Court describes 18 year old as a ‘Dangerous paedophile’ after he admits crimes against girls aged under 13 yrs old

A TEENAGER described as a “dangerous paedophile” has pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault.

Archie Collicutt, of Wilcote Riding, Finstock, West Oxfordshire, admitted six charges yesterday on the second day of his trial at Oxford Crown Court.

The 18-year-old admitted rape, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual activity with a child and the attempted rape of a child under 13.

Collicutt committed his crimes against six girls between May and September last year.

Opening the case to the jury, prosecutor Nigel Daly said the teen had access to a caravan where he would take his victims. He said: “Although he is only 18, he is actually a dangerous paedophile. He targets these girls, makes friends with them, and if seduction doesn’t work he’s quite willing to force himself on them.

“He preys on their inexperience … their immaturity, and if he’s worried he threatens them and their families.”

Mr Daley said the teenager used Facebook and text messages to contact some of his victims, both of which recorded evidence of his crimes.

Collicutt was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Wednesday, October 15.

Coatbridge man warned he faces jail term over child abuse images

A COATBRIDGE man is facing a jail sentence after being convicted of possessing and making indecent images of young children being sexually abused.

Paedophile Christopher Docherty, 30, was convicted unanimously by a jury at Airdrie Sheriff Court following a one-week trial.

Docherty, of Hawick Drive in Carnbroe, was found guilty after the jury heard evidence from police officers and computer experts, that his computer contained more than 1000 images of young children being sexually exploited, including four at the highest and worst level.

He also was in possession of 61 moving images of children being sexually abused.

The offences took place at his home over a four-year period between July 29, 2007 and August 2, 2011.

The jury, after being addressed by prosecutor Anne Frances Hilley and defence counsel Janice Green, advocate, found Docherty guilty of both charges after less than an hour of deliberating.

This week Docherty appeared in the dock for sentence, when Miss Green told the court: “He is a first offender and a person who assisted in the running of football leagues. He has been very active in the community.

“I would suggest there is no need for an extended sentence to be imposed as he is no risk to the public. Sentence could be dealt with by an alternative to custody. He continues to deny the offence.

“I concede the numbers are high in this case and the vast number relate to online viewing. He is well aware of the reality of his position. He fully understands the menace of these offences.”

Sheriff Robert Dickson remanded Docherty to the cells in the court to consider his decision and later released him on bail, deferring sentence until later this month after calling for a supplementary background report.

He told Docherty: “You are in total denial of these offences, blaming your brother and your father, who both gave evidence that it wasn’t them.

“I could see there might be an alternative to custody, but your counsel has now reminded me as to the extent as to what was on this computer.

“I am left with the fact there were a number of very serious images.”

Docherty was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Paedo caught with 38,500 indecent pictures of children avoids prison

dan

A loner caught with a collection of more than 38,500 child abuse images has been ordered to undergo treatment.

Daniel Cupryna built up a library of thousands of illegal pictures downloaded over the internet in eight years.

He was not jailed as a judge accepted he did not pose a physical risk to children despite his “abhorrent” activities online.

Cupryna, 41, in court for the first time, said he “would never dream” of touching a child.

A complaint from Google in the US led to a search at Cupryna’s home, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Officers seized a computer, hard drives and three phones and found a total of 38,566 indecent still and moving images of children, showing girls aged eight to 10.

It took two more years for the case to conclude, including a year to have the images examined.

Prosecutor Sue Jacobs said: “There’s no suggestion of anything else other than a very large personal collection.

“He made admissions to that effect during interview, downloading it for personal gratification.”

Cupryna, of Oxford Road, Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, admitted 20 charges – 16 counts of making and one of possessing indecent photographs of children, and three counts of possessing prohibited images of children.

He committed the offences between April 2004 and the police raid in September 2012.

John Nixon, defending, said: “He’s a single man. He resides with his parents. He’s described as being a loner. He does not have a great many friends.

“He’s not a man who is sexually experienced. He has never chosen to have any hands-on experience with any child at all, and says he would never dream of it, which is not uncommon.

“He accepts that there was some sexual gratification here.

“There has been an element of denial but I think that’s a reflection of his shame.

“He has never claimed benefits. He has tried to get by using his skills in computing.”

He said Cupryna went to a school for people with learning disabilities, had severe dyslexia and “quite obsessive” behaviour.

Cupryna, who had a religious background, helped his church with IT and cleaned litter from paths.

Judge Howard Crowson accepted Cupryna’s interest did not “extend to any physical desire”.

He told him: “I’m afraid we see rather too much of this type of behaviour but every case has to be a distinctly different one.

“There’s no suggestion, no belief, that you are in fact a danger to any person.

“You committed an offence by downloading indecent images and prohibited photographs.

“To most people that sort of thing is quite abhorrent. I feel that you know that.”

He gave Cupryna a one-year prison sentence suspended for two years with supervision, a sex offender treatment programme and a five-year sexual offences prevention order governing his internet use.

The judge added: “Let’s hope we don’t meet again. I hope this will bring an end to your behaviour in this way.”

Haverfordwest Tesco guard caught paedophile

andrewforster

A SHARP eyed Tesco security guard looking out for shoplifters caught a paedophile instead.

The guard monitored Andrew Francis Forster, aged 27, (pictured above) via CCTV cameras because he did not have a basket and did not appear to be shopping.

He saw Forster approach three young girls, two aged seven and one aged six, and show them his mobile telephone.

Francis Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court the CCTV cameras were so precise the guard could see Forster was showing them an indecent photograph of a child.

Forster, then of Fleming Crescent, Haverfordwest, west Wales, was arrested by police before he left the store.

As officers talked to him his telephone rang and when he unlocked it to take the call a screensaver appeared showing a naked girl of about five years of age performing a sex act on a man.

After his arrest police searched his home and found Forster had stored indecent images on four electronic devices, including his then girlfriend’s pink Acer laptop.

Forster admitted 26 offences in all, including three of attempting to get a girl aged under 16 to view an indecent image, possessing and making indecent images and possessing indecent cartoon images of children.

The barrister representing Forster, Carina Hughes, said he had been planning to marry but the relationship was now over and he had lost his job and his home. He had also spent five months in custody following his arrest.

She said Forster planned to leave Haverfordwest and live with his parents in North Wales.

Judge Huw Davies told Forster the girls in the photographs were “real victims in the hands of people who harm them for profit.”

Forster, he said, had behaved in a horrific way behind the back of a young woman who had been looking forward to getting married to him.

Forster was made the subject of a three year community order and placed under supervision for three years.

He was also ordered to attend a sex offenders’ programme and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order restricting his contact with children.

John Forsyth – Rugby/Nuneaton

Man betrayed trust by having sex with 15-year-old

After being invited to stay at a couple’s home following a function at a social club, a man betrayed their trust by having sex with their 15-year-old daughter.

It came to light after the girl then used her mother’s phone to exchange Facebook messages with John Forsyth as he tried to encourage her to take part in further sexual activity with him.

And at Warwick Crown Court, Forsyth, 52, formerly of Rugby Road, Binley Woods, was jailed for 28 months and ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.

Forsyth had pleaded guilty to causing or inciting a child to take part in sexual activity in January and two charges of sexual activity with a child.

Prosecutor Jane Sarginson said the girl and her family had gone to a function at a Nuneaton social club which Forsyth also attended.

During the evening there was a conversation between her father and other people, including Forsyth, during which he spoke of her age – so Forsyth was well aware she was under 16.

At the end of the evening Forsyth virtually invited himself along when the family went home.

It was agreed that because he lived some distance away Forsyth could stay the night, sleeping on the sofa.

After spending some time socialising further in the living room, other members of the girl’s family went to bed, leaving her and Forsyth downstairs.

As they sat on the sofa Forsyth put his hand on her stomach and kissed her, at which she responded: “No; this is really bad.”

They talked about what he had done, with the girl pointing out he had a son of her age, and Forsyth said he knew it was bad, adding: “I knew this would happen.”

But he kissed her again, and the pair carried out sexual activity.

The girl decided she needed time to think and went to the bathroom, after which she said she was going to bed.

But he told her ‘no you’re not,’ and pulled her down before having intercourse with her, without using any protection.

Afterwards, Forsyth told her not to worry because he had had a vasectomy. But the next day she was concerned she might be pregnant, and used her mother’s phone to contact him via Facebook.

He asked her if she wanted to meet him, saying it would be nice to do it again – and her mother later found the messages on her phone, as a result of which the police were contacted.

When Forsyth, now of Edward Road, Bedworth, was arrested he accepted sexual activity had taken place, but did not accept he knew she was under 16.

Sally Hancox, defending, conceded: “Penetrative offences of this nature, even when consensual, are usually met by custody.

“He seeks no excuse. He was drunk, and there was an element of loneliness in his life at that time. He has been married, with three children, but the marriage has fallen apart.”

She said Forsyth, who had only been released from the George Eliot hospital for a drink-related condition three days before the hearing, is said to be at low risk of re-offending.

And she added: “This is a man who is full of remorse, appalled by his idiocy and the consequences of it. He took advantage of an opportunity he saw as being presented to him.”

Jailing Forsyth, Judge Richard Griffith-Jones told him: “When you went back to their home that night you were being given hospitality and shelter by the family.

“They thought they could trust you, and the mother and father went to bed, leaving you downstairs with their child.

“Although her actions were that of a willing person, this law is there to protect children against being prevailed upon by older men to make a misjudgement.

“You then had sustained sexual activity with her which included intercourse.”

Chard paedophile charged with abuse of two girls under 13 sentenced to six-and-a-half years behind bars

chard

A 54-year-old man from Chard has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for carrying out a series of sexual offences against two girls and possessing more than 2,500 indecent images of children.

Nigel Stephen Bargery, of Langdon Close, admitted a series of offences and was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court earlier today.

The offences he admitted included eight counts of sexual touching of a child under 13, two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, six counts of making indecent images of a child.

The sexual offences were committed against two girls between October 2011 and August 2013, at properties in Taunton and Bridgwater. They were first reported to police in late summer 2013.

Investigating officer Det Con Darren Lipscomb said: “Nigel Bargery is a manipulative and devious offender.

“He abused these two girls over a lengthy spell of time and manipulated situations to make sure he had time alone with them.

“When he was arrested, his car and home address were searched and a number of computers were seized.

“They were examined by our High-Tech Crime Unit and were found to contain more than 2,500 indecent images of children, some at the highest level of seriousness.

“Although he didn’t admit to the sexual offences in interview, he entered guilty pleas at court demonstrating the strength of evidence against him.

“I’d like to praise the victims for showing tremendous strength in speaking about the abuse they’ve suffered and I’m glad they have been spared the ordeal of giving evidence in court.”

A couple who gave a schoolboy drugs and involved him in their sex lives face jail

Taxi driver man John Ford, 47, incited the schoolboy to have sex with his much younger partner and watched the court heard. On an earlier occasion, the partner, blond former chip shop worker Nicola Mason, 24, stripped off in front of the boy and performed a sex act.

mason

They claimed no such thing ever happened and Ford denied two charges of inciting the child to engage with sexual activity with Mason. Mason, who is pregnant with Ford’s second child, denied two charges of sexual activity with a child.

Both were convicted by majority verdicts – him by 10 to 2 and her by 11 to 1 – by the jury of eight men and four women at Mold Crown Court.

Judge Rhys Rowlands remanded Ford in custody and bailed Mason pending sentence in October but warned them that they faced inevitable prison sentences. He said that he took the view that Mason had acted under Ford’s influence – but knew precisely what she was doing.

Mason broke down in the dock and threw her arms around Ford’s neck after the verdicts were announced.

The couple, now of Cusur Bach, Rhydwyn, Holyhead, sexually abused the boy, now 16, in May and June of last year at their former home in Eastville Avenue in Rhyl.

Mason cried hysterically in the dock when Ford – who also runs a second hand shop and who at one stage managed a Rhyl cafe – was handcuffed and led down to the cell block.

Prosecuting barrister Myles Wilson told how the boy was given cannabis and MCAT and was pressured by Ford to have sex with his partner.

“Both these defendants, in effect, took advantage of a 15-year-old lad who was a virgin at the time. He lost his virginity by being pressured into it, with John Ford looking on,” he said.

A 24-year-old film maker from Fermanagh has pleaded guilty to making child abuse images.

Aaron Livingstone, from Leighan Road, Monea, appeared at Downpatrick Crown Court last week and pleaded guilty to six offences of making indecent images of children on January 5, 2012.

November 2013

A 23-year-old film maker from Fermanagh has been charged with making child abuse images.

Aaron Livingstone, from Leighan Road, Monea, appeared at Newtownards Magistrate’s Court accused of making and possessing indecent images of children.

The offences were allegedly committed between December 25, 2011, and March 13, 2012.

A police officer told the court he believed he could connect Livingstone with the charges.

Livingstone was released on bail to appear back at the court on January 16.

Maidstone pervert jailed for two years for child abuse images

sth

A repeat sex offender who downloaded more than 700 child abuse pictures has been caged for two years.

Stephen Thompson of Highland Road, Maidstone, was arrested last April for breaking the terms of a sexual offences order preventing him from owning any devices capable of accessing the internet.

While on remand at HMP Elmley, Kent Police officers discovered that the 35-year-old had downloaded 733 child abuse images of children aged seven to 14. Thompson had saved them on a laptop computer seized from his home during the original arrest.

Of these, 57 images were graded as category A, which is the most serious. A further 70 were graded at category B and 606 at category C.

Thompson pleaded guilty to breaking his Sexual Offences Prevention Order and to six counts of making indecent photographs of children, and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on September 9.

Detective Constable David Taft said: “Despite previous convictions and orders designed to curb his behaviour, Stephen Thompson failed to learn his lesson and has again contributed to the abuse of innocent children.

“This should act as a warning to anyone else considering viewing such material online, that Kent Police officers will use every tool at their disposal to identify those who pose a risk to children and who would be better off behind bars.

“Thompson now has plenty of time to consider the seriousness of his actions and I hope the sentence he has received will finally convince him to change his ways.”

James Craft – Accrington

Sex offender used library to trawl web

craft

A sex offender who used false names to access ‘fetish pornography’ and a swingers web site at Accrington Library has been jailed.

James Craft, 24, was jailed for 18 months after breaching a sexual offences order which requires him to notify police within three days of a change of name or address.

Craft has two convictions for sexual activity with a child when he was a minor himself and 14 convictions for breaching requirement orders dating back to 2004.

The hearing was told he used three false names on more than 40 occasions between June and August to gain access to pornography and a dating web site.

The court was told that members of staff at the hostel where Craft was staying on Lydia Street, Accrington became concerned about his whereabouts during the day and alerted police.

On August 12 he was arrested at Accrington Library for the suspected breach of his notification requirement and at Burnley Crown Court on Monday, September 8 he pleaded guilty to three counts of being a registered sex offender and failing to comply with requirements.

In mitigation Paul Robinson, defending, said that Craft had ‘struggled’ with learning difficulties which had caused ‘a degree of social problems’ for him.

He said: “Unfortunately he has behaved inappropriately on a number of occasions in the past.

“But at the hostel he did not cause any problems for the staff and there was never any suggestion that they did not know where he was, as they pointed police in the direction of the library.

“He did not use a false name to get access to children and there’s no evidence that the sites he accessed were illegal.”

In sentencing Judge Newell warned Craft, of Lang Street, Blackpool that his failure to comply with orders would result in ‘longer and longer’ prison terms.

He said; “This is the ninth time you have appeared in front of a court for a criminal offence. You have only committed an actual offence against a person on two occasions, the rest are for breaches of orders.

“You are going to be going to prison for longer and longer by breaching the orders.

“It is up to you Mr Craft comply with the orders and there will not be a problem.

“If you fail to comply you will go to prison. A simple punitive sentence is necessary.”

Robson Pereira – Kirkcudbrightshire

Gatehouse riding school boss convicted of multiple rape of sexual assault of several females

rape

A riding school owner raped two women and sexually abused four others over a 10-year period.

Brazilian Robson Pereira, 50, who ran the Kirkclaugh Stables near Gatehouse of Fleet from 2002, faces being deported after serving a jail sentence for his crimes.

The dad-of-four was convicted by a jury on Tuesday after a trial at Glasgow High Court.

One of his victims, who said she was repeatedly raped until the spring of 2012, told the court: “He took my virginity. I felt violated.”

Pereira had been regarded as a pillar of the community due to his charity work giving free horse and carriage rides to disabled kids.

But after one brave victim finally went to the police, an investigation code-named Operation Topcoat was launched.

All those who had contact with Pereira were quizzed and the horrific truth came out.

Three of the victims of sexual abuse were young girls who went to the stables because of their love of horses.

The fourth victim was a woman who gave him a lift in her car and had her leg rubbed by him.

A third rape charge involving a 36-year-old woman was found not proven.

And Pereira was also cleared of a charge of male rape and sexually abusing another 10 teenage girls and women.

Throughout the trial he claimed that his victims were telling a pack of lies.

He alleged that all the sex was consensual and the women and men who came
forward were jealous of his 19-year-old partner, who was 16 when they moved in together.

He also claimed some of the women were angry over financial deals involving horses and had claimed he cheated them.

Pereira told the court he had been subjected to a campaign of intimidation and that his car had been vandalised and that he and his partner were followed and had abuse hurled at them.

But one woman, a committed Christian who did not believe in sex before marriage, revealed that Pereira raped her when she turned 16.

She said: “I kept telling him no, but he wasn’t really listening to what I was saying. I felt utterly out of my depth.

“He said if I was uncomfortable with anything I could tell him to stop but when I said stop he would just carry on.”

The woman, now 19, was asked why she did not immediately report the incident and replied: “I didn’t want to get him into trouble.

“I didn’t want to stop attending the yard. It was a sanctuary for me up to that point.”

She was asked by advocate depute Martin Macari, prosecuting: “Did this behaviour continue after that night?” She replied: “Yes it did. It was more frequent in the months leading up to Christmas 2011.

“Sometimes I would be willing and wouldn’t put up a fight, but other times I would resist.”

The woman said he repeatedly raped her until the spring of 2012.

In his police interview Pereira said at one point of the allegations against him: “If this is real I should be put in jail and never come out of there.”

In evidence at the trial he said: “I never did anything inappropriate. It never happened. I have been in Scotland for 15 years and I ran a very successful business.”

Pereira should have been deported in 2010 after his UK visa ran out but unsuspecting locals backed his appeal to stay and MP Russell Brown was among those who wrote to the UK Border Agency to plead his case.

Another of Pereira’s rape victims returned from the West Indies to give evidence against him.

She said: “Initially he was like Prince Charming, but then he changed.”

The woman, who is now aged 44, told of how he forced her to have oral sex and raped her.

She said: “I felt I had been used. He made me feel like an object.”

Judge Lord Malcolm placed Pereira on the sex offenders’ register and deferred sentence until October 10 for background reports.

He told Pereira: “Given the gravity of the crimes you have committed you will be remanded in custody.”

Pereira showed no emotion as he was led away.

Bodmin man jailed for downloading vile indecent images of young children

“CHILDREN were systematically raped and abused for your entertainment” – those were the words of a judge to a Bodmin man jailed for downloading hundreds of indecent images of children aged as young as 5 or 6.

Andrew Watson was investigated after police uncovered his internet protocol (IP) address while they were looking into a UK-based online distribution site for child abuse imagery, Truro Crown Court heard on Friday.

Lee Bremridge, for the prosecution, said officers raided the 55-year-old’s home on July 8, last year and seized computer equipment.

Mr Bremridge said indecent images of children were recovered from Watson’s laptop and a memory stick.

He said the 537 images ranged from categories A to C on the scale used by the

sentencing council to determine the seriousness of such material, with category A being the most serious.

“In interview (he) went on to describe looking at adult pornography and child images had appeared by chance,” said Mr Bremridge, who added that Watson denied any sexual interest in children but admitted using search terms to look for images of children out of “curiosity and stupidity”.

At an earlier hearing Watson, of Dinhams Bridge, admitted seven counts of making indecent images of youngsters between August 2010 and July, last year.

Ramsay Quaife, for the defence, urged Judge Simon Carr to impose a suspended sentence on Watson and allow him to take part in an internet sex offenders’ programme run by the probation service.

“He needs the programme in my submission,” said Mr Quaife. “Society is better protected by him receiving that programme rather than being incarcerated.”

Judge Carr said it was clear that Watson had deliberately sought out illegal material and said such actions caused enormous damage. “Children are systematically raped and abused because people like you find it entertaining,” he said.

“They would not be raped or abused if you did not log into those sites.”

Watson was sentenced to five months in prison and ordered to sign the sex offenders register and made the subject of a sexual offences prevention order.

Ickenham flasher repeatedly exposed himself to two young girls

A man who repeatedly exposed himself to two young girls has been sentenced.

The girls were aged just 11 and 12 at the time of the offences.

After a three day trial in July, a jury found 51-year-old Adrian Chapman, of Ickenham, guilty of three counts of indecent exposure.

The court heard how between February and September 2013 the young victims became aware of Chapman exposing himself from an upstairs window of his house.

The victims later told police they did not immediately tell anyone as they were scared.

But Chapman’s behaviour continued and finally, following another incident in September 2013, one victim told her mother what had been happening. Her mother informed police and an investigation began.

Specially trained officers interviewed the young girls to gather their evidence as sensitively as possible.

On October 25, 2013, Chapman was arrested at his home address by UxbridgePolice officers and charged the same day.

DC Anji Dawson of Hillingdon Criminal Investigation Department said: “I must firstly pay tribute to the young victims, who had the courage to speak out about this crime.

“I must also pay tribute to the victims’ families for all the support they gave to this investigation.

“It is as a result of their bravery and determination that Chapman has been brought to justice.”

Chapman was sentenced on Tuesday, September 9, at Isleworth Crown Court, to a 12 month community order consisting of 200 hours of unpaid work, a 56 day curfew from 8pm to 6am and a notification requirement that he must sign onto the Sex Offenders Register for the next five years.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60.

Depraved child abuse images addict jailed for three years

A Hemel Hempstead man who admitted becoming ‘hooked’ on downloading child abuse images has been jailed for three years and put on the sex offenders’ register.

Philip Stonebank, 63, of Peascroft Road, was also discovered to have committed acts of gross indecency with a young girl in the past, as police investigated his offences.

He pleaded guilty to three charges of indecency with a child, possessing indecent photos of a child and four offences of making indecent photos of a child.

He also admitted a further charge of possessing an extreme porographic image.

Judge Steven Gullick, hearing the case, was told how police officers discovered indecent moving and still images of young girls when they went to Stonebank’s home in July last year.

He admitted he had become hooked on child abuse images, which he said he had been downloading onto his computer on an almost daily basis.

He claimed to officers he was not a paedophile and said he thought it was safe to watch the material on his computer and admitted it had excited him.

Stonebank said the youngest girl he had seen was around three years old.

The court then heard as police investigated the offences, they were made aware of a young girl who had been a victim of Stonebank’s depravity.

They were able to speak to her and discovered that he had committed indecent acts in front of her years before.

Judge Gullick jailed Stonebank for three years and made him the subject of a sexual offences prevention order, which will last for the next 10 years.

He was also told his name would go on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

Parents jailed for neglecting son so badly he went BLIND in filthy, fly-infested home

Gillian-Hendry

A couple have been jailed for neglecting their son so badly that he went blind.

Idle Gillian Hendry and Craig Dick, both 34, kept the 12-year-old boy and his two-year-old sister in a filthy, stinking, fly-infested house in Thornaby.

Craig-Dick

The boy went blind in his left eye from cataracts because they failed to take him for hospital appointments that could have saved his sight.

He also became increasingly crippled with arthritis until his doctors called in social services so they could give him the treatment he desperately needed.

They returned with the police who were shocked by what they found, prosecutor David Crook told Teesside Crown Court.

The couple who were living on benefits in Teesdale Terrace, Thornaby, were unkempt, and the boy’s eye was white and he said that he could not see out of it.

He went upstairs and came back with his sister who he placed in a high chair.

The staircase was dirty, with trodden-in food and bin bags stuffed with dirty nappies. The girl’s cot had a damp and mouldy mattress.

The judge said that the cruelty towards her was that she had been kept in dreadful conditions.

The kitchen was dirty and infested with flies, and upstairs the toilet and bath were filthy, and the bath was filled with cold dirty water

A bedroom had been used as a toilet, and the children’s beds had filthy mattresses and no covers.

The couple’s bedroom by contrast was relatively tidy, but they said that they slept downstairs.

The children were immediately taken into care. The boy now lives with his natural father, and the girl, who was fathered by Dick, is being put up for adoption.

Lawyers for the couple said they were unlikely to have the care of any children again.

Appalling conditions: Social workers were shocked by what they found at the house

Peter Wishlade, defending the mother, said the only reason she could give was depression, which was unsupported by any medical evidence.

He said: “Other than that, I don’t know how this has happened, I cannot give any explanation.

“It is correct to say that she had indicated to a nurse at the RVI that she had let everything slip because she felt depressed.”

Jim Withyman, defending Dick, said that he was an inadequate man who could not even take care of his own personal hygiene.

He said: “There is a deficiency in him by allowing his children to live in such appalling conditions.

“He will not appear before the courts again providing that he is not looking after children.”

bath

Judge Howard Crowson, who was shown police photographs of the house, lifted earlier court orders banning the identification of the children, which would have made naming the couple impossible.

The judge told them: “The conditions we have seen in the photographs are appalling.

“I feel this was was inadequacy rather than a deliberate attempt to cause harm to either child.

“Your own bedroom was noticeably clean although you claimed not to use it.”

Hendry was jailed for two-and-a-half years and Dick for two years and two months after they pleaded guilty to two charges of child neglect.

Watford paedophile jailed for 10 years as risk to children

An 80-year-old church going paedophile who sexually abused four girls has been jailed for 10 years.

One of the victims of church-going John Dearlove, from Watford, was as young as eight, St Albans Crown Court heard.

He was sentenced to five-and-a-half years for his crimes and a further four-and-a-half years because he posed a serious risk to children.

Judge Stephen Gullick said a probation report about Dearlove identified a lack of understanding of his offences.

Prosecutor Peter Shaw said from 2008 to 2011 he abused one girl when she was aged between 9 and 11 and as a result she had self-harmed.

A 16-year-old girl said on one occasion at a church in February last year she was touched on the bottom by Dearlove, who also looked down her top.

Another girl was abused when Dearlove touched her chest on around ten occasions and once put his hand down her trousers. As a result of Dearlove’s actions the girl suffers nightmares, said Mr Shaw.

The fourth victim, who was aged 11 or 12, said she was kissed by the pensioner who put his hand down her top.

Dearlove, of Grandfield Avenue in Watford, Hertfordshire, was arrested on 14 September last year.

He initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual assault of a child aged under 13 and one of sexual assault of a girl.

David Smithet, defending, said Dearlove was a widower since his wife of 40 years died in 1999 and a diabetic who had suffered a stroke.

“He accepts his behaviour was unacceptable and criminal,” he said.

Judge Stephen Gullick said a probation report on Dearlove said he did not “exhibit an understanding” of his offending.

The extended sentence was because he remained a significant risk to children under 16.

Dearlove will remain on the sex offenders register for life and was banned from unsupervised contact with children for the next 10 years.

Pervert OAP faces jail over animal porn videos

williams

A PENSIONER from South Tyneside could face jail after being caught in possession of a string of extreme pornographic videos depicting sex acts between women and dogs.

The videos were discovered during a police raid on the home of Michael Williams in Rede Avenue, Hebburn, last December.

They were on the hard drive of the 74-year-old’s computer which was seized by officers after they executed a search warrant as part of Project Spade – a long-running investigation into pornography crimes launched by police in Canada.

When arrested, Williams admitting viewing the films, but said he “didn’t realise it was an offence”.

Williams appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing five sets of extreme pornographic images which portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person with a live animal, namely a dog, and which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character.

Magistrates said that the matter was so serious that its sentencing powers were not sufficient and decided that the case should be sent to Newcastle Crown Court.

Sarah Guest, prosecuting, said: “Officers executed a warrant at William’s property on December 16 last year. Computer equipment was seized.

“The search took place in relation to Project Spade, a Canadian police investigation.

“Five movies were found depicting acts involving dogs and female adults. He was arrested in relation to that.

“He said he had viewed the images of women in sex acts with animals but he didn’t realise it was an offence.”

Laura Croft, defending, said: “The first issue you have is whether you accept jurisdiction. There are no set guidelines for these offences.

“There are five images found on the hard drive of a computer. My submission is that you can accept jurisdiction for this case.”

Harry Metcalfe, chair of the magistrates, said: “This matter should be sent to Newcastle Crown Court.

“We cannot deal with sentencing today.”

A hearing date at crown court was set for September 25.

Williams was given bail until then, with the conditions that he resides at his home address. He is also prohibited from using any computer or electronic device capable of accessing the internet that does not have the capacity to retain and display the history of internet use and he must not attempt to delete the internet history of any such device.

Man jailed for 25 years for horrific sexual offences including child cruelty

kevin

THE pervert who subjected two Wigan women to horrific sexual and emotional ordeals has been described by a judge as “manipulative, controlling, obsessive and domineering.”

Kevin Gibbons had claimed he “lived by the word of God and practised his teachings.” But Judge David Aubrey told him: “What you said in evidence was a complete and utter charade. You were not motivated by loving, understanding, tolerance and forgiveness.”

Liverpool Crown Court heard Gibbons raped both women and imprisoned them and the judge said that had destroyed their free will and choice.

His first victim said she feels he has “sucked the life out of me” and the judge said she remains extremely fragile. His other victim, whom he raped while she was pregnant and just after she gave birth and made her breast-feed him, had a breakdown and for a time was suicidal.

On one occasion he forced her to have sex and filmed it then threatened to reveal it to others.

His terrorising behaviour, which included stalking, came to light when by a twist of fate both women ended up living in the same street and the police learnt of their ordeals.

Gibbons was described by the judge as remaining a significant risk of causing serious sexual and psychological harm to women. He imposed a 25-year sentence involving 19 years’ imprisonment with six years’ extended licence. He will have to serve at least two thirds of the 19 years but it will be up to the Parole Board to decide when he no longer poses a risk to the public and can be freed.

Gibbons, of Rivington Avenue, Standish, was found guilty of 11 offences after a three-week trial. Seven jury members returned to court to see him being sentenced.

Gibbons, who denied all offences, was convicted of three rapes, two false imprisonment, three indecent assaults, a stalking charge and two of child cruelty. The court heard that the cruelty offences involved him holding a baby by the ankles and swinging it around and threatening to drop it on its head. He also swung the infant around in its car seat and threatened to let go.

The stalking saw Gibbons bombarded his first victim with numerous letters and notes and when she stopped up her letterbox he put them on her car. He regularly drove past and parked by her home and place of work, said Henry Riding, prosecuting.

Paedophile jailed for lying his way into Plymouth family homes

A PAEDOPHILE working as a decorator tricked his way into family homes by telling a string of lies – including that he was a former police officer.

Convicted sex offender Stewart Simpson befriended parents and gained access to their children in breach of a court order.

He told one family he was a former child protection officer, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

None of the children were harmed.

Jailing him for 29 months, Judge Paul Darlow said: “Your presence in those households presented a high risk to the children.”

He accepted that the 40-year-old was not acting as a sexual predator when he entered the homes but trying to earn a living.

Simpson, of Mount Gould Road, Lipson, admitted 11 counts of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order between July and October last year.

He pleaded guilty to being in the same household as anyone aged under 18 where their parents were not aware of his convictions.

Sarah Vince, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Simpson advertised as a decorator on Facebook.

She added he worked at four homes where children were living, though parents were almost always present.

Miss Vince said that in each case parents were unaware of his convictions and later told police they would not have let him into their homes.

The court heard he attended a fifth family home briefly to give a quote but was not given the job.

Miss Vince said he became friends with the mother and family of three children aged between 19 months and seven.

She added he would pick up, cuddle and kiss the children – though he was not warned not to do so by the parents.

Miss Vince said once he was trusted to babysit the children for 45 minutes.

She added he told the family he was a former Royal Marine who had worked as a police child protection officer.

Miss Vince said he told other lies to parents, including that he was married with two children.

The Sexual Offences Prevention Order was imposed in 2008 for sexual assault on a child aged under 13. He was jailed for 27 months.

Simpson also has a previous conviction for indecency with a child.

Nick Lewin, for Simpson, who is gay, had denied he had been acting as a sexual predator.

He added he admitted breaching the order but was trying to earn money as a decorator – ironically a trade he had learned behind bars.

Paedophile threatened to cut throat of victims sister

A paedophile told one of his young victims that he would slit her sister’s throat and make her watch if she told anyone he had abused her.

Mohammed Kamal Hossein, 59, has been found guilty of 25 sex and abuse crimes, including indecent assault, indecency with a child and child cruelty.

They were committed while he was a restaurant worker in Carlisle.

A jury also convicted Bernadine Samuels, 54, of Ellesmere Way, Morton, of 25 charges of aiding and abetting him in carrying out his sex crimes.

They had denied the charges but were convicted following a two-week trial at the city’s Crown Court.

Details of their offences, committed against two girls during the 1990s, were outlined as Judge Barbara Forrester summed-up the case.

One of the victims was aged between seven and 11 at the time of her ordeal.

The judge said the abuse stopped during the late 1990s after one of the victims told a teacher what had been happening to her.

The resulting police investigation, however, was stopped after officers failed to find and arrest Hossein when he moved to Warrington to start another job.

The inquiry was restarted in 2011 after one of the girls was referred to counselling and went to the police again.

Judge Forrester said that when the abuse first started one victim asked him what he was doing.

She added: “He said if she told anyone he would slit her sister’s throat and make her watch.”

Jurors also heard Hossein also bought his victims sweets, toys and clothes to stop them from telling anyone about what he had done to them.

The abuse included Hossein touching his victims in an inappropriate manner as well as getting them to touch him sexually.

Judge Forrester added that the places where the abuse was carried out included The Viceroy restaurant, where he worked, and in his car at the Sheepmount sports stadium.

Sentencing was adjourned until October 16. Both Hossein and Samuels were remanded in custody.
