‘Manipulative’ pervert who groomed girl, 13, on Snapchat

c

A PERVERT has been branded as “manipulative” by a judge after he groomed a 13-year-old girl on Snapchat – before having sex with her six times.

Christopher Lowde, 21, was first contacted by the girl in late 2013, but arranged to meet the youngster in a nightclub in Spring 2014, a court heard.

David Gordon, prosecuting, said at the end of the evening, Lowde asked the girl for sex and she agreed.

Lowde drove the girl to the coast village of Fraisthorpe, near Bridlington, East Yorkshire, and then had sex with her on the front passenger seat of the car.

Mr Gordon said: “The defendant took her home. She was concerned about being pregnant. No protection had been used.

“The defendant took fright and stopped contacting her for about three weeks until the pregnancy scare had gone.”

Lowde contacted the girl again through Snapchat and she agreed to meet him again.

He drove the girl to an industrial estate near Bridlington and had sex with her again in his car.

The girl told police she had sex with Lowde six times in total, including at Lowde’s parents’ home.

Mr Gordon said: “Looking back, she feels violated and realises he was just using her for sex.”

Christopher Lowde

In mid 2014 the girl confided in a child protection officer at her school and Lowde was arrested.

Mr Gordon said: “The defendant said he had consensual sex with (the girl).

“He said that he had known that she was under age.

“He accepted that they had sex at his house and at Fraisthorpe on three to five occasions, but not at Carnaby Industrial Estate.

“He insisted he put her under no pressure in this regard.”

Mr Gordon said there was a number of “aggravating features” to the case, including Lowde using Snapchat to groom the girl over a number of weeks.

Lowde, from Driffield, East Yorkshire, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child.

Jailing Lowde for 21 months, Judge Kate Buckingham told Lowde his crimes amounted to a “manipulative course of conduct”, which had “an element of callousness”.

She said: “There was a degree of planning and grooming.”

Lowde will also be made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

Sex beast who abused Bradford teenager

Capture

A sexual predator has been jailed for seven years for sexually abusing a teenager with learning difficulties while forcing her to dress in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ bondage kit.

Joseph Maxwell Spencer, 35, ruthlessly exploited the trusting Bradford girl to gratify his own pleasures, said the judge who sentenced him.

Spencer, who had been held in Leeds Prison for a year, wept loudly as he was yesterday led down to the cells at Bradford Crown Court.

He was convicted by the jury of causing or inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity and eight charges of making indecent photos of her.

During the trial, the jury was shown photos Spencer had taken of the bound and gagged girl posing indecently in a red and black basque.

Two film clips showed him having sex with her as she cried out in distress.

Judge Peter Benson said the girl, who had severe learning difficulties, behaved like a child of seven or eight when she was 15.

He told Spencer: “You exploited her vulnerability in a ruthless way and acquired a bondage kit based on the film Fifty Shades of Grey, and she was forced to dress up in it.

It consisted of a gag, handcuffs, a red and black basque and a whip.”

Although some of the photos may have been with the girl’s consent, Spencer had inveigled his way into her affections to gratify his sexual pleasures.

He tormented her on video while having sex with her when she was bound and gagged, the judge said.

When police searched his home computer they found indecent pictures downloaded from his mobile phone of the girl dressed in a red and black basque, while handcuffed, with a leash around her neck, wearing a gag and having a rope tied round her arms

“It was a most disgusting picture and you were acting with a degree of brutality which I am sure the jury found quite shocking,” added Judge Benson.

During the trial, the court heard that Spencer ordered the Fifty Shades of Grey bondage kit on the internet after watching the film.

He was arrested after one of the girl’s schoolteachers saw him walking hand-in-hand with her and police found the photos and film clips on his computer.

Judge Benson made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order banning Spencer from approaching or contacting the girl and from having unsupervised contact with children.

He must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Oil worker admits downloading indecent images of children while looking for porn to take offshore

A north-east oil worker has avoided jail after he admitted downloading thousands of indecent images of children while looking for porn to take offshore.

Alan Sutherland appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday to be sentenced having previously admitted downloading a 2,440 pictures over the course of five months.

He further admitted being in possession of three indecent videos of children on March 10 last year – the day he was caught for the illicit images by police.

The offences were carried out while he lived at Allandale Gardens, Kintore.

As officers searched the property, the 60-year-old told officers it would have been “purely accidental” if they discovered any illegal material on his devices.

But yesterday fiscal depute David Bernard said he had deliberately downloaded the material while searching for pornography online to take offshore.

He said: “The accused stated he downloaded porn from web sites of young teenage girls but insisted he was only attracted to girls aged 16 or over.

“He would download the images onto one of three flash drives and used them for his own sexual gratification.”

He said the images were forensically examined and were mainly of boys and girls ranging from infants to age 14.

He said 947 of the obscene images were classed as being at level A – the highest end of the scale.

Representing the first offender, solicitor Les Green said his client fully accepted what he had done and was now going to need psychological help.

He said: “He accepts that he had been viewing adult porn and these came onto his machine and he saw it. Having seen it he was drawn to it and accepts that he did look further.”

Sheriff Annella Cowan placed him on the joint sex offenders’ programme, and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next year. Sutherland, of 144 Midstocket Road, Aberdeen, was also put on the sex offenders’ register for three years.

Sex pest jailed

THREE vulnerable Oldham girls had their lives made a misery by the persistent harassment of a man old enough to be their grandfather.

Nigel Rostron (61), acted more like TV’s Benny Hill character, rubbing himself against them and trying to force kisses on them.

Rostron, of Lower Lime Road, Oldham had faced a trial after pleading not guilty to sixteen counts of indecent or sexual assault. When one of the victims became too unwell to give evidence, prosecutors accepted a guilty plea to a single harassment charge.

Jailing him for 12 months, Judge Maurice Greene told him: “You persistently harassed these girls and behaved in a manner that made them extremely uncomfortable and utterly miserable.

“They were serious acts against vulnerable young girls, and only immediate custody can be justified.”

Harriet Tighe, prosecuting, said Rostron had pinned one girl down while he forced kisses on her. He pushed another against a wall while trying to do the same.

He told another he could show her a good time and called her a “boring bitch” when she rejected him.

Man sentenced to 10 years at Norwich Crown Court for sex offences

Adam-CASEY

A 45-year-old Norfolk man has today (Tuesday 12th April 2016) been jailed for 10 years after admitting sexually assaulting a boy.

Adam John Casey, of Crow Hall Green in Gorleston has been sentenced at Norwich Crown Court after previously admitting five sexual offences against a child under the age of 13.

Norfolk Constabulary’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) launched an investigation in January 2015 after the alleged abuse was brought to their attention.

Casey was arrested on 23rd January 2015 and when initially questioned by officers denied any offences.

He was subsequently charged with two counts of inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity and three counts of assaulting a boy under 13 by touching.

He was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for the two incitement charges and a total of three years for the three assault charges – to run concurrently.

The offences took place in Norfolk between 2013 and 2014.

The victim cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Man avoids jail over child sexual offences

A Motherwell man who stalked primary school age girls and sexually assaulted one of the youngsters has avoided a jail sentence.

Keith Beverage was instead given a community payback order at Hamilton Sheriff Court and will be supervised closely for two years.

Beverage (33), formerly of Glen Tower and now Logans Road, must also carry out 250 hours of unpaid community work within 12 months and will be on the sex offenders’ register for two years.

He was found guilty after trial of placing his hand under the clothing of a girl aged nine and touching her body. The assault happened at Woodside Tower, Motherwell, on October 6.

Beverage was also convicted of following the girl and two other girls, aged five and eight, “behaving in a sexually inappropriate manner”, making gestures towards them and putting up his hands in a bid to stop the youngest girl.

Beverage, who had denied the charges, was told by Sheriff Thomas Millar that the community payback order was an alternative to a prison sentence and was warned he must comply with the conditions.

Babysitter jailed for rape of boy 40 years ago

harper

A sex attacker has been jailed for eight years after being convicted of raping a young boy 40 years ago.

Nigel Harper was in his late teens in 1975 when he was babysitting.

The 57-year-old,who worked as a barman in a social club in Wolverhampton, abused the boy before ordering him not to tell anyone or he would ‘be in trouble’.

Harper, of Ingleby Gardens, Whitmore Reans, was convicted of raping a child under 13 after trial last June

Judge Amjad Nawaz said: “This was an offence committed against a young child.

“The serious aggravating feature in this case, apart from the age of your victim, is that you were in a position of trust.

“You were babysitting the child. You were experimenting. You told him that you were playing a game that involved removing clothes.”

The court then heard the graphic details of his abuse.

Mr Nawaz added: “You stopped when you realised you were doing something wrong. But you told him not to tell anybody or he would be in trouble.

“This offence happened in 1975. I have factored in that you were young yourself when you committed this offence.”

Binley man sentenced for possessing indecent images of children under 13

Carlo Pellow - Coventry

A Coventry man has admitted possessing indecent photographs of young children.

Carlo Pellow pleaded guilty to possession of images of children who were aged under 13 years old which fell into category B, the second worst category for the offence.

The photos were found on a Tesco Hudl tablet and the 35-year-old, of Abbeydale Close, Binley, was sentenced at Coventry Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.

He was given a community order, fined £50 and ordered to pay £185 court costs and a victim surcharge of £60.

The tablet was also forfeited and will be destroyed.

Former NHS worker caught with hundreds of child sexual abuse images

A former NHS worker caught with hundreds of child sexual abuse images on his computer has been spared jail.

Patrick Gladding was arrested after police raided his home near Horncastle in September 2014 and seized computer equipment.

Phil Howes, prosecuting at Lincoln Crown Court, said Gladding made admissions about what he had been looking at.

Checks on his computer subsequently revealed he had downloaded almost 1,000 indecent images of children including 179 of the most serious type.

Gladding, 58, who at the time lived at The Cottages, Salmonby, and now lives in Fareham, Hants, admitted possession of 970 pornographic images of children and possession of a further four cartoon-style prohibited images of children.

He was given an eight month jail sentence suspended for two years with two years of supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and given a sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Simon Hirst, passing sentence, told him: “The information I have on you is very helpful. It is plain that you now have an awareness of the consequences of your offending.

“You have taken responsibility for your offending and made efforts to reduce your risk by seeking counselling and help.

“This matter is so serious that there has to be a custodial sentence but I can suspend it.”

Michael Cranmer-Brown, in mitigation, said Gladding has now retired from the NHS but when working made an important contribution in the area of mental health.

Mr Cranmer-Brown said: “He has given a lot to society. He bitterly regrets what he did.

“He has besmirched his good name and dragged his family through the mire.”

Rhyl sex attacker who dragged girl into alleyway told police he ‘only wanted a hug’

attacker (1)

A sex attacker who dragged a teenage girl into an alleyway in Rhyl later told police that he only wanted a hug.

Anthony Craig John Williams admitted kidnapping, sexually and physically assaulting the girl in the early hours of Saturday November 7 last year.

The victim bravely fought back and kicked and punched him before he eventually fled.

But the teen, who had been walking home alone ended up with two breaks to her ankle which she sustained when she fell during the attack.

Williams, 22, of Queen Street, Rhyl, was jailed for two years by a judge at Mold Crown Court heard today.

Prosecuting barrister Karl Scholz said that CCTV footage from November 7 showed the defendant following the victim, sometimes hiding behind a car while watching her.

As she approached an alleyway “he grabbed her from behind.”

She felt one arm around her stomach and a hand around her neck and she was dragged backwards into the alleyway.

“She was at the time leaving a voice message on a friend’s phone and the panic in her voice and her screaming could be heard on that recording,” Mr Scholz said.

The victim bravely began to fight him off by elbowing him in the stomach and kicking him a number of times.

He let her go and she punched him.

At that point he ran away and she was left crying on the floor while passers-by raised the alarm.

The victim was left with grazes to her stomach, both elbows, legs and two fractures to her right ankle.

Williams was arrested on November 11 and during one police interview, he told officers that he just wanted a hug and had followed her because “other lads get hugs off girls.”

He also described himself as dangerous and indicated that he needed help.

Duncan Bould, defending, said that his client, a young man of good character, admitted what he had done, showed genuine remorse, and would avail himself of any assistance he was offered.

After he recognised himself on the footage he had admitted what he had done

The judge, Mr Recorder Timothy Petts, said that the victim had been terrified throughout the ordeal.

She had been screaming and the defendant knew what he was doing was wrong.

He touched her sexually, she fought back and kicked him and he eventually let go.

“She punched you, you ran away and she fell and fractured her ankle in two places,” he said.

The attack had a “massive effect” on her life and family.

“You are a high risk to the public of serious sexual offending against feamles,” he said.

Williams was also made the subject of a life time sexual harm prevention order which orders him he is not contact, communicate or approach his victim in any way.

Williams, who had no previous convictions, was also ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for ten years.

Plymouth teenager to be treated after ‘Facebook sex’ with child

555555555

A TEENAGER incited a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity over a social networking website, a court heard.

Stephen Wooster, aged 19, had explicit conversations with the girl on Facebook over several months. He also persuaded another girl to send him indecent pictures of herself.

Judge Graham Cottle, sitting at Plymouth Crown Court, said Wooster needed treatment.

He gave him a two-year community order under probation supervision with the Thames Valley Sex Offender Programme.

Wooster, of Bridwell Road, Weston Mill, admitted causing or inciting a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity between January and May last year.

He also pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing and making indecent images of a child.

Andrew Maitland, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Wooster and the girl had “highly explicit conversations” on Facebook.

He added their dialogue referred to full sex.

Judge Cottle said the girl “was reciprocating” in the conversations.

Mr Maitland added that Wooster asked another younger girl to send explicit images of herself over email, which she did. Judge Cottle said: “The view I take at this point is to deal with this by means of delivering the treatment you need.”

MUM posed as her 12-year-old daughter to snare Facebook pervert

hulme

A MUM posed as her 12-year-old daughter to snare a father-of-five Facebook pervert grooming the schoolgirl for sexual pleasure.

The concerned parent had taken over her daughter’s account when Michael Hulme arranged to meet what he thought was a 12-year-old girl at Hanford Park.

But the 43-year-old fled when he saw a group of people waiting for him and realised he had been rumbled.

Police arrested Hulme by tracing his registration number and discovered he had also tried to meet a second 12-year-old girl at Bucknall Park.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Hulme had exchanged sexually-explicit messages and photographs with the girls.

Now he has been jailed for three years and eight months for his crimes.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard Hulme tried to entice two 12-year-old girls to meet up with him after grooming them on the internet.

The 43-year-old used Facebook and WhatsApp to try to lure the girls to two Potteries parks.

But his plan failed when one of the girl’s mums became aware of what was going on because she had set up her daughter’s Facebook account to receive all notifications.

She alerted the police, kept the conversation going and Hulme asked to meet at Hanford Park.

But Hulme soon realised he had been set up when the girl’s relatives were there and he was arrested later that night.

It was then discovered he had groomed another 12-year-old on WhatsApp.

The messages he sent to that youngster were more sexual in nature and he exchanged intimate photographs with the schoolgirl.

Prosecutor Ian Ball told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that Hulme used an alias of John Holmes when talking to the girl on Facebook.

The girl’s mum took on her daughter’s character and told him she was aged 12 but the chat still became sexual.

He arranged to meet the ‘girl’ on January 21 – and asked her to wear a short top and whether she would lift it up.

Hulme told police he was not thinking straight.

In the second incident, Hulme pretended to be a 17-year-old college student called Mike Jones. He exchanged intimate pictures with the girl.

She refused to meet him at Bucknall Park and the nearby Esso garage.

Hulme, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two offences of meeting or attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and intending to pervert the course of public justice.

Jailing Hulme for three years and eight months, Judge Timothy Smith said: “There was talk of penetrative sexual activity with one girl. Fortunately she did not attend that meeting but you did and you wanted to meet her and asked why she had not turned up.

“At the time you also, under a different name, started to engage another 12-year-old into your own sexual net.

“It was only because of the wisdom and presence of her mother in setting up the Facebook account that your activity came to light. She took on the character of her daughter and continued in conversations with you having notified the police about what was happening.

“It is clear these became increasingly sexual in a similar way to the conversations you were having with the other girl.

“The police were there at the meeting point. You had arranged to meet up with the girl. But for the fact somebody else happened to be at the scene you would have been arrested there.”

Hulme will be on the sex offenders’ register for the rest of his life and is the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further order.

Three victims of horrific sexual abuse at the hands of a Sheffield NHS worker have been praised for their bravery.

Owen Smith, aged 50, who abused his position as a mental health worker to rape and sexually assault his victims, was branded ‘despicable’ and ‘disgraceful’ by a senior officer today.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how Smith, of Hawley Street, Sheffield, used his position within the NHS to gain the trust of his victims, who were vulnerable teenage girls and young women.

The court heard how Smith plied his victims with drink and drugs, used an NHS company car to talk to one of the victims and used his work phone to contact them.

Smith was found guilty of five counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of trafficking within the UK.

He was found not guilty of one count of trafficking within the UK.

Smith has been remanded in custody to be sentenced in May.

A man from Bacup has been told that he could be facing a prison sentence after being caught with indecent images of children.

Matthew Kurpil, 24, has admitted to having digital pictures depicting the most serious levels of child abuse which include adults raping children on his computer equipment.

And Kupril, who lived in the town at the time of his arrest but is now from Windsor Road, Oldham, also pleaded guilty to a separate offence of making indecent images, relating to four less-serious files.

He also admitted to possession of further photos showing children in naked poses or similar when he appeared at Burnley Crown Court.

Bailing him until April 19 for pre-sentence reports, Judge Beverley Lunt said all sentencing options, including custody, would be considered.

Jail for sex offender who preyed on vulnerable schoolgirl

burns

A MAN is starting four years in jail for sexual offences that contributed to a schoolgirl becoming suicidal.

A York jury heard that police twice warned John James Burns that the girl was 14, but he ignored them and for months persisted in having a relationship with her.

In December 2014, he filmed the girl and himself having sex together, and had sex with her on two more occasions.

Jailing him for four years, the Honorary Recorder of York, Judge Paul Batty QC, told Burns: “She was a troubled child. She was vulnerable. I am satisfied you took full advantage of that situation for your own sexual gratification.”

He also put Burns on the sex offenders register for life and made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order restricting his behaviour after his release from jail for the rest of his life.

Burns, 21, formerly of Fostergate, Selby, denied three charges of sexual activity with a child but was convicted by the jury last month. He pleaded guilty to having a sexual video of a child.

In a victim impact statement the girl said: “I was taking drugs in and out of school, I couldn’t understand what had happened. I was aggressive, angry at everyone around me. My personality changed. ….. I have tried to kill myself two or three times. “

Chris Dunn, for the prosecution, gave details of other problems that the girl had.

Detective Constable Peter Cooper, of North Yorkshire Police, said: “Burns engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl, believing he would not be discovered. It was only when the relationship became known on social media that he tried to cover his tracks. He continued to deny the offence throughout the court case, despite significant evidence to the contrary, forcing the victim to go through the ordeal of being cross-examined in court.

“The sentence today sends a clear message about the seriousness of his offending, and will ensure that the public are now protected from his despicable behaviour.”

For Burns, Rodney Fern said he had helped the girl to get off drugs and the girl had told police he had seemed to be a “reasonable boy”. He said Burns still claims the girl made the sexual video.

Since the trial he had moved to Scarborough in a bid to start a new life and was making efforts to get work and to help others. He had hoped to go into the Army but his convictions had ended that.

Lincolnshire paedophile jailed for 26 years in “worst case ever seen”

john-mcpherson

A paedophile who carried out an horrific sex attack on a young girl has been jailed for 26 years at Lincoln Crown Court.

Judge John Pini QC sentenced John MacPherson under a rarely used section of the 2003 Criminal Justice Act which means he will not be freed, as is normal, when he has served half of his sentence and instead the Parole Board will decide when he is safe to be released.

Judge Pini told MacPherson on April 13: “In 34 years working in the criminal justice system this is about the worst case I have seen. It really is shocking.

“You corrupted her. I have no doubt you are a determined paedophile. You are in complete denial.

“I shudder to think what damage you have done. She will bear emotional scarring for the rest of her life.

“When you have served half of your sentence you will not be automatically released. You will be referred to the parole board.

“It may be that they will decide it is never safe for you to be released and you will serve the entire custodial term.”

MacPherson, 61, of Long Road, Tydd Gote near Sutton Bridge, denied:

  • Three charges of assault by penetration of a child under the age of 13

  • Seven charges of sexual assault between July and October 2015 together

  • Taking an indecent photograph of as child

  • Causing a child to watch a sexual act

  • Causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

The jury took less than two hours to convict him of all charges.

The court was told he had a previous conviction in 1986 for having unlawful sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Mary Loram, prosecuting, said the offences came to light in October last year when the girl’s mother took her to hospital.

Doctors discovered an object lodged inside young girl. She subsequently underwent a two and a half hour operation to remove it.

The girl revealed she had been subjected to horrific abuse. Police inquiries revealed that MacPherson had indecent photographs of children on his computer and had search the internet looking for child sexual abuse images

She said: “He is entrenched with a certain mentality. He associates with those who are also interested in children in such a way.”

Stuart Lody, defending, said: “In terms of personal mitigation there is really none apart from the fact that he has lost everything.”

Prolific paedophile jailed for child sex offences

wise

A prolific online groomer of children has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Gary Wiseman, 51, of Queens Way in St Neots, pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences relating to young girls earlier this year.

Last year police received information that Wiseman may have been in possession of indecent images of children, and on May 14, officers attended his home address and arrested him.

He was interviewed at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough and admitted chatting sexually to children online and being in receipt of indecent images of children over a period spanning the last two to three years.

Officers from the High-Tec Crime Unit (HTCU) forensically examined the contents of Wiseman’s mobile phone which revealed a large amount of indecent images of children.

Wiseman openly admitted to officers that he targeted children online and encouraged them to send sexual photos and videos to him, he then would forward some of these on to other men.

In interview he said how he was “really very sorry to everyone that this has affected. I’m ashamed of myself, I should have stopped but curiosity just caused me to keep going back to them.”

On January 21 this year he was charged with:

  • Six counts of causing or inciting a child aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity

  • One count of causing or inciting a child aged under 13 to engage in sexual activity

  • One count of causing a child to watch a sexual act

  • Two counts of distributing indecent images of children

  • One count making 229 indecent images of children.

He pleaded guilty to the charges at Peterborough Crown Court on March 22.

Today, Wiseman appeared at Huntingdon Crown Court and was sentenced to eight years in prison, and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Newark man downloaded indecent images of children

new

A man was blackmailed out of £1,000 by another online paedophile who sent him sickening images of child abuse images

Christopher Ivermee, of Vernon Avenue, Newark, escaped jail at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday despite downloading 91 indecent images of children.

The prosecutor, Mr Gareth Gimson, said some were categorised as the worst type of images.

The court heard that Ivermee, 49, was contacted by what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl on an online forum who sent him explicit pictures.

The 13-year-old girl turned out to be a man from South Wales who then blackmailed Ivermee out of £1,000, Mr Gimson told the court.

The man has since been convicted of blackmail and possession and distribution of indecent images.

Police raided Ivermee’s home in June and seized an iPhone 6, a computer and a memory stick, Mr Gimson said.

They found 81 photographs on the memory stick, a photograph and two videos on his computer and seven photographs on his iPhone.

Some of the images on the memory stick were of the most serious category of abuse, Mr Gimson said.

The court heard that Ivermee was convicted in 1995, when he was 28, of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl.

Ivermee admitted four counts of making indecent images of children between July 2014 and June last year at an earlier hearing.

He was given a three-year community order and must complete a sex offenders’ programme.

A sexual harm prevention order lasting five years was also made by the judge.

Mr Martin Elwick, defending, said his client downloaded a modest number of images compared with most cases of a similar nature.

He said Ivermee had not distributed any images nor sought to act out any of his fantasies.

“To say he has learnt his lesson would be an understatement,” Mr Elwick said.

“This started to unravel in June, when he was blackmailed, and since then he has been treated for clinical depression.”

Judge Michael Stokes QC, Recorder of Nottingham, said Ivermee had looked at images of children of a similar age to the one he was convicted of abusing in 1995.

“But the number of images in this case, compared with most, is very small,” he said.

Darren English – Norton Subcourse

A 44-year-old man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two girls following a trial at Norwich Crown Court.

Darren Alexander English, of The Street, Norton Subcourse, was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault yesterday (Tuesday 12 April).

English was accused of assaulting two victims; three counts related to incidents involving one victim in the South Norfolk area between 1 September 2013 and 17 July 2014, the other two counts related to incidents involving the other victim in the same area but between 20 May and 16 July 2014.

He was convicted of four counts but found not guilty of one offence between 20 May and 16 July.

Norfolk Constabulary’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) launched an investigation in July 2014 after being contacted by the parents of one of the victims.

During police interview English denied the allegations put to him. He was later charged with the five counts of ‘sexual assault against a girl under the age of 13’ relating to the two victims.

Detective Constable Tracy Billing of the CAIU, said: “The fact English pleaded not guilty to all the offences meant the victims had to relive their ordeals within the court realm.

“It has been an extremely stressful experience for them and their families and we would like to commend them for the courage they have shown.

“The Constabulary takes such reports very seriously and has supported the victims throughout the investigation.”

English has been released on bail and will be sentenced on 12 May.

AN elderly Oldbury widower downloaded sickening indecent images of children as young as six, a court heard.

When police raided the home of seventy-one-year-old Philip Cooper, they also found images of extreme pornography involving animals.

Simon Rippon, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court police had acted on information received and seized the pensioner’s computer.

They discovered the father of two had downloaded a number of still images and movies including 13 in the worst category.

Cooper, of Barston Road, admitted making indecent images of children and also possessing extreme pornography.

He was placed on supervision with a condition he attends the sex offenders programme, told he must register as a sex offender for five years and ordered to pay £340 costs.

Judge James Burbidge QC described the images as “nasty and horrible” and told him it was sad to see a man his age before a court for the first time.

He added, “By looking at these images it tends to create a market for them.”

The judge said there was no doubt he led a “lonely and isolated life” but he had disgraced his good name.
