Schoolgirl kept her cool to catch sick pervert

Not for Photosales

A schoolgirl kept her cool when she suspected her mother’s lover was using a hidden camera to spy on her having a bath, a court heard

And when the 15-year-old looked, she found an iPhone hidden in a toiletries bag in a bathroom cabinet.

Calmly, the youngster deleted the recording from twisted Kenneth Mitchell’s phone to lull him into thinking it had not worked properly – and transferred the video he had made onto her own phone to keep as evidence.

Kenneth Mitchell admitted using his phone to video the girl when she was naked.

Alison Montgomery, prosecuting, explained that Mitchell had been in a relationship with a woman and living in Stirlingshire.

She said Mitchell “took parental responsibility” and made it a “rule of the house” that anyone going for a bath should check if anyone else needed to use the loo first.

The girl did so, and then went to run her bath. While it was filling, she heard what she thought was the sound of a iPhone recording.

She checked with a sibling to see if they were recording on their iPhone, but they weren’t. Later, in the bathroom, the teenage girl noticed “what she thought was an iPhone in a bathroom cabinet protruding from a red toiletry bag”.

She played back the recording, used her mobile phone to capture the damning images, then erased them from Mitchell’s phone.

The depute fiscal said the girl did not say anything at first “because she didn’t want to upset her mum”. But she later showed her mother the recording that the accused had made, and the police were called in. Ms Montgomery said that Mitchell told the family: “I know what I did was wrong.

I can’t even explain it.

I don’t know what went through my head to do such a thing.” But he refused to make a comment when charged by police. At Falkirk Sheriff Court, Mitchell (51), of Orchard Court, Thornliebank, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to concealing a mobile phone with a video capacity in a bathroom, and recording the girl undressing until she was naked and her breasts and buttocks were exposed as she took a bath.

The charge said he did it with the intention of him or another person looking at an image of the girl – who cannot be named – doing a private act.

The incident occurred on 16 January 2014. Sheriff John Mundy deferred sentence until 27 November for background reports and placed Mitchell on the sex offenders’ register.

Police condemn ‘callous’ rapist Adam Carruthers after conviction for Falkirk attacks

adamcarruthers

Police have condemned a “callous individual” who was convicted of a string of sex attacks across 18 years.

Serial rapist Adam Carruthers was convicted on Monday of 17 charges including rape and indecent assault in Falkirk between 1996 and 2014.

Det Ch Insp Samantha McCluskey said Carruthers had “targeted vulnerable women whom he believed would never speak against him”.

Carruthers will be sentenced next year, and could face a life sentence.

The 44-year-old raped four women, sexually assaulted another in a hospital, and physically abused one victim’s children.

At his trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, Carruthers claimed to be a “caring” church-goer, denying all of the charges against him, and told prosecutor Shirley McKenna: “You know what women are like – you do lie.”

The labourer had previous convictions for assault and breach of the peace and had previously been placed on the sex offenders’ register for attacking a teenager with learning difficulties.

One victim said Carruthers was a “Jekyll and Hyde” character who could be “nice one minute, then he would just change”.

She was raped by Carruthers while she was pregnant and while her children were in the house.

After a guilty verdict at the conclusion of “an extremely serious and difficult case”, Lady Wise ordered a full risk assessment to be carried out, which could lead to an order for lifelong restriction being imposed.

Det Ch Insp McCluskey said: “Carruthers was a particularly callous individual, who, over the course of many years, targeted vulnerable women whom he believed would never speak against him.

“It is through the courage of his victims in coming forward, and the proactive police engagement work carried out by Police Scotland’s Domestic Abuse Task Force, that Carruthers has finally been brought to justice.”

Sex assault on 14 year old schoolgirl admitted, but pervert avoids prison

A man who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl on two separate occasions has been spared a prison sentence

Stefan Bullock, 21 of Abercaseg, Bethesda admitted the charges when he appeared at Caernarfon crown court

Judge Hughes ordered Bullock to be supervised by probation officers for the next three years, and to undertake courses as specified instead of a suspended jail term

Describing the offences as serious, the judge said: “You found yourself attracted to a 14 year old schoolgirl. You are a adult. She was, and still is a child”

“Nevertheless you carried on with the relationship when you should of stepped back”

Bullocks name will remain on the sex offenders register for seven years and he must not approach or contact the girl involved

Prosecuting said the offences occurred in July last year on a cycle path near Tregarth.

Bullock had befriended the girl on social media and he had encouraged her to meet him on the footpath

Later he sent her sexually explicit text messages

Man spared jail over child abuse images

bos

A Boscombe man has been spared jail after admitting downloading indecent images.

Phillip Gallagher, of Hamilton Road in Boscombe, had a total of 63 images and movies involving children on a laptop seized by police on November 4 last year.

A judge at Bournemouth Crown Court handed the 56-year-old a community order

Appearing before the court for sentence on Tuesday, Gallagher spoke quietly to confirm he was guilty of the eight charges against him.

The offences include the downloading of 11 category A images and a two-minute movie, 21 category B images and a 30-minute movie, and 29 category C images.

Mitigating, Robert Grey said his client – who “lives a lonely life” – was ashamed and had shown a “high degree” of remorse.

Judge Jonathan Fuller called the case “unusual” because of Gallagher’s background and mental health issues.

The defendant, who works part-time as a cleaner, will serve a three-year community order with a supervision requirement.

He will also be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order, and participate in a work programme to address his offending.

Jailed for life: Pervert who raped 11-year-old boy in toilets of Manchester Arndale

ferrier

A pensioner has been given a life sentence for raping an 11-year-old boy in the toilets of the Manchester Arndale.

John Richard Ferrier, 69, was on bail after being accused of raping another child when he carried out the attack.

He now faces the prospect of dying behind bars after being ordered to serve to life in prison with a minimum term of eight years.

Manchester Crown Court heard how predator Ferrier approached the schoolboy in the toilets of the shopping centre on Thursday, October 18, last year.

After the boy refused to go into a cubicle, Ferrier dragged him inside one and attacked him.

Horrified witnesses who overheard the assault raced to find security guards, who detained Ferrier for 30 minutes until police arrived.

However, the terrified victim took off as soon as he was able to escape his attacker’s clutches.

But police officers tracked down the victim with just a description of his school uniform and were able to coax him into revealing what happened after visiting his school.

The court heard how Ferrier carried out the attack while on bail awaiting trial for sexually abusing and raping a 11 year old girl.

He was later convicted of that offence and is currently serving a 16 year prison sentence.

Ferrier, of Ormskirk Road, Wigan, will spend his remaining years in jail after now being sentenced for the second offence.

The boy’s mum described her heartache, revealing how she had allowed her son to walk home from school instead of collecting him up as normal.

She said: “I felt guilty because I normally picked him up but hadn’t been able to because I had been ill.

“When the attack happened he was a lot quieter and we suspected something was wrong but had no idea about the attack until the police came.

“He has been doing a lot better and we are working through it as a family.”

Police believe predator Ferrier may have spotted his victim in Piccadilly Gardens and pursued him into the shopping centre.

Det Con Simon France, from GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: “I would like to commend the victim who with the support of his family and specially trained officers had the courage to come forward and tell police what happened to him.

“He is a young boy who has had a terrifying ordeal and it was not easy for him to admit what had happened. With his support we have been able to bring Ferrier before the courts and he will now spend a substantial period of time in prison.

“I would also like to thank members of the public and the staff at Manchester Arndale as it was due to their quick actions that meant a dangerous man was stopped and arrested at the scene.”

‘Danger’ paedophile gets 16 years in jail

A PAEDOPHILE pensioner who repeatedly abused a young girl, including raping her, has been caged for 16 years.

A judge told John Ferrier that he viewed him as a dangerous offender but because of his age would not make an indefinite sentence as he will already be an old man when his prison terms ends.

The girl, who was 11, was “particularly vulnerable to sexual exploitation and that is the person you cynically choose to take advantage of,” said Judge Robert Trevor-Jones.

Ferrier, 69, had groomed the girl and abused her at his flat in Pemberton above an Indian takeaway.

His depraved behaviour also included taking the youngster to a Manchester to buy sex toys, including handcuffs, and pornographic magazines and watched pornography with her. The offences came to light in April last year and although the girl was initially reluctant to reveal what had been happening she did so and her police interviews were recorded on video.

Ferrier, of Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, pleaded not guilty to rape and eight other offences involving sexual abuse but was convicted last month after a trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Judge Trevor-Jones pointed out that his denials means that the girl had been “compelled to attend court and give evidence and be branded a liar.”

He ordered Ferrier to sign on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and imposed an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order keeping him away from under 16-year-olds.

Paul Becker, defending, said that Ferrier, has no previous convictions but accepted that one was inevitable.

He has health problems including high blood pressure, arthritis and heart disease.

He maintains his innocence, he added.

Paedophile accused of ejaculating in Pizza Hut and having sexual relationship with 14-year-old girl in Nando’s is jailed

A paedophile accused of ejaculating in Pizza Hut during a sexual exchange with an under-age girl has been jailed.

Hugh Reid waved farewell to family and friends from the dock this afternoon at Harrow Crown Court after being sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in a relationship with a girl who cannot be named for legal reasons.

It began in 2007 when Reid, 45, began using online chat room MSN Messenger to talk to the girl, who was 14 years old at the time.

In May that year, the couple met for a double date at Vue Cinema in Park Royal, and what followed was a relationship spanning years involving oral and penetrative sex.

Reid, of Christchurch Road, Colliers Wood, south-west London, was 38 at the time of initially striking up the relationship with the girl, who is now in her final year of university.

In October, Reid pleaded guilty to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with the girl inside a car parked in Harrow.

He also admitted sexually touching her in a Nando’s restaurant in Leisure Way, Finchley.

The girl had not reported the consensual relationship to police until years after the relationship had come to an end, when during a What’s App conversation he told her that his wife had given birth.

The court heard that the girl, acting out of concern for the new born, then alerted officers.

Addressing Reid’s defence, Judge Houlder said: “When he admitted the offence, he said ‘I just let it happen’.

“He speaks as if it was some kind of out of body experience. He did not stop himself from meeting and engaging in sexual activity.

“The power lies with the older man. His duty is to stop her from falling into this situation.”

The prosecution agreed to have two charges, including having phone sex while in Pizza Hut and ejaculating, to lie on file.

Louise Sweet, for Reid, told Judge Houlder that during the relationship Reid was still reeling from the break-up of his first marriage, when he married a woman and moved to Peru to be with her, only to be told in no uncertain terms that ‘she only married him for his passport’.

She added: “You can only imagine how that must feel. Are we dealing with a predator here? My argument is that we are not.

“The motivation came from a crisis in confidence, not from an interest in children.”

Reid, who works in IT for supermarket Sainsbury’s, was sentenced to two years in prison of which he will serve one, and ordered to pay £5,000 to the girl in compensation.

Sex fiend found with indecent images

A convicted paedophile said he had been able to see pornographic sites on the Internet while he was in prison.

Charlie Oliver served seven years in jail for the attempted rape of a girl under 13, but only weeks after being released from prison he was caught with indecent pictures of children on his mobile phone.

Oliver, 25, of Trafalgar Road, South Shore, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to five offences of possessing an indecent photograph of a child. He also admitted possessing a prohibited image of a child.

He was remanded in custody to appear for sentence at Preston Crown Court on December 10 by District Judge David Purcell sitting at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.

The judge was told that on August 29 Oliver was released from a seven-year prison sentence after being convicted of attempting to rape a girl under the age of 13.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said that on October 24 Oliver was visited by police at his home.

His mobile phone was seized and it was found to contain indecent images of children, some at the highest level of indecency.

Patrick Nelligan, defending, said his client was drunk when he had a discussion with a friend who asked him if he wanted some pornography put on his phone.

Oliver believed the pictures on that site were of women 18 or over, but who just looked younger.

Police however had estimated the ages of the girls pictured on Oliver’s phone as between 12 and 14.

Oliver had asked for help from mental health specialists, the court heard.

14 years jail for man who groomed vulnerable girl

john

A 44-year-old man who groomed a vulnerable under-age teenager before repeatedly sexually assaulting her has been jailed for 14 years.

John Corteggio, of Queen’s Park Rise, Brighton, was investigated after images were found on his computer at home.

He had been on the sex offender register until 2006 because of a previous conviction and will have to sign on to the register for life after his release from prison.

Sussex Police detective constable Paul Ash said: “The offences came to our attention last year when another occupant of Corteggio’s address saw images on his computer and became suspicious.

“We immediately investigated and traced the girl, who provided us with full details of what had happened to her and gave evidence against him in court.

“It became clear that he had befriended her over a period of time, taking advantage of her youth and vulnerability.”

Odd-job man Corteggio was found guilty of 19 sexual offences, most of which involved the 14-year-old girl, in two separate trials, one in February this year for 15 of the charges and one in September for the remaining four.

He was given a 14-year extended jail sentence at Hove Crown Court on November 13.

The offences involving the teenage girl included five serious sexual assaults on her involving penetration, one of inciting sexual activity, others of making indecent images of her and one of voyeurism.

He was also found guilty of voyeurism relating to a second woman and of possession of prohibited images depicting animals.

Corteggio must serve at least seven years before being able to apply for parole and will be on release licence until 14 years have expired.

He was also given an indefinite sexual offences prevention order, banning him from unsupervised access to girls below the age of 16.

Corteggio featured in The Argus newspaper in 2008, when he was running a company called JACS The Helpful Chaps and complained about a potential fine for fly-tipping.

Crawley paedophile faces jail after downloading 123,000 child abuse images

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

A TWISTED paedophile, who worked at Gatwick Airport as a security guard, is facing jail after pleading guilty today (Friday) to downloading more than 120,000 images of child abuse.

Sick Trevor Best, from Tillotson Close, Maidenbower, faced 12 charges relating to the downloading and in some cases distributing of indecent photos of children.

He pleaded guilty to all 12 charges.

One of the charges was that he downloaded 123,111 indecent photos of children onto his computer.

Another charge which the 60-year-old admitted was that he possessed 338 child abuse videos.

At Hove Crown Court today he was given conditional bail, until his sentencing on December 19 at the same court.

The judge ordered pre-sentence reports to be put together but he warned Best he was likely to be sent to jail.

Defence solicitor Silas Reid said that his client was “a man of previous good character”, adding that Best has been investigating ways he can get help so he can recover from having his “inclinations” to download child porn.

All the offences are linked to a police search at his home address on December 17 last year.

At a previous hearing prosecutor Mark Kateley said: “A warrant was executed at the address of the defendant, where a huge number of images and videos of varying categories were found on his computer.

“A number of these images and videos had been distributed.”

US probe found Amman Valley man’s indecent images of children

A MAN has appeared in court after an international criminal investigation found he had made several indecent images of children.

David John Keith Evans, from Escairynys in Upper Brynaman, pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates Court to five counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.

Prosecution solicitor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones said: “This case came to light because of an international search started in North America which led to this gentleman’s e-mail address being discovered.”

Investigators uncovered the 39-year-old’s email address in an operation based on the other side of the Atlantic. Mr Pritchard-Jones said the charges revolve around 16 inappropriate images which were found on Evans’s computer.

He said: “When questioned by police he admitted he had obtained these images.

“They relate to fairly young children, some of them five to six, up to 14 years old.”

All of the images were classed by police as being Category C, which is the least serious bracket for indecentimages of children.

Most of the images involved the children posing in their underwear and none of them show the girls engaged in any sexual activity.

District Judge Neil Thomas told Evans that he could face a prison sentence for the crimes and informed him that he was keeping all options open in his sentencing. He requested that a pre-sentence report be prepared on Evans before proceeding with sentencing.

Evans was released on bail with the condition that he cooperate with the probation service and have no unsupervised contact with any children under the age of 16.

He was ordered to reappear at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 11.

Orchestra member jailed for eight years for sexually abusing two schoolgirls

orch

A member of an orchestra who sexually abused two schoolgirls has been jailed for eight years

Wesley Hawryliw groomed the victims, who were aged between 11 and 15 and used them for sexual gratification, Leicester Crown Court was told.

The 32-year-old, of Lilac Avenue, Humberstone Garden City, Leicester, befriended the girls after meeting them through the Soar Valley Music Centre, Claremont Street, Belgrave, where he was a member of the orchestra.

He was found guilty by a jury of eight sex offences between 2005 and 2007.

Hawryliw denied the offences, claiming the victims fabricated the allegations and had collaborated to blackmail and frame him.

He also blamed the “permissive culture” within the music centre at the time.

In May, a former teacher at the same music centre, Christopher Dunn, 39, of Pulford Drive, Thurnby, was jailed for eight years after a jury convicted him of seven counts of sexually abusing three 15-year-old girls whom he met through the orchestra, between 2000 and 2008.

James House, prosecuting, told the court that new organisers have since taken over the running of Soar Valley Music Centre.

He said: “It’s an entirely different set up with appropriate safeguarding policies in place.”

Sentencing Hawryliw, Judge Simon Hammond said he had committed a breach of trust by sexually abusing the two children.

He said: “The defendant targeted and systematically abused these girls for his sexual gratification.

“This type of offending has a serous legacy and it’s no surprise to me to hear what’s in the victim impact statements.

“It can be extremely damaging for victims and often causes psychological harm.

“The defendant placed himself in an environment that gave him an opportunity to have contact with, and groom, young girls and he exploited that.

“Parents don’t send their children to an orchestra to be sexually abused.

“The distasteful element was that he claimed the girls colluded to blackmail and frame him.

“These girls showed great courage and dignity in giving their evidence in this case.”

Hawryliw was told he will have to sign on to a sex offender register for life.

He was also made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order banning unsupervised contact with girls under 16.

The court heard the defendant persuaded one girl, aged 15, to undress in front of a webcam and touch herself while he watched on his computer and behaved similarly.

On occasions he separately took the victims to his home where sexual acts took place.

James House, prosecuting, said the abuse had a devastating effect upon the victims.

Rachel Darby, mitigating, said Hawryliw, who had no previous convictions, was a young man when the offences took place.

She said: “He had limited sexual experience.

“There were unhealthy personal dynamics at the Soar Valley Music Centre and he was influenced by that at the time.

“He’s unlikely to be in any kind of trouble in the future.

“Custody would have a devastating effect upon him and all members of the family.”

Harryliw was convicted of two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and one of sexual activity with a child, relating to the first victim, aged 15.

He was also found guilty of three offences of sexual activity with a child and one of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, with the second victim, aged between 11 and 14 years.

Paedophile jailed for having ‘one of worst collections of child abuse images judge has ever seen’

George Harrison

A PAEDOPHILE caught with one of the worst collections of child abuse images a judge had ever come across has been jailed for two years.

George Harrison, 49, of West Hull who had no previous convictions, downloaded more than 1,500 indecent images and videos of children, as well as extreme pornography, between July 2012 and February this year.

Nicola Quinney, prosecuting at Hull Crown Court, said: “An officer who viewed the images said a number of them showed sadistic behaviour on very young children.”

The age of those being abused ranged from babies to children aged 14, but most were between five and 11.

Harrison, a father, admitted possessing 685 indecent images and 429 indecent movies, distributing 399 indecent movies, and possession of nine movies of extreme pornography.

Teacher jailed for indecently assaulting young girls

A PRIMARY school teacher in North Yorkshire was today starting a two-year jail sentence for indecently assaulting young girls.

Andrew Berry, 35, of Main Road, Aislaby, near Whitby, was told he would never work with children again.

He was found guilty of six charges of indecent assault – five on a 10-year-old girl and the sixth on another girl, aged nine – at York Crown Court last month.

Jailing him, Judge Paul Hoffman said there was a risk of him committing further offences. Berry was also sentenced to an extended five-year licence on his release and was put on the sex offenders’ register.

Berry assaulted the younger girl in April last year at a youth group where he was a helper. He assaulted the other girl between October, 2001 and May last year.

The families of both girls were in court yesterday.

At his trial, the mother of the older girl said Berry was a trusted friend who had a good rapport with her daughter.

“He always had children all round him,” she said. “They liked him a great deal as he was good fun.”

The woman said he had a pet name for her daughter, to whom he showed “a lot of attention and affection”.

She knew Berry was a “hands-on” person with children but became unhappy he was so tactile with her daughter and asked him to stop.

Berry, who had worked as a supply teacher in North Yorkshire since 1996, took a permanent post at Stakesby Primary School, Whitby in 1998.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Council said he was suspended as soon as the allegations came to light.

The spokesman added: “These incidents were not connected with school activities. Both the school and the county council co-operated fully with the police investigation.

“Following the court case, the school and the local education authority have been told that they will be receiving Mr Berry’s resignation from his post with immediate effect.”

Fake Birmingham war hero abused little girl

A PAEDOPHILE who pretended to be a decorated war hero has been jailed for sexually abusing a young girl.

Wesley Williams, 48, boasted to friends that he had spent 14 years in the Royal Marines, serving four tours of duty.

Every Poppy Day the bouncer marched through the West Midlands, wearing the coveted green beret, complete with a blazer dripping in campaign medals and military ribbons.

But Williams, who also claimed he had spent five years with the French Foreign Legion, was living a sick lie. He had never served with the armed forces and his gongs were fakes.

The Birmingham fantasist also had more sinister secret – his lust for young girls.

In January the pervert was jailed for two years and eight months for a sickening sex attack on an eight year-old girl.

Last night, a friend of the victim’s family welcomed the jail sentence for Williams who had created an elaborate double life.

“He’s turned their lives upside down,’’ she said. “What he did was unforgivable.”

Police were alerted after the young girl was attacked last year. Williams fled the country but was later arrested trying to get back into the UK.

In January he was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison by a judge at Birmingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual assault on a female under the age of 13.

He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years and banned from working with children for life.

Serial liar Williams, who worked as a bouncer in Birmingham bars and clubs, told friends he had served in the military for nearly two decades.

He claimed to have gone to military school when he left the care system before joining the Royal Marines in 1979, serving in Northern Ireland twice, the Falklands and the first Gulf War.

He also claimed to have been part of the secretive Special Boat Service (SBS) – the navy’s equivalent to the SAS.

A friend of the sex monster, who did not want to be named, said: “He said he was mentioned in dispatches for bravery in Northern Ireland when his commanding officer got his legs blown off and he had to take charge of the unit.

“It was like he had done everything and been everywhere – deep sea diving, high altitude jumps. He also said he was involved in the Iranian Embassy siege.”

Deluded Williams filled his house with war memorabilia including imitation weapons and fake certificates which, he claimed, were proof he had risen to the rank of sergeant.

He also told pals he had enlisted with the French Foreign Legion, an elite unit famed for being one of the toughest in the world.

But a Ministry of Defence source confirmed there was no record of the twisted pervert ever serving with the British forces.

“This gentleman is telling fibs,” the aide said.“There is no trace of him either with Fleet, which would be the Marines, or with Land, as in the Army.”

The faker was so confident of his cover story that he regularly joined Poppy Day events, held every November in the city.

He would dress in Royal Marine blazer and green beret wearing four medals on his left breast, including a 1962 General Service Medal, South Atlantic Medal, a French National Defence and Overseas medals.

He also wore military ribbons believed to represent First and Second World War campaigns, as well as the Korean conflict.

Man sentenced for sending sex act video to girl (14)

dawson

A pervert targeted a 14-year-old girl for sex despite knowing her mother disapproved of him so much he was blocked on Facebook.

Ryan Dawson (25), sent the girl an indecent video of himself committing a sex act via a Facebook alias inviting her to send one to him in return.

Dawson knew the girl’s family. He had twice betrayed their trust. Dawson had been blocked by the girl’s mother from contacting her young daughter using site restrictions on her Facebook account. But he continued to try and woo the girl, with her knowledge, using the fictional name Ryan Colt to beat the ban.

Ryan Dawson, of Canal Garth, Pollington, near Goole, appeared at Hull Crown Court on Friday (June 20) for sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of inciting a child to commit a sexual act.

Dawson had set about trying to romance the girl despite betraying her family on two separate occasions, said Crown barrister John Thackray.

He said although Dawson has not previously committed a criminal act he had shown disloyal behaviour towards the family, hurting their feelings.

He said Dawson had grown close to the young girl, and set up the alias to get around the Facebook restriction initially telling the girl he loved her. His messages included: “I wish we were cuddling up,” “I will always be yours.”

“He knew how old the girl was because he suggested having sex and she said they would have to wait, because she was not old enough,” said Mr Thackray.

“His messages became more and more suggestive. He asked her: ‘If you had the chance, would you sleep with me?’ She replied: ‘Yes! But I am too young.’

“She asked him where he was. He said: ‘I am in bed, would you like to join me?’ He said ‘I want you now.

“Did you get my video, babe? Are you going to send me one?’

“She replied later: ‘I cannot. I am busy.’

“He badgered her for a reply, suggesting she make a recording in bed. She replied saying that, when she was in bed, she was going to sleep.”

He said the girl’s older sister found out that Ryan Colt was in fact Ryan Dawson, after she saw the messages and called the police. Police raided his home and found a copy of his video stored in the My Cam folder of his computer.

Defence barrister Anil Murray urged the judge not to follow the same sentencing guidelines for those who had unlawful sex with children. He said Dawson had not had sex with the girl. “He accepts his sexual misconduct,” said Mr Murray.

“A theme among his references is that he is an immature young man. Nothing happened other than his disgusting behaviour in the video.”

Sentencing Judge Michael Mettyear said Dawson’s behaviour towards the family had been terrible.

Judge Mettyear said: “This was disgusting behaviour as well as being immoral. It is difficult to understand why you would film yourself doing a sexual act and send it to her asking her to do the same.

“It is beyond comprehension. She had the good sense to say she was too young and refused to do what you asked.” He said he had considered jailing him, but because of his lack of previous convictions and immaturity he had come to the conclusion it was not necessary.

He gave Dawson a 12-month suspended prison sentence to hang over his head for two years. He also ordered he should complete 100 hours of unpaid work. He was allowed to walk free

Paedophile escapes jail term

carl

A Goole paedophile who is a risk to the public has walked free from court with a two-year suspended prison sentence for helping to corrupt a 13-year-old girl in Scotland.

Social misfit Carl Laws, 21, incited a Fife schoolgirl eight years his junior to commit gross sexual acts on herself with household objects for his own sexual gratification. When he was caught he tried to put the blame on his nephew.

He collected a string of images on his Blackberry mobile phone and Samsung laptop of her in states of undress. In total he had 285 illegal and moving images. The filth was stored with the file name “birds”. A probation service report has classified him as a risk to young girls.

Laws appeared for sentence at Hull Crown Court on Monday (January 27) after pleading guilty to two charges of possession of indecent pictures and two charges of grooming a school girl. He was one of up to 100 men thought to be inciting the girl between June 21 and September 11, 2012.

Crown barrister Phillip Evans said the inciting offences carried a guideline of three to seven years in prison. He said the case arose out of complaint from Fife police that a 13-year-old girl had been incited into sexual activity by a string of men across the country.

He said Laws had initially pretended to be a 15-year-old boy then claimed he was 14-years-old while talking over a web cam.

When police knocked on his door in Goole he tried to put the blame on his nephew who had to be spoken to in order to eliminate him from enquiries.

“Mr Laws was not the only enquiry in respect of this girl,” said Mr Evans “There were more than 100 enquiries as a result of what came to light in Scotland. The police took the view to take her through the pictures would be another form of abuse which they were keen to protect her from as she was only 13.”

Defence barrister Pamela Coxon said Laws was a churchgoer with “devilment” inside him.. “It is conceded in the police station he did not admit what he was up to and he did cast suspicion elsewhere,” said Mrs Coxon. “Clearly he made matters worse for himself.

This is a man who is socially isolated, socially inept. This is a young man in desperate need of assistance to deal with his issues. He was only 20 and she was 13. The sentencing guidelines envisage direct contact between the complaint and the defendant.

In this case this was an offender whose behaviour was over the airwaves by computer from Goole to Fife.

“These cases are far too common. He may be back before the courts

if we don’t help him now.”

Sentencing, Judge Simon Jack told Laws: “You are 21 and not been in trouble before, but I have to deal with you for serious offences. I have had to think long and hard if there was any way I could avoid sending you straight to prison. Your advocate has persuaded me I can just avoid sending you to prison. In your case it was contact over the internet at a distance. It seems unlikely there was ever going to be any face-to-face contact. I also take into account the girl was indulging in similar activities. You may not have been the only one that corrupted her. I have taken in to account your age, guilty plea and letter from the church. I accept you were frank with the probation service.”

He ordered Laws should be given a two-year suspended prison sentence, suspended for two years. Laws was also given a two-year community order and a requirement to take part in the sex offender’s treatment programme plus 200 hours of un-paid work. He was also made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and must sign on the Sex Offenders’ register for 10 years.

Jailed for sex offences against young girls

holgate

A Goole pervert has been jailed for 15 months for targeting underage school girls for sex using Blackberry Messenger texts to recruit new victims for his un-natural lust.

Nathan Holgate (pictured), 24, groomed a 14-year-old girl and twice had sex with a 15-year-old girl after starting chats in which he encouraged them to send him naked pictures of themselves.

He used BBM and the WhatsApp real-time personal messages to find young girls in chat rooms. When police arrested him he had five incriminating pictures of one of the underage girl and confessed to police she was not the first.

Holgate, of Sotheron Street, Goole, appeared in the dock at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday, January 8, after pleading guilty to seven charges relating to the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

He was caught after encouraging a 14-year-old girl to send pictures of herself to him. She met him for kisses and her sister was so anxious about the age gap she raised the alarm with her mother. The police were called and Holgate admitted meeting the 14-year-old girl in Goole on at least two occasions between July 11, 2012 and February 18, 2013.

He denied wanting sex with her, but a judge rejected his claim not to be grooming

It was only when he was arrested that evidence of a previous affair with a separate 15-year-old slipped from his lips. He admitted between December 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013 he engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl on two separate occasions.

He also admitted one offence of possessing five indecent images of a child in Goole.

Sentencing Judge Michael Mettyear said: “These offences are becoming all too prevalent these days.

That is contact between men and young girls over mobile phones where, somewhat surprisingly, these girls are persuaded to take their clothes off and exhibit themselves over the internet.

So often after the event they regret it and feel they have been blackmailed or encouraged into it. It’s bad enough if that happens. This went further.

You met this child on two occasions. It is fair to say not very much happened when you did meet up. There was some kissing and cuddling. She was 14.

“Despite your denials, you did have a sexual interest in her which you would have taken further if her sister had not reported it to her mother. You did have sex with another girl who was 15.

She was approaching the age when it would have been perfectly alright. However, the law reflects the fact young girls need to be protected from themselves.

“The courts have to send out a consistent message that this sort of conduct against young girls is not acceptable and will result in a prison sentence.”

He jailed Holgate for 15 months.

Jail for ‘evil’ paedophile who abused girl for nearly a decade

peterwallis

An “evil” sex offender who subjected a young girl to nearly a decade of abuse has been jailed for 15 years.

Peter Philip Wallis, 59, now of Thornden Buildings, Selby, carried out the offences between 1985 and 1994 in Scarborough against the victim, who is now aged 39.

Wallis, who previously lived in Scarborough, has now pleaded guilty to six counts of rape, three counts of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency.

Speaking after the hearing at York Crown Court, where the defendant was jailed for 15 years, Detective Constable Nadine Evans, of Scarborough Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, said: “Wallis is an evil man who subjected his victim to sustained abuse over a number of years.

“He has thankfully been imprisoned for a substantial length of time for his utterly appalling crimes.

“I would like to take the opportunity to praise the victim for her courage in coming forward and reporting these distressing crimes she was subjected to by Wallis.”

She added: “It is never too late for victims of sexual abuse to come forward and report the offences to the police. If you have been subjected to this type of crime, I urge you to come forward and get the help and support you need.”

North Yorkshire Police has appealed for anyone who has been the victim of any kind of abuse to contact its officers on 101.

Victims can also seek independent advice, support and services from Bridge House, North Yorkshire’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). Call 01904 669339 or visit http://www.turntobridgehouse.org.
