skirts.”

A security guard witnessed Davies “fiddling” with the camera and invading the personal space of women. The police were called and when detained he said: “Ok, I have been doing it.”

When his mobile phone was examined officers saw a video clip up a female’s skirt. Other images “appeared to be school uniform of young girls,” said Mr O’Donohoe.

Davies’ home was searched and two laptops and a memory card were seized containing “many, many images of such filming up skirts of other women and girls invariably wearing short skirts or tight clothing.”

There were also 188 images of child abuse in all three categories of seriousness and almost 1,000 extreme porn images depicting sexual activity involving animals and adults. Additionally there were five prohibited cartoon images involving child abuse, said Mr O’Donohoe.

Davies, of Brunswick Road, Newton-le-Willows , pleaded guilty to outraging public decency; three offences of making indecent images; three involving possessing a total of 188 indecent images, 941 extreme pornographic images and five prohibited images.

Sentencing him to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years, Mr Justice Dove told him that he had invaded the privacy of the women by filming up their skirts “in a manner which was wholly and totally depraved.

“I don’t accept that there are no victims simply because they were oblivious to your depraved behaviour. They clearly were victims and it was a serious violation of their privacy.”

He said that those images combined with those found on his computer equipment “shows a thoroughly depraved interest and perverted sexual appetite which you developed.”

The judge said that he accepted Davies now has some insight into the disgusting nature of his behaviour and had expressed a desire “to mend your ways and be educated so you do not get involved in this behaviour in the future”.

He ordered him to attend a sexual offences rehabilitation course and 10 days probation service activities. He also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register for ten years and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order restricting his internet use for five years.

German pervert who groomed Scots girl tracks down victim HOURS after he was freed on bail

A GERMAN paedo tracked his teenage victim down within hours of appeal court judges overturning a sheriff’s decision to lock him up.

Uwe Kaiser was granted his freedom by the appeal court despite a sheriff ruling that he posed a danger to the public after being caught trying to take his victim to Germany.

But immediately after being freed last week, Kaiser defied strict bail conditions banning him from contacting the girl by sending her a series of text and WhatsApp messages.

Kaiser also ignored a condition to tell the police where he was living within three days of being released from prison.

Today, Kaiser was back in custody at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted two charges of breaching bail and failing to register a new address between 29 November and 5 December.

Sheriff Linda Smith refused bail and sentence was deferred.

The 49-year-old was remanded in custody at the end of last month after he admitted grooming and child porn offences. He also admitted defying a court order to see the girl.

The girl, who is considered vulnerable and comes from a disturbed family background, has told prosecutors she wants to move to Germany with the middle-aged plant operator.

Perth Sheriff Court heard earlier how Kaiser and the girl were traced together in London – on their way to Germany – after she became the subject of a missing persons inquiry.

The Scots girl was found 500 miles from home with Kaiser almost a year after he began grooming her on a series of social media platforms.

He sent her sexually explicit selfies through social media sites including WhatsApp and Skype and persuaded her to send graphic material back to him.

Chemical plant operator Kaiser flew to Scotland to meet the girl in Crieff and persuaded her to leave home and travel back to Frankfurt with him.

Kaiser convinced the girl that they could “start a new life together” at his home in Germany.

They boarded an overnight bus from Perth and were eventually discovered in London after desperate police sent the girl a series of text and email messages.

Kaiser was remanded in custody a fortnight ago after he admitted grooming a 15-year-old girl between January and October 2015.

A pervert who was caught in an undercover sting by the ‘Guardians of the North’ online child protection team has been spared prison.

Steven Baldock, 47 of Mottingham, thought he was speaking to a schoolgirl when he sent sexually graphic messages asking if the child wanted to have sex with him.

After a long conversation online, he was confronted at his home by the team and openly admitted to being a paedophile and to grooming other children online.

Shockingly his house was situated between a nursery and primary school

The court heard that Baldock believed he was talking to female children aged 13-15.

His intent was to meet them for sexual purposes.

During the chats he sent graphic videos and pictures of himself. He also spoke on the phone to the female decoy, telling her that he wanted to marry and have children in the near future.

Paedophile who shared images on Twitter spared jail despite admitting ‘morbid fascination’ with child abuse

A paedophile who used Twitter to share depraved images of children being sexually abused was spared jail after he admitted having a “morbid fascination” with child abuse.

Francis Thomas, 66, of North Road, Westcliff, admitted downloading hundreds of images to his phone and computers over five years, but said he got no sexual gratification from them and was impotent.

However, Basildon Crown Court heard Thomas had social media accounts under the name Vanilla Scream and used them to share images and chat with other paedophiles.

Lynne Shirley, prosecuting, said: “There was an even split between boys and girls. The majority were aged six and upwards.

“The youngest was a boy around six months and the oldest was 15 years old.”

The court heard 203 images were in the most serious category A, involving children being raped, while there were 344 category B images and 1,323 category C images.

Francis also had a collection of images involving animal abuse, other extreme sexual acts and sick cartoons of children.

He admitted three counts of possession of child abuse images, one count of distributing two category C images and two counts of possessing extreme pornography.

The court heard Francis was caught after officer from Essex Police’s online investigation team (POLIT) noticed his Twitter activity.

He was arrested and his devices were then seized, including a phone installed with the Kik messaging app, which he had protected with another encryption app.

Referring to a report by the Probation Service, his defence said a pair of binoculars kept at the window of his 13th floor flat were “for looking at boats, not children”.

He said: “There was no evidence that he was part of a sophisticated group trading and sharing these images.”

Judge Ian Graham handed Francis an eight month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He must sign the sex offender’s register for ten years and his internet use will be monitored. Thomas was also ordered to pay £600 costs.

Lie detector helps jail ‘dangerous’ paedophile

A man has been jailed for six years for a number of sex offences against two children including a boy aged under 13.

Alan Connolly, 33, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual assault on the boy, one count of taking indecent photographs of a child and three counts of making indecent images of children.

Connolly, who appeared at Luton Crown Court yesterday, was arrested for downloading indecent images in September before admitting to further offences following a voluntary polygraph test, commonly known as a lie detector.

He has been ordered to register as a sex offender as well as abide by a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) indefinitely.

Connolly is a dangerous individual and a risk to children. His predatory behaviour has had a profound effect on his victims. This case is a perfect example of how valuable polygraphs can be in securing disclosures from suspects. Although it is not evidential, it greatly assists in assessing the risk factor of suspects to vulnerable children.

Dark Justice snare pervert trying to meet ’13-year-old girl’ for a ‘kiss and a cuddle’

A pervert who turned up to meet a 13-year-old girl to “kiss and cuddle” but was instead confronted by paedophile hunters Dark Justice has been spared prison

Stephen Bateman thought he was meeting an underage schoolgirl he had met on Facebook and been having online sex chat with.

But the 24-year-old had been snared by Dark Justice, who pose as teen girls online to expose men looking for sex with children.

But despite adding the ‘girl’ on Facebook and pleading guilty to attempted grooming, a judge let him walk from court.

Judge Amanda Rippon handed him a suspended sentence – because of his immaturity.

Bateman, of Walker, Newcastle, was snared when Dark Justice turned up to meet him – with the police in tow – at the city’s Millennium Bridge in February.

He initially claimed he was in the area just to see the seaside quayside, a patch of walkway the council converts into a makeshift beach each year.

Prosecutor Emma Downing said: “He said his only intention was to look at the Quayside beach and denied sexual motivation.

“He said they were only going to chat.”

On the day he was due to stand trial at Newcastle Crown Court Bateman pleaded guilty to attempted grooming.

Prosecutors accepted his guilty plea on the basis he intended to “kiss and cuddle” with the girl but no further sexual activity.

Miss Downing told the court Bateman had sent the girl a friend request on Facebook and said it was a “random add”.

The conversation quickly turned sexual, despite Bateman being told almost immediately that she was only 13.

During one conversation Bateman was asked what he wanted at the meet up and he replied “kiss and cuddle”.

Judge Amanda Rippon told Bateman: “You must understand, this is a serious offence. You cannot engage in sexual conversation with children.

“You are lucky that this was not a 13-year-old who met you because the offences could have been a lot more serious.

“When you met your intention was to kiss and cuddle her and nothing more but if she had been 13 and a meeting had followed you may have gone further than that.”

Judge Rippon sentenced Bateman to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, with rehabilitation requirements and ten year sex offender registration.
