Pervert convicted in court after data deletion

vi

A 22-year-old under a sexual offences prevention order has admitted deleting the internet browsing history on his Blackberry.

Jamie Vinton-Kennard, of The Crescent, appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with an act prohibited by a sexual offences prevention order.

He committed the offences between June 26 and September 12 last year.

They contravened the five year order imposed by Oxford Crown Court in June last year after Vinton-Kennard was convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child under 16.

The court heard that during an unannounced visit to Vinton-Kennard, his Blackberry was checked and it showed the browsing history had been deleted and that the phone was set to continuously delete the history.

Defending Andrew Craske said Vinton-Kennard, who lives with his grandparents and was on the autistic spectrum, had not realised his phone was set automatically to delete its browsing history.

“He accepts he should have made sure that was not the situation so nothing was deleted,” he added.

Vinton-Kennard was given a conditional discharge for 24 months, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge. His Blackberry had been seized by police.

Paedophile thanks police for their sensitivity after being caught with indecent images of kids aged as young as 8 being abused

A paedophile has been given an 18-month prison sentence suspended for two years on condition he goes on a sex offender treatment programme with two years supervision.

Giles Thomas Paxton was also made subject to a sexual offences prevention order indefinitely and put on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.

York Crown Court heard Paxton told the police he was grateful for the way they dealt with him when they uncovered his interest in child abuse, York Crown Court heard.

Reginald Bosomworth, prosecuting, said officers found 1,130 sexual pictures and films of children in a raid on Paxton’s home on November 12, 2013.

They included images of girls aged as young as eight being abused. Nearly 200 were in the most depraved category.

When Paxton was charged with 20 offences of possessing indecent images of children some months later, he told police: “I am deeply ashamed and sorry for what I have done. I am thankful for the help and support I have been able to get and the sensitive way the police have handled the case.”

His solicitor advocate Liam Hassan said since the raid, he had started counselling to deal with his sexual offending and had taken part in a psychologist’s study into why sex offenders break the law.

“He is dedicated to change,” he said.

Paxton, 33, of Milner Street, Acomb, pleaded guilty to 20 offences of possessing indecent images of children and was given an 18-month prison sentence suspended for two years on condition he went on a sex offender treatment programme and did two years’ supervision. He was also made subject to a sexual offences prevention order indefinitely and put on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.

Recorder Benjamin Nolan QC said his offences had covered several years.

“If you and people like you didn’t get off on this sort of media, then the children would be spared the pain and indignity and no doubt life changing experience that they suffered…You might just as well abuse the children yourself,” he told Paxton.

Mr Hassan said Paxton suffered from depression and was likely to lose his job as a result of his convictions.

Court told of ‘sickening’ abuse

A park attendant who sexually abused two girls was warned by a judge yesterday to expect a substantial jail sentence.

Some of the offences took place in quiet huts in Glasgow parks where John Kerr worked.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that one of the victims, now a 31-year-old married woman, wanted to die as the man molested her.

The other victim, now 29, is still undergoing psychological counselling.

Lady Cosgrove told 59-year-old Kerr, a father of five, that he had committed a ”sickening catalogue of the most gross form of abuse”.

The judge could not jail Kerr yesterday because no pre-sentence reports were available. However, she said: ”There is no doubt a substantial prison sentence will be imposed.”

Kerr, of Buckton Road, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, was refused bail and remanded in custody until September 12 when he will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The victims sobbed in the back of the court as Kerr pleaded guilty to the offences which occurred in various parks and at his former homes in Katewell Avenue and Achamore Road, both Drumchapel, between January, 1978 and August, 1984.

The charges said he acted in a shameless indecent manner towards the girls and had sexual intercourse with them.

Mr Ronald Clancy, prosecuting, said the shameless conduct offences were frequent and repeated over a number of years.

He had intercourse with the girls on a weekly basis . Mr Clancy said the victims did not encourage Kerr’s sexual interest in them.

The victim who is now a married woman ”detested” what he did to her. Mr Clancy said: ”She wanted to die while the abuse was taking place.

He told her not to tell anyone about what had happened and if she did no one would believe her and it would affect her mother’s health and might even kill her.”

When she was being abused, the other victim felt she could not prevent it. Eventually she went to the police.

Tip-off led to police raid on Broughty Ferry paedophile’s computer

A 62-year-old Broughty Ferry man was found with almost 300 indecent images and 26 indecent videos of children, along with almost 3,500 extreme pornographic images and 76 extreme pornographic videos, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.

James Adams, Claypotts Road, admitted possessing the indecent images between December 5 2007 and July 25 2013.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing images depicting adult females engaged in sexual activities with animals between March 28 2011 and July 25 2013.

Adams, who has no previous convictions, was discovered after police received a tip-off that indecent images of children had been downloaded by a router linked to his address.

They searched his home and Adams admitted he “had been looking at porn but I didn’t think it was illegal”.

Adams, a retired civil servant with Durham County Council, later told police he was addicted to pornography and started looking at child abuse images five to six years previously.

He said although he used his wife’s computer tower to view the images, she was not aware of his child abuse activity.

A total of 293 indecent images of children were found, showing girls and boys between the ages of five and 17.

Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence until February 9 and granted him bail.

Man, 48 found guilty of indecent assault on a girl aged under 13 years old

A MAN was remanded in custody yesterday after being found guilty of one charge of indecently assaulting a girl under 13.

Mark Garnett, 48, was cleared of two counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault on the underage girl.

He also put tape over her mouth and made her stand on one leg, a court heard.

Garnett, of Panteg Terrace, Newbridge, was found guilty of the indecent assault charge by a jury at Newport Crown Court. Judge Tom Crowther remanded Garnett in custody to be sentenced on January 30. Garnett had told police the sexual allegations against him were “all lies”, the jury heard.

Officers interviewed him several times about the allegations but he denied raping the child and indecently assaulting her.

He told police: “I have never ever molested a child. I have never ever had intercourse with that kid. I have never ever played with that kid.”

The court heard that the girl had reportedly seen adults having sexual intercourse during her childhood.

The jury heard that Garnett had one previous conviction for shoplifting dating back to 1984 for which he had received a conditional discharge.

Man guilty of making indecent photographs of children at his mother’s house

A man who accessed child abuse images on a laptop he kept at his mother’s home in Butleigh is due to be finally sentenced by Somerset Magistrates next month.

Jack Martin Bayer downloaded 10 indecent photographs of children, and when police tracked down his criminal activity online they raised his mother’s address.

They found the laptop in a bedroom which he used while staying with her, and when he was arrested he confessed what he had done.

Bayer, aged 26, of Jocelyn Drive, Wells, pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child at a previous appearance before Somerset Magistrates.

He also admitted a further allegation of making a further seven indecent images of children on various dates between March 31 and May 5, 2013.

The court heard that photographs had been classified as five being in the lowest category one; one photo in category two; three photos in category three and one in category four out of a total of five categories.

The case had been adjourned for a psychiatric and pre-sentence reports to be prepared saying that all options would be considered including a prison sentence.

When the defendant appeared before the court at Yeovil again defending solicitor Michaela Rose said that following difficulties in obtaining a psychiatric report arrangements had now been made for her client to be interviewed by a mental health worker and a subsequent report to be produced to the court.

The magistrates agreed to adjourn the case again until February 6 when they ordered the defendant must be sentenced.

Until his next court appearance Bayer was released on unconditional bail.

Sex attacker gets community order

she

A 21-YEAR-OLD sexually assaulted a schoolgirl and an 18-year-old, a court heard.

Shea Linnell, aka Essa Linnell of Bramble Close, Basford, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court after he was found guilty of two sexual assaults. He was of previous good character.

He sexually touched a 13-year-old on the chest at a house on the Broxtowe Estate in January 2008. He denied anything untoward happened.

Then last March, while on bail, there was a sexual incident with an 18-year-old who was drunk and unconscious in a car.

Judge Tony Mitchell said Linnell would have to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years, attend a sex offender treatment programme and be subject to a community order for three years.

December 2009

JUDGES have refused to quash the conviction of a man for sexual assault after lawyers claimed an emotional outburst meant he had an unfair trial.

Shea Rheman Linnell, 21, of Bramble Close, Beeston, was convicted of sexual assault by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court on July this year.

He was cleared of a charge of assault by penetration.

As jury members were leaving court on July 6, a member of the public shouted from the public gallery and said: “Your Honour, are you not going to let them know the rest of the stuff. They need to know about July 17.”

She then started to cry and the only audible words were “no justice”.

Lawyers for Linnell claimed the trial judge should have given jurors directions to ignore the outburst.

But at a hearing at London’s Court of Appeal, Lord Justice Moses said the trial judge had been placed in a difficult position, and to have addressed the jury might have drawn more attention to what had happened. He said the jury had heard nothing about any events on July 17 – the alleged offences took place in mid-May 2007 – and there was stronger evidence against Linnell on the sexual assault charge than that of sexual assault by penetration.

The court heard that Linnell, who was 19 at the time, was alleged to have twice fondled a woman, squeezing her breast and later molesting her.

Linnell is yet to be sentenced for the sexual assault.

Man sentenced for 19 counts of sexual activity with a child

michael_rowan

A 23-year-old man was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to sexual activity with a child.

Michael Rowen, of Hart Close in Banbury, pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court on 3 November to:

  • 19 counts of sexual activity with a child

  • One count of inciting a child to engage in pornography

  • One count of possessing indecent images

He was yesterday (14/1) sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and given a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for 10 years. He was placed on the Sex Offender Register for life.

The offences relate to three schoolgirls and were committed between April 2009 and February 2010.

Investigating officer Det Con Rebecca McLeod from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit in Banbury said: “The victims in this case have shown considerable bravery in coming forward.

“The victims have described their teenage years as having been ‘lost’ as a result of what Michael Rowan did to them.

“Michael Rowan manipulated these young girls for his own sexual gratification. I hope that this sentence will provide each of them with some closure and enable them to move forward with their lives.”

Worthing man jailed for raping young girl

18

A Worthing man has been sentenced for raping a young girl.

Thomas Walker, 22, of Orkney Court, Worthing, appeared on bail at Brighton Crown Court on Tuesday (January 13) and was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment.

He was found guilty after a trial last July of five offences against the girl, then aged 6 between 2003 and 2004; one offence of rape; two of sexual assault; one of indecent assault; and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

He will be a registered sex offender for 10 years on his release.

Walker, who was between 11 and 12 years old at the time, raped the girl during a hide-and-seek game at a Worthing house.

He then sexually abused her on several separate occasions and continued to sexually abuse her over a period of years

The victim, whose identity is protected by law but is not his relative, said she was then sexually abused by Walker on separate occasions over about five or six years, although she could not remember them all. She said she was also abused by other boys.

The victim started to realise what was happening was wrong after getting sexual education lessons at school.

She eventually told her mother in 2012, and was “angry” for not having told anyone about it before.

Prosecuting, Kris Berlevy said of the victim: “She had the courage – because that is what it must have been – she had the courage to say the truth and then come here and say it again.”

The victim finally told her mother, who contacted the police, in 2012.

Detective Constable Sarah Lovett said: “The young girl suffered the effects of Walker’s offending, directly and indirectly, for several years, but we are glad to have been able to help bring him to justice now.

“We particularly admired the dignified and courageous way in which the victim faced the task of giving evidence and facing cross-examination during Walker’s trial.”

Sexual predator who messaged young girls online asking them to meet him for sex is jailed

portslade

A sexual predator who messaged young girls online asking them to meet him for sex and offering them drugs has been jailed for six years.

Dean Thompson, 24, of Hamilton Close, Portslade, contacted girls aged eleven to fifteen over Facebook, Kik, Skype and by text, offering to supply two with cocaine.

He was first arrested in 2012 after a 12-year-old girl reported she had been contacted by him for sex, but insufficient evidence at the time meant he was not prosecuted until another victim came forward in 2013.

Thompson even contacted one young girl while on bail as police uncovered several more victims who had been contacted since 2010, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

He was jailed on Monday at Lewes Crown Court by Judge Guy Anthony, who also handed him a life-time Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO), restricting his access to computers and children.

He must also sign onto the sex offenders’ register for life.

Thompson had admitted three counts of attempting to meet a child under 16 years, two counts of inciting a girl under 16 years to watch something sexual, five counts of inciting five girls under the age of 16 to engage in sexual behaviour and two counts of offering to supply class A drugs to a girl under 16 years old.

Detective Constable Leianne Blampied said the case served as a warning about the dangers of the web.

She said: “This case is a further reminder to young people and those looking after them to be very careful about engaging in personal web contact with anyone you do not know.”

Sussex Police advises youngsters never to give out personal details, photographs or any other identifying material; not to take people at face value; and never to arrange to meet someone from the internet without taking a responsible adult.

The force recommends that children only use chat services targeted at their own age group.

Aberdeen man admits downloading thousands of child abuse images

aber

A man has been warned he faces jail after downloading more than 10,000 child abuse images and almost 64 hours worth of footage of children being abused.

Christopher Grant took the illicit material from an online site while at his home in Aberdeen between September 11 and October 29, 2013.

Dozens of the pictures were rated “level 5″ by prosecutors – the most serious on the scale of child abuse images.

The subjects were mostly girls, ranging in age from as young as six months to 15 years.

When officers raided his house, Grant said the illegal material was his and that he was the only person responsible for the crime.

Yesterday the 31-year-old appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted a charge of making the indecent images or pseudo-images of children at 39 Braeside Terrace in the city.

He had been facing two further charges of having indecent images in his possession and distributing the images between December 29, 2011, and October 30, 2013. His not guilty pleas were accepted by the Crown.

Fiscal depute Gavin Letford said a search warrant was granted for Grant’s address on October 30, 2013.

During the raid officers recovered a Dell laptop computer and a hard drive.

Grant was then taken to Queen Street police station to be interviewed where he told officers he had been downloading the illegal images via a peer-to-peer website.

Analysis of the computer equipment found 10,566 child abuse images on his laptop and videos totalling 64 hours and 47 minutes.

Mr Letford said “the majority” of the images were at level one – the lowest end of the scale – however 75 were classed as level five, 295 were at level four and 2,138 were classed as level three.

Most of the videos were between levels one and four with seven films at level five.

The court heard the illicit images found on the hard drive depicted girls aged between four and nine.

Sheriff William Summers deferred sentence on Grant for background reports to be carried out into his character, but told his solicitor, Gail Goodfellow: “I find it hard to see how he can avoid a custodial sentence.”

Grant was placed on the sex offenders’ register and will be sentenced next month.

Tip-off catches paedophile with child sexual abuse videos rated at most indecent level – No prison

Phillip Pocklington

A HULL man has been caught with hundreds of indecent videos and images of children after an investigation by a national crime body.

Phillip Pocklington, 54, was found with 172 videos, 79 of which were deemed to fall within Category A – the most serious level.

Prosecutor Glenn Parsons told Hull Crown Court yesterday how an address in Merlin Close, Sutton, east Hull, had come to the attention of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) on December 21, 2013.

Mr Parsons explained that an internet connection from that address, where Pocklington lived, was being used to access indecent images of children and animals.

He said: “On March 9, 2014, he (Pocklington) was at home when officers from Humberside Police arrived. They searched the premises and found computer hardware.”

As well as the videos, which were found in digital folders, officers recovered 5,405 indecent photographs that had been downloaded, viewed and then deleted.

Mr Parsons said: “Mr Pocklington was arrested. He accepted that he did use a peer-to-peer sharing website.

“He said he did come across photographs of children when using the website, but deleted them.”

Pocklington, who was of previous good character, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court on December 19 to 12 counts of possessing indecent images and extreme pornography.

Richard Thompson, mitigating, said it was accepted by the Crown that his client had not specifically searched for indecent material involving children, but had been sent it along with adult pornography.

“He was searching for adult pornography and indeed there was a large quantity found on his computer,” said Mr Thompson. “He accepts that over a period of time it crossed into viewing this illegal material and he has taken steps to address this.”

Mr Thompson said Pocklington had, of his own volition, cut his home internet access to prevent himself from being tempted to view indecent images.

The lawyer said most of the material related to children aged 12 to 15, rather than “very young children”.

He said Pocklington had been under the false impression that it was legal to view pornography showing 16 to 18-year-olds.

Judge Mark Bury said Pocklington had downloaded child abuse images as a “byproduct” of searching for material involving adults.

Sentencing him to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months, Judge Bury told Pocklington: “We take these offences very seriously because for each image that is produced there will be someone who has been abused.

“While there are people such as you who visit these sites, there will always be a market for these images.”

Pocklington was given a seven-year sexual offences prevention order that requires him to allow police to view any electronic device that can be used to store material, or view the internet.

He was also told he is prohibited from deleting the internet history on devices and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for eight years.

In addition, Pocklington must complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

Bristol church minister – who admitted having thousands of indecent photos of young boys – denies underage sex with boy

min

A CHURCH minister who admitted having thousands of indecent photos of young boys has denied having underage sex with a boy he befriended. He has admitted having sexual activity with the boy, but only once he turned 16.

Wilmer Stapleton, who is openly gay, is a minister at three Moravian churches in Bristol.

Stapleton told Bristol Crown Court that, although he got to know the alleged victim when he was aged 12, and had “come out” as homosexual, they had no sexual encounters while the boy was underage.

The 61-year-old, who lives in New Cheltenham Road, Kingswood, denies five charges of having sexual activity with a child aged 14 to 16. He has pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent photographs of youngsters, and 15 charges of possessing indecent photographs of youngsters, relating to just over 22,000 images and movie clips of boys aged eight to 16.

The jury heard Stapleton had a framed naked photo of the boy in his bedside cabinet, and also had a video clip of another naked youngster.

Florida-born Stapleton told the court he was married with a daughter and living in the USA when he came out as gay aged 41. He was divorced in 2000. After moving to the UK he was invited to work as a minister for the Moravian Church, serving three churches in the Bristol area.

Stapleton said the 12-year-old would come to his home, where they would chat and watch TV. He said he cleared things with the boy’s parents, and now and again the boy would stay over in a guest room.

He said: “I saw him as a little brother – or more like the son that I never had. He talked about puberty, boys and girls. He was completely comfortable about his being gay, within himself.”

Stapleton conceded downloading indecent images of boys, but insisted this was not because he was sexually attracted to them.

He said: “The images were more to do with my unhappiness with being fat all my life. Aged eight to ten I put on weight and I’ve been teased all my life.

“The images were almost exclusively skinny men.

“It is the skinniness that attracted me; it’s what I wished I looked like.”

Stapleton conceded he had had sexual encounters with the boy after he had turned 16. He said what started as a “blip” happened no more than three times.

It is the Crown’s case Stapleton had sexual activity with the lad between 14 to 16.

The minister told the jury: “It never happened. I never had any sexual activity with him before he was 16.

“I never wanted a sexual relationship with him. I never intended a sexual relationship with him.

“It was not the kind of relationship I wanted and he didn’t want a relationship with me.”

Under cross-examination Stapleton admitted using a calendar creator computer programme to make himself calendars with photos of semi-naked young men.

The case continues.

‘Pillar of community’ jailed for multiple child sex offences

mc

A man described as pillar of his community has been sentenced to three years for a series of sex offences against three sisters that started when they were 12 years old.

Frank McHugh, 66, of Narin, Portnoo, Co. Donegal, was sentenced to three years with 11 months suspended when he admitted 17 sexual assaults on the sisters between October 1977 and February 1985. He was placed on the sex offenders register.

Donegal Circuit Court was told the father of three was a retired Bord na Mona employee, a peace commissioner, a co-founder of a community centre of which he was a former chairperson,  a regular church-goer and a non-drinker and non-smoker.

McHugh’s wife and three children were in court to hear Judge John O’Hagan refer to him as a “pillar of their lives” who had committed an appalling series of sex offences.

Two of his three victims were also in court with their husbands.

The judge told McHugh that he hadleft a terrible trail of devastation behind him

The court heard the offences started shortly after the sisters moved with their family to Ireland from the UK.

One said in her victim impact report read by the prosecution in court that the first offence against her started six weeks after they moved to Ireland,

Another sister said in her impact report that she suffered in silence for 28 years.

The third sister said her innocence was taken away in childhood,

In 2011, when each sister became aware for the first time of the abuses committed against them, they told their heart-broken 73-year-old father.  One of them also sat at the side of her mother’s grave to tell her about what happened.

Earlier the court was told by investigating officer, Det.Garda David Moore, that two of the girls were aged 12 when they were abused. McHugh had pleaded guilty to one sample charge against each of them.

Det Gda Moore said several offences were committed against the older sister between the ages of 12 and 18.

Defence counsel Cormac O’ Dulachain told the court that McHugh was involved in every community initiative in his area. He apologised to his victims and to his own family and acknowledged that he had destroyed many people’s lives and relationships.

Judge O’Hagan described the case as “appalling and “horrific”. He noted the defendant could be identified but there must be no publication of his victims’ names.

Jeffrey Greig – Killingworth

September 2003

Free of our evil dad

jg

Jeffrey Greig was today starting a 16 year jail term for putting his family though a decade of hell.

The scale of physical, sexual and mental torture the family suffered at the hands of the martial arts fanatic shocked detectives who brought him to justice.

Stepchildren Derek and Pamela, and Greig’s own daughter, Elaine, courageously waived their anonymity to reveal the depths of his depravity.

They spoke after Greig, 39, of Sycamore Place, Killingworth, admitted rape, indecent assault and child cruelty to Newcastle Crown Court.

During 10-plus years of hell, steroid popping body-builder Greig:

* Choked his pregnant stepdaughter while he raped her.

* Sexually assaulted his own daughter.

* Forced his stepson to sleep in the bath in a bin liner.

* Nailed the lad’s socks to the floor, making him think he was putting the nails through his feet.

* Lived out his kung fu fantasies by violently practicing moves on the boy.

Today, Derek, 22, of Wallsend, spoke of his relief as Greig was locked up.

“We are free from him at last. He can’t touch our lives any more. He deserves everything he’s got.

“He mentally and physically tortured me, and raped my sister, Pamela. He then turned to Elaine and sexually assaulted her. He destroyed our childhood.

“I hoped he’d get at least 10 years for what he has done. Sixteen is a great relief for all of us. We can start to rebuild our lives.”

Greig repeatedly raped and molested his stepdaughter, now aged 24, after terrifying her into years of silence.

Her ordeal started at the age of seven, and progressed from fondling to violent rape in her early teens.

She was aware of the violence her brother, Derek, had been suffering at their stepfather’s hands since he was just five.

But Derek didn’t know until later his sister was being repeatedly raped.

Pamela and Elaine, now 16, broke down and wept when Greig was sentenced. He showed no remorse.

Pamela was his first sexual target. She wasn’t allowed to go anywhere or have any friends.

“I was terrified of him. I didn’t understand what he was doing to me when he started molesting me,” she said.

“He was so violent, he would put a cushion over my face or try to strangle me while he raped me.

“I could only wear trousers and tops which covered me up. He never allowed me out.

“He used to watch martial arts videos and thought he was so powerful he would act them out on us. He would kick and punch me and Derek as if he was the martial arts trainer.”

Greig, who married the children’s mother, Mary, ran such a brutal punishment regime the girl and her young brother were beaten with a studded belt even if they so much as touched their hair.

When Pamela broke free and started a relationship with a boyfriend and became pregnant, Greig was enraged.

He brought her back under control by raping her virtually every night she was pregnant.

“He thought he could do what he wanted because I was pregnant and at that stage he couldn’t make me pregnant,” said a tearful Pamela.

Derek, a Newcastle baker, settled with his girlfriend, Georgette, 22, said: “I want to make what happened to us public because at the time our lives were torn apart no one knew what was going on.

“He forced me to sleep naked in the empty bath with just a bin liner and I could not move overnight.

“He’d watch martial arts videos and then kick and punch me and stamp on my head.

” I didn’t have any friends and when I went to Burnside School, in Wallsend, teachers couldn’t understand why I became unruly.

“I was excluded from school and I lost out on any normal life. Teachers wanted me to see a child psychologist for my behaviour but Greig refused as he knew what he was doing would come out.”

He said Greig hit him mainly where bruises would not show. He would also nail his socks to the floor to stop him moving, but aged seven Derek thought his feet were nailed to the floor.

The abuse went on for more than 10 years. They moved around houses, mainly in Wallsend.

Derek was 15 when Greig forced him out to live on his own. It was when he was strong enough to fight back and Greig didn’t want him to protect Pamela.

Now a mum-of-two herself, Pamela said she didn’t want the pattern of abuse to continue for her daughter, Chloe, aged five.

“I wanted to protect my daughter who was visiting her grandmother while he still was still turning up at her house,” said Pamela.

“There was no way she was going to be harmed. We had to get the police and he was arrested just before Christmas, 2001.”

Pamela, who also has a one-year-old son Bradley, is set to marry her fiance, John Cutts, in North Shields, on September 20.

Elaine was subjected to indecent assaults after a family confrontation stopped Greig attacking Pamela.

Her abuse started when she was seven and went on until Greig was arrested. He had attempted to rape her when she was 13 but she managed to fend him off.

Elaine said: “He scared me. I couldn’t sleep at night because he would come into my room.

“He started touching me and I felt sick. He even took me alone on holiday to Tenerife and I didn’t want to go.

“He pinned me down on the floor once and tried to rape me, but I managed to fight him off.

“I’m so relieved he has been locked away for a long time.”

The victims thanked the police officers who worked on their case for their support.

Jailing Greig and ordering him onto the sex offender register for life, Judge Maurice Carr said: “There is no excuse for any of your conduct. There has to be a lengthy period of imprisonment.

“There’s no explanation given in all the reports I’ve seen. It’s a history of bullying, physical chastisement, domination, and seeking your own sexual enjoyment.

“You ruined their childhood, and I have no doubt you have had a serious affect on each of the three children insofar as the whole of their lives are concerned.”

Paul Sloan, QC, defending, said Greig’s obsession with bodybuilding led him into steroid abuse.

Mr Sloan said: “He was aware the use of these drugs caused him to become extremely aggressive and violent at times.

“That can’t excuse what happened or provide any consolation to those he has abused, but his preoccupation with bodybuilding and his use of steroids played it’s part in these offences.”

After the case, Det Insp Mark Anastasi, of Northumbria Police’s child protection unit, said: “The victims showed remarkable courage to bring him to justice.

“They were subjected to a terrifying childhood and it hasn’t been easy for them to come forward after all they suffered.”

52 year old pervert pretended to be 17-year-old boy to groom schoolgirl online

A MAN has been jailed after he admitted grooming a 15-year-old girl over the internet.

Glen Pimborough, of Chinnor Close, Leigh, pretended to be a 17-year-old boy in order to groom the underage girl, from the West Midlands.

The 52-year-old was given a 32 month sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on January 9 after pleading guilty to seven counts, including two of causing and inciting a female child aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity and three of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child at an earlier hearing.

Pimborough struck up an online relationship with the victim, who cannot be named for legal reason, which lasted for more than 5 months.

He sent video’s of himself masturbating to the child, only showing his lower torso and claiming this was because he had acne and didn’t want to show his face.

Det Con Jennifer Reeve said: “This horrific crime goes to show that you never really know who you are talking to online.

“This child fully believed that she was having an age appropriate relationship with a teenage boy for 5 months.”

“Online safety is very important and I would urge children, parents and carers to make themselves aware of the website itsnotokay.co.uk for advice/guidance and information about child sexual exploitation.”

Pimborough will be subject of a sexual offences prevention order for 10 years and will be on the sex offenders register for life.

Corby man sentenced to eight years for sex offences against young boys

John Francis Edwards

A 75-year-old Corby man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a series of historical sexual assaults on young boys.

At Northampton Crown Court this week, John Francis Edwards of Tanfields Grove, Corby, was found guilty of a number of assaults which took place between 1989 and 1995.

The court heard details of a number of offences committed against three young boys.

Sgt Annmarie Mason, from Corby CID, who led the investigation, said: “Edwards thought he had got away with his crimes for many years and has shown no remorse whatsoever to his victims.

“All three of these young men suffered at the hands of Edwards but they have all shown tremendous courage by coming forward and supporting the police prosecution.”

Detective Inspector Ali Reynolds added that he hoped cases such as this would encourage victims of historic offences to come forward, safe in the knowledge they will be supported and believed and that the police will investigate their allegations.

Crosby paedophile jailed for 11 years for sex attacks on girls

Nigel Dalton

A pervert was jailed for more than 11 years for “disgusting” sexual offences against a little girl.

Nigel Dalton abused his victim when she was aged nine to 14-years-old after befriending her family.

Judge Stephen Everett today said Dalton had displayed “sheer perversion” and that he would have jailed him for life if current guidelines allowed him to pass that sentence.

Dalton, 52, formerly of Cranfield Road, Crosby, but now imprisoned at HMP Risley for other offences, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and seven counts of indecency with children.

Charles Lander, prosecuting, said he forced the youngster and another girl aged seven at the time, to play sex games and perform sex acts in return for sweets and trips to McDonalds.

Mr Lander said Dalton, who was in his late 30s at the time, also made the child take baths with him.

The court heard the children were too young to understand what was happening during the attacks which took place from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s.

Dalton also admitted breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) made in 2010, after he befriended another family with two toddlers in 2011 and spent time alone with them.

The paedophile, balding with a grey ponytail and wearing a green coat in court, covered his face with his hand and sobbed as a victim impact statement was read to the court.

The woman said she looked up to Dalton, who bought her presents and took her horse riding.

She said: “Some of the things he asked us to do were strange but I trusted him.

“When it ended I felt pushed out because he had found a girl younger than me.

“I loved him and thought he loved me too.”

The court heard she had self-medicated with alcohol and drugs, experienced flashbacks of his abuse and been diagnosed by a psychiatrist with a personality disorder brought about by his offending.

Dalton has previous convictions including sexual assault in 2010 against an eight-year-old.

He has breached the resulting SOPO four times, including incidents where he befriended families with other young children in an attempt to groom them, and is currently serving a 35-month jail term for abusing a nine year old girl.

Frank Dillion, defending, said his client’s strongest mitigation was that he had pleaded guilty and spared his victims the ordeal of giving evidence at a trial.

He added that Dalton wished to apologise for his behaviour.

Judge Everett said he was forced to sentence Dalton under the guidelines at the time the offences were committed.

He said: “It is difficult to express the correct words to describe your behaviour. It was as bad as it gets of its type.

“The behaviour you visited on these young children was disgusting and perverted.

“You pose a very real risk of severe harm to young children.

“Believe me, if I could have jailed you for life I would have.”

The judge jailed Dalton for 11 years and two months plus an indefinite SOPO.

He praised the woman’s bravery in reporting the crimes, adding: “Because of your courage a man who was a risk to children has been taken out of the community for many years.”

Prison electrician paedophile jailed for sexually abusing young girl for SEVEN years

Brian Hanley

A paedophile who raped a schoolgirl for seven years from the age of nine has been jailed for more than 13 years.

Brian Hanley, 55, worked as an electrician at Holme House Prison, Stockton, when he sexually terrorised the youngster from the age of nine after leaving notes for her to find

The victim, who is now married, told her husband in May last year after living with the torment since 1996.

Prosecutor Sarah Mallett told Teesside Crown Court that the abuse went on for seven years.

The victim contemplated suicide for many years after it stopped but she decided that she could not put her children through it.

A statement from her which was read out in court said: “After suffering this abuse for eight years I believe that it had a severe impact on my life and my mental health.

“I questioned myself for a long time ‘Why me ?’ Did I do anything to cause it?

“I have contemplated suicide many times but I would never put my children through that.

“As a child I used to pull out my eyelashes and my hair. I am still a suspecting person when it comes to men. He played psychological mind games and blackmailed me. I know now that I have to live with these memories for the rest of my life.

“I feel that my life in any sense is ruined and changed because of dark memories. I feel cheated out of my childhood.”

The woman said that she is still receiving counselling and she was on anti-depressants so that she can sleep at night.

Hanley confessed to his crimes when he was interviewed on May 27 last year.

Andrew Turton, defending, said that Hanley had no previous convictions prior to then, and he had shown remorse by indicating early guilty pleas.

Judge Howard Crowson told Hanley: “I am persuaded that there is evidence of genuine remorse.

“I hope that during your prison period you will receive whatever treatment will be helpful to you and when you are released you will receive assistance as a sex offender.”

Hanley, formerly of Stockton Street, Billingham, and latterly of Newcommen Court, Redcar, was jailed for 13 years and four months, with an indefinite Sexual Offence’s Prevention Order and ordered to register as a sexual offender for life. He was banned for life from associating with girls under 16.

He pleaded guilty to eight offences of rape, five of indecent assault and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The crown accepted his not guilty pleas to another indecent assault and an attempted rape.
